Would definitely go back IF.....

The hotel was nice. It was relatively clean. The problem we encountered was that there was no hot water when we tried to shower on New Years day. It sucked! If they could guarantee me that they will have hot showers I’d stay there again.

Great stay in Japantown!

Hotel Tomo was perfectly situated for our stay in San Francisco. We were there as a group of five, to attend the USF December graduation ceremony. With public transportation right outside our door and easy parking attached to the Hotel, getting around was no problem. The hotel was clean, the business center was big help, and the beds were firm but comfortable. We would definitely stay there again!

clean but rude

Hotel room is stylish and clean. nice desk. good wireless internet. good bathroom and bed. locations is ~15 mins bus ride away from all attractions. buses run every 20 mins in front of hotel. Hotel staff is NOT friendly, in fact, i would say they are rude. they gave no help in finding a bus stop, bus number etc. they said go outside to the corner. (there are 4 corners, be specific). shuttle service to airport is $15 each way. they got mad when I asked if they can call the shuttle to come earlier if they are in the area since i finished my business work earlier than my scheduled pick up time. they gave attitude to the shuttle service hence they refused. i called the same number and they happily obliged. OVERALL: it is nice to stay here but dnt expect any sweet service.

Hard beds

Very good location. lots of restaurants nearby. The reason I can’t recommend...the beds are like sleeping on a board. They were extremely uncomfortable.

Very nice and clean...

This Japanese style hotel is centrally located next to the Japanese malls. The hotel is very clean, the staff were very nice and the rooms were very modern. There are no unpleasant smells like someone suggested. I frequent San Francisco for business and can honestly say this is a good place to stay for business and with family. It is 22.00 a night to park! No complaints here!

Tomo lets Go!

The iPod charger was broken and the door to the patio wouldn’t open. Everything else was great!

Don’t even think about it

This hotel shouldn’t be in business. Smells bad, very much run down. I wouldn’t sleep here even when they pay me. Spend $50/day more and get a real hotel.

Great Hotel Tomo!

Very good hotel, clean and comfortable rooms, wi-fi working everywhere. It’s a little bit far from the Fisherman’s Wharf but the neighborhood is very interesting and quiet. I would stay here again!!!

Traveler's tip on dining

There are many very good asian restaurants near the hotel!!

Will visit again!

We had a fantastic 3 night stay at this hotel. I think the only problem we had was with at least one room key not working on a daily basis - sometimes both didn’t work...but the problem was always fixed right away. The location was perfect for a stay outside of the city and away from tourist type areas. Japantown is very tranquil even during the day! There were plenty of places to eat and shop nearby and bus stops right outside the door for easy transportation to the tourist areas! The staff was very friendly and accomodating. Our view of the city was wonderful from the 6th floor and it was a clean and comfortable room with plenty of space. We will stay here again when we visit San Francisco!!

Traveler's tip on dining

If you like udon - try Tampopo across the street. We liked it so much we ate there 3x in the 4 days we were there!

Comfortable and affordable

Well located hotel, it matches well with the Japantown atmosphere. It is possible to walk to some of the traditional tourist destinations and certainly has plenty of fun restaurants nearbly. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Unfortunately like most parts of San Francisco the parking was expensive and in short supply but they did have alternatives arranged a short walk away.

Nice next to Japantown

A nice and cheerful basic hotel. Near the bus line, but far from BART. I asked for a room away from the street. It had to be a king bed, which was alright with me. I found the seating uncomfortable. The two chairs were hard like school chairs, and the beanbag was too small. The service was pleasant.

Can’t wait to go back

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. It has a great restaurant on the premises. It is located in Japan town.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The Academy of Sciences is a wonderful multifaceted attraction. Located in Golden Gate Park it makes the trip very interesting.

Perfect for soothing night’s rest

Japanese art decor in rooms add to a sense of peace and quiet, especially on a short business where one need’s a good night’s sleep the very first night in for AM meeting.

Traveler's tip on dining

On-site restaurant offers the option to stay in, despite S.F.s numerous fine dining choices.

Cleanest hotel we have ever stayed in.

This hotel is immaculate. It is centrally located to everything with bus stops across the street. We have stayed here before and returned by choice. The staff is efficient and friendly. The housekeeping staff is extremely honest and security minded as we discovered when I left valuables in the safe on a previous trip.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Go to the Top of the Mark for cocktails and live music for a $10 cover charge and watch the sun set over the Golden Gate Bridge.

We so enjoyed our stay and Hotel Tomo and plan to stay there again if we find ourselves in SF.

Hotel Tomo’s staff couldn’t be any nicer. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel, would highly recommend it to others, and would stay there again if we find ourselves in SF. We ate in the hotel’s first floor restaurant and enjoyed our meals. It was centrally located to where we needed to be. I can’t say enough good things about this place: affordable, with amenities like a gym, free wireless, immaculate rooms. Bravo Hotel Tomo!

Traveler's tip

when going to SF, don’t forget to bring a lightweight jacket or a heavy sweater, or a sweater coat. We were there in May and it felt like an East Coast March.

Clean and functional, if modest and simple

Modest, simple, but very clean and functional, and the price is decent.

Great proximity to the Fillmore

The hotel was clean, the staff was nice and helpful and best of all it was within walking/stumbling distance from and to the Fillmore. On busline to BART and all SF attractions. Fun, funky place would stay again.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

2blocks down and 2 blocks west to fillmore.

Fun hotel and great location

We were very happy with this hotel. It is kid friendly too, we had our 18 month old daughter with us and she loved it. The staff are very friendly, they provided a crib to us as soon as we got there, and were very attentive to our parking and other needs as well. Yes, you have to pay to park here but you’ll pay to park anywhere in San Fran, get used to it. I highly recommend this fun hotel.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Visit Alamo Park if you have kids. Local moms hang out in the fenced in play area. There is lots of sand and the ground is made of soft rubber. Very fun!
