Great location for the conference I was attending

Overall the hotel was fine for why I was in Phoenix. The parking fee per night was extreme I thought, but when looking at taxi or car service fees I guess it would be a toss up. I did love the True Blue Spa products in the room. The hotel restaurant did have an excellent breakfast buffet but price was a bit high. The best part about the hotel was it had a Starbucks in the main lobby. All in all it was a nice place to stay - would I stay again - not sure - will do more research if I attend other conference in Phoenix.

Great Location.....room and service not so great

Very close to the Phoenix Convention Center and easy to get to from Airport on Phoenix new light rail system. The hotel lobby is beautiful, but the rooms had seen better days. The drapes were very stained, sink leaked all over counter top and the "popcorn" ceiling looked dirty. Hotel service was poor. Phone calles to front desk not answered, so we walked down to request more blankets, and repair of a burned out light. Over an hour later we were given an additional blanket that was thin and worn looking. I would expect much nicer linnen and service from a hotel in this price range. Overall, hotel adequate for a place to sleep, just don’t expect luxury or great service from this Wyndham

Make Sure to Request a Refurbished Room

My mom and chose the Whyndham because it was within walking distance to the Orpheum theater, where we had tickets to a show. We booked a queen suite, and our room appeared to have been furnished in the 1960’s. It smelled of mildew and old smoke, and when we woke up we both had a cough and red itchy eyes. The lobby is beautiful, as are the pictures on their web site. As it turns out some, but not all of the rooms have been refurbished. The best part of the hotel is that it is connected to Starbucks. If I had it to do over I would stay at one of the nicer resort hotels just outside of city center, and take a cab to the theatre.

Servicewith a smile and great upated room

I was very surprised to find service with a smile for the first time in quite a while. I travel regularly and often get "good service" but not like the eagerness to give the best service that seemed genuine at the Phoenix Whyndam. At chekin I asked about my room and they were happy to find me the best fit by inquiring on my preferences, and then exceeding them. The room was very nice and the room service was very tastey and quick. I’d go back for sure!

Nice Hotel

This hotel was really nice, the room was beautiful and so was the lobby. In error we left the bedroom window open all night and the street noise was a little loud, but when the window was closed, the room was very quiet. The price to park your car was very expensive $23.00, however they let us keep the car parked after we checked out and picked it up 8 hours later, after we went to the baseball game and concert.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Lite-rail system is new to Phoenix and very close pick up and drop off to the hotel. This makes getting around very easy in a big city. If you take the lite-rail up to Central and McDowell, you can go to the Old Spaghetti Factory. Very short trip. Also drops off right in front of Chase field for baseball game.

Nice hotel

We enjoyed our stay at the Wyndham. The rooms were very nice, updated and very clean. Everyone was helpful and friendly. We weren’t familiar with the area and asked several questions at the front desk. They gave us a map of the area which was great. Very good breakfast in the hotel resturant also.

My daughter and I were attending a concert at the US Airways Center. The Wyndham was very close and within walking distance. I was worried about it being a safe area and walking back to the hotel after the concert but there were no problems at all and felt safe the whole time.

Beautiful Place

Our stay at the Wyndham in Phoenix was great, the service was good and the rooms clean and beautiful. Hopefully we will stay a little longer next time. One thing that they did not mention was the parking charge, otherwise we hade a great stay.

Not bad....

Convenient downtown location - walking distance to Chase Field, US Airways Area, Convention Center, and quite a few restaurants... friendly and helpful staff... the pool was nothing special... parking was an additional $23/day

Traveler's tip

There are a lot of homeless people walking the streets and they aren’t afraid to approach you and ask for money or food - be careful when walking around (even right outside of the hotel)

Traveler's tip on dining

Kincade’s for fine dining. A very good menu with great food. Also have early bird specials. First Watch for breakfast & lunch. Also can get boxed lunches to go.

Downtown at the Wyndham

The hotel is beautiful but I wish I had known I would have to pay for the parking garage ($23 per night + tip)!

Don’t stay at this hotel

$23 per day to park your car at the hotel! Even as a paying guest! They don’t tell you this when you book. All spaces outside hotel are metered with 1 hour maximum time limit. Rooms were tiny. Newly renovated rooms were pretty nice but nothing can change the low ceilings in every room and hallway. I could reach up and touch the ceiling anywhere in the hotel. They spent all their money remodeling the lobby. Gorgeous. Everything else. Blah. Pool is about 6 foot by 10 foot and was filled with trash the last time I went outside. Beer cans and old newspapers. Got there on Sunday and they had a "pool party" with tattooed and pierced 20 somethings everywhere and 150 decibel music you could hear from the 17th floor. They apparently do this every Sunday. Views out every window are either of construction, trash piles or other tall buildings that completely obstruct the view of Phoenix. Area around hotel full of homeless people panhandling. I will never stay at this hotel again.

Wyndham Phoenix Downtown is definitly not a family friednly neighborhood. Homeless people all over the streets. Loud raucous pool party every Sunday with alcohol.

Disappointed!

We have stayed for a night. In general, the room was good but the service was awful (especially the front desk). Moreover, we were frustrated by the extra charges (parking fee per day-night).

Hotel recommended , location not

This hotel was very good, and the staff polite. It is downtown though, and if you don’t have a car, you are limited in evening activities. Many of the area restaurants are not open for dinner. The downtown area pretty much shuts down on weeknights and all day on weekends. It is a safe area for walking, and easy to navigate. The electric tram stop is close by and you can take it, transfer to the bus and get to a mall. It does not go to the airport as yet. The baseball stadium is within ealking distance.

Traveler's tip for business travelers

Rent a car so you can have options as to what to do, where to go, sights to see, etc when your business is done for the day.

Prime Downtown Location

This hotel was a great place to stay to go to a Diamondbacks game. Walking distance to the stadium at a decent price (would also be good for a suns game). Parking was a little expensive (you have to valet) but the hotel itself was very clean and luxurious.

other Wyndhams better

This hotel was clean for the most part and the service friendly and responsive. The walls are EXTREMELY thin so bring your earplugs and a candle because the rooms smell funny. The Sheraton was first choice, but booked. The fitness room was in really poor condition--ie: malfunctioning and seriously outdated equipment--I think I saw rust on the bikes. You cannot exercise outdoors (101’) so this is a lacking feature that really let me down. The television in the room had very poor speakers therefore too obnoxious to actually listen to. Decor is fun. The bathroom vanity was good but the seperate shower room too dark

I would like to take the time to thank you for your guest feedback regarding your stay with us at the Wyndham Phoenix. We always take our guests feedback seriously and utilize it to improve our guest satisfaction. We are currently planning a complete renovation of our fitness center this summer and it will house completely new treadmills, elliptical trainers, bikes and weight training equipment. In regards to the television sound quality, we have updated all of our rooms with 32 inch flat screen TV’s and this is the first time we have had a complaint regarding the sound quality. There may have been an issue with this particular television and had the guest notified us during there stay, we would have corrected the problem immediately by switching out the TV. If there is ever an issue with the quality of our guest rooms we will make every effort to correct the problem. Thank you again for your feedback.
