I’ll be staying somewhere else next time
While the service at the hotel is great the maintenance of the room seems to be lacking. Everything seems to be a bit run-down and instead of fixing things properly they seem to be taking shortcuts. Ex: My toilet wasn’t flushing properly because the chain that conects inside was broken and they used a paperclip and string to fix it. There are several hotels right next to this one and will be trying another one next time I am in the area.

Clean room and was very comfortable. Big place, so we didn’t hear a thing.
For a place to hang your hat for the night, get some quiet, sleep comfortably at a reasonable price, I recommend it. The front desk lady was so very sweet and over the top helpful. We ate at Shoneys around the corner. MISTAKE!! It is awful. We should have gone to the Cracker Barrel. I would go again without reservation. Oh, I told them about Shoneys in the morning and they said they NEVER would have recommended eating there either. Very clean, everything was spotless.
Traveler's tip on dining
If you go to St. Simons Island, do look up the reviews on Barbara Jeans Restaurant before going there. Mixed reviews at best. Mediocre in my opinion, but I had the Chicken Fried Steak (tough), corn side (canned and tinny tasting), and red beans and rice (totally awesome). Cornbread was sweet and wonderful. Not worth the price in my opinion. Wife had the shrimp and said it was outstanding.

won’t go back
First they sent us to a non-smoking room that smelled of smoke. Then they changed our room to a room that had a door latch that worked backwards and we had trouble getting in. Hotel is quite old and has only outside room access. Not well maintained. Staff could have been friendlier.
