Fake interior
I made a reservation at this hotel based on the images on the internet. The historic character seduced me. I was disappointed when I arrived at the premises. The only thing historic left are the lobby and main staircase. The rest is cheap renovation made to look old. Being an architect, I am sensitive to fake materials. My room had a recent wood parquet floor that had nothing seductive about it and a little old pink carpet that needed cleaning. The bathroom, on the other hand, had been renovated and was quite acceptable, but the room was a bit sad all in all. There was free unlimited internet access without the need for an access code, which was good. Unlike in many other hotels, you get a code you have to renew every 8 hours, which is tedious. The staff at the reception were very helpful and nice. The service was personal and you are not treated like a number. But I would certainly try something else next time, I am sure Goteborg has more design hotels to offer, like a new one not too far with a swimming pool on its roof, which is really really sexy.
