Hilton London Paddington
Although I would not say that the neighborhood is the best, the convenience of this hotel is without peer. You get off the Heathrow Express and theres an entrance to the hotel from inside Paddington Station. I would ask for an inside room as I seemed to get some band noise from a local bar until very late at night. Only one other drawback. Concierge services as to directions at times seem to be accurate, but brusque. They can also be quite inaccurate as to directions. I had to go to a location 21 km from London and their first take was that it was 2 1/2 hours away; then they changed when I insisted they check the website to find out it was just over one hour but couldnt seem to get me by the subway closures (man behind me told me) and then claimed I was going to have to take a taxi from my train destination and I walked in 5 minutes.

great location
the Hilton Paddington is perfect for a transition hotel if you are in-between flights from Heathrow and have a night to spend in London. take the Heathrow Express train from the airport and the hotel is literally right next to the train station. it makes everything so easy. then you can take a quick tube ride to Soho, shopping, pubs, etc. love it!
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
if you plan on taking more than a few tube rides, always buy the Oyster card.
