A nice place to stay

Although the room was small, it was extremely clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was very good and in a lovely setting.

Traveler's tip

Do not carry your credit card around with you, or if you must, make sure you know where it is at all times. My small backpack, which unfortunately I was using like a purse, was stolen from the restaurant where we were eating.

OK

I had problems with the internet in my original room, but they moved me. Clean but busy tourist class hotel - a fine place to stay for a short visit.

Our trip to Stockholm

The rica hotel is in an excellent location and it is an easy walk to all points of interest. The employees spoke very good English, Which was a big help to us. The room, however, was like a matchbox. It was difficult just to walk around the bed. The bed had a very thin mattress and was too soft for our taste.

highly recommend

This hotel has an ideal location walkable to everything. The staff is friendly, helpful, and the buffet breakfast is fabulous. No health club but a wet sauna which was relaxing after a full day of walking. It was quiet, clean, with a contemporary feel. I will return.

The boat trip to Drottningham is a great way to experience the water landscape and the history of the area. Its also very relaxing.

Excellent prices for Stockholm

This hotel is not in the center of downtown Stockholm, but you would pay much more for a hotel of this quality in the heart of downtown. However, the location was excellent due to the outstanding public transit system. This hotel was very convenient to subway stops, shopping, flower market, etc. Excellent rooms, very clean and a great breakfast buffet. Would highly recomment this hotel.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

If you plan on sightseeing, the Stockholm card was a wise purchase.

Good hotel

We stayed there for 5 nights in a very tiny but comfortable room. We had a pleasant stay and I would recomend it. It’s in a great location in Stockholm, within walking distance to everything.

Traveler's tip on dining

Great market across the street where you can pick up fruits, veggies, and other treats.

Close to Gamla Stan, other areas of interest. Great breakfast and breakfast room. Very helpful staff at desk. Free internet access. No complaints. Would definitely stay there again.

Would go back again

Stayed 3 nights in twin bedroom with my sister. We are used to more space so on a future visit, will probably upgrade to a suite. We had two suitcases and the second suitcase was kind of a squeeze finding room for it. But the room itself was very nice, had a window, very clean, beds comfortable and bathroom was wonderful with dispensers of good products of body lotion, soap, shampoo. Breakfast was of high quality. This place was a very good value. I recommend!

Good location

The Rica was an easy walk from the train station and an excellent base for sightseeing. The bed was nice and firm; the room a bit warm, but fine. Our hairdryer didn’t work, but housekeeping was quick to provide a substitute. The breakfast was good -- scrambled eggs, bacon, a versatile coffee machine, lots of fruit and the usual array of cold cuts and bread.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

We walked most places, but the Stockholm Card is a good buy and covers all museum entrance fees and public transpotation, including T-bana, a ferry to the Vasa Museum and two sightseeing canal cruises.

Good Hotel

This a very good hotel. My room was clean and comfortable. I have stayed there for a week and had no complaints about anything. The only thing is that an iron and and ironing board did not come with the room. You have to go to the 7th floor to press your clothes there. The breakfast was excellent every morning.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

In summer time there is a farmer’s market outside of the hotel every day. You can get fresh fruit there, which is great.

Great hotel in a great location in a great city

If and when I return to Stockholm, I will be happy to stay at the Rica Stockholm. While I’m well aware that it’s neither a designer nor boutique hotel offering stellar, world-class design, it suited the needs of me a tourist. The hotel is located in a great area of town, very close to Gamla Stan (Old Town) and Odermalm (trendy and boutique-y) without paying those prices. It is situated literally next to the floral market which buzzes with energy in the morning and right next to Drottingatan, one of the main streets for shopping in Stockholm. If you take the train from Arlanda airport to Central Station, you’ll be within a three-minute walk to the hotel. Breakfast choice was excellent and diverse, and we could eat enough to keep us full until late lunch. Minibar and room service prices are average among Stockholm prices, the staff were friendly and helpful, the room is not big, but it suited our needs for a five-day visit. Only complaint is that the computer in the lobby was broke for most of our trip, so we couldn’t check email. But if you bring your own computer, the hotel offers broadband.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Fill up on breakfast and buy snacks throughout the day. Skip the restaurants, most of which are expensive) and see the sights by foot. Visit during the summer when you’re more inclined to stay outside and you won’t be bothered by the small size of the room (cosiness).

A mixed review

When we arrived at 1 A.M., staff told us Internet problems had led them to give our reserved, guaranteed room to other customers! Staff arranged for us to stay elsewhere for the night, but we had to travel to reach that place and did not unpack til 2 A.M. The remaining days at the Rica were comfortable ones, but that first night’s mixup would make me look first elsewhere for accomodations in Stockholm.

Traveler's tip

Room lights only turned on and off when the key card was inserted inside a slot inside the room. We hadn’t experienced this system before, and we thought there was something wrong with the lights! So just be advised about this to avoid confusion.

Good Value for the Money

Like other people have said, the hotel has a great location vis a vis the train station and metro. From the train station it’s a straight shot to Arlanda Airport too. So no matter where you’re going next, it’s ready to send you in that direction quickly. The only downside at the moment is the cold and the dollar. The cold goes right through you and the dollar couldn’t buy your way out of a toy store. The attrition rate at which I went through U.S. 100 bills was scary up here in the north. Try to pay for as much as you can in dollars in advance (like hotel rooms on Expedia), buy a rail pass, and just hope the dollar will see better days.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

There is a multiplex theatre right across the street from the hotel so if you get a little home sick you can get your "America Fix" by seeing a movie. (They’re all in English with Swedish subtitles, except the Swedish made ones that are easy to spot).

Good value hotel in Stockholm

The Rica hotel is in the center of stockholm, within 2 blocks of the rail and bus station with transport to the airport. In addition, it’s in the heart of the shopping district and within 10 minutes walk to the harbor. The rooms are big, clean, light, and environmentally designed. It’s a great value.

Great stay

Nice staff and very nice room. This section of Stockholm is quite busy.

Traveler's tip

A bit hard to find. There is another hotel with the exact same name (or very close) only a few hundred meters away.

small, but clean

Pros: 1) very clean hotel 2) free breakfast (although, that’s standards in this area) 3) Located within a couple of blocks from Central Station Cons: 1) The hotel is surrounded by Burger King, H&M, etc. so if you want to stay somewhere more picturesque, you should consider closer to the water and/or Gamla Stan 2) The room is very small. Apparently, this is normal for Europe, but it’s a bit shocking when you first see it (especially, for the price paid). It’s about the size of a college dorm room. 3) There’s no alarm clock and they missed a wake-up call so it’s best to bring your own.

Great location, nice hotel, reasonable price

We loved the location, easy walk to the areas we wanted to visit. Rooms were clean, comfortable, pretty good size for a downtown european hotel. Only thing I had trouble with was the AC control; the dial isn’t clear how to use and I couldn’t get the room as cool as I’d like.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Hop-on-hop-off tour bus is a great way to see the main tourist attractions. Vasa museum was a group favorite.

Great Value in an Expensive City

On a quiet dead-end street in the middle of City Center. Our room was immaculate, quiet, and overlooked an interior cafe. Charming and reasonably priced. Would definitely stay here again. I was blown away by Stockholm! Beautiful!
