Very good hotel in Buenos Aires

It is a very nice hotel in a good location. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was small but clean and breakfasts were excellent. I also recommend hotel’s restaurant.

Good Hotel

This hotel was an important hotel in former times. The staff is very professional, but the rooms need some redoing. The rooms are quite outdated, but comfortable. The main problem is the location. At night it can get dangerous.

Very good hotel at a very reasonable price.

The Claridge Hotel has a reputation for quality and it is well deserved. While it is an old building it is in very good shape and the people are excellent. Breakfast is very good and the service is excellent.I believe that the reason why the rate is so low when compare with similar hotels is that the area where is located that used to be very safe has become dangerous by evening. My only complaint is that I didn’t know that the area has changed so much and the hotel people never warned me. By 9PM I was walking with my wife a a couple of friends 2 blocks from the Hotel on Calle Florida and Lavalle and they picked my wallet from my pocket. I had 4 credit card, an ATM Card, my Driver License an other IDs. Later I learned that it is very common. Lucky I left my passport at the hotel in a safe deposit. The staff was very helpful when I started calling to my Credit Card Issuers from 10PM to 2 am. I used the phone at the reception and they did not charge me for the calls

Traveler's tip

Carry the minimum you can in your wallet and don’t carry it in an accessible pocket. Try to conceal your Ids. Some people recommend that one just carry a photocopy of an ID For ladies, when in a crowded area they may try to cut your purse with a surgical instrument to steal your wallet. Be careful with ATMs, when I was in Buenos Aires I saw in TV that there are people that connect readers and cameras to ATM to steal your info and PIN.

The past has been saved

I only have good things to say about this hotel. I arrived at 9:30am, after a long flight, and my room was ready. The front desk, including the bellmen, were extreamly helpful. The breakfast was wonderful, and they kept it stocked even after the closing time. The room was large enough and the bath was very European. Finally, the housekeeping staff was great and very professional. If you want quality and not flash, I recommend this hotel.

Nice Location. 3 star at most....

Don’t get me wrong, Claridge Hotel is a nice hotel. Very well situated, near some atractions like Porto Madero and Florida Calle. The Service is one of the best I ever had, but.... - Our room isn’t any close to a 4 star.... - TV is older than me ... ok, tou don’t like tv... but still... - The price is too high for what you get.. Nice location, but too expensive for what you receive back.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Nice attractions near the hotel. Porto Madero: Walking distance. Nice restaurants. One of the best places to be in Buenos Aires. Try LAS LILAS restaurant. You will never forget. Calle Florida: used to be a nice place to shopping, but now....

Super value for the price

Great location, friendly staff and boutique quality. Everyone from the desk staff to the doorman was friendly and anxious to make us comfortable. The hotel has a comfortable and homey atmosphere. The breakfast buffet was varied and plentiful with a generous window of opportunity. The only point that prevented a "5" overall rating is that the br closed at 11PM. With the BA nightlife, even for the mature traveller, starting and ending late, we returned to the hotel with an expectation to enjoy a night-cap or 2 in the comfort and safety of a window seat of the Lobby Bar and were disappointed that even on a Friday and Saturday night, it closed at 11PM. Other than that, great value for the money.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Adjacent to the exciting Florida and Santa Fe shopping district. Lots of bargains and a vriety of shops.

Worked very for our travels

The hotel staff was very helpful. Particularly the concierge desk. Good central location. Nice selection of foods on the breakfast buffet. Only negatives were the size of the room(tight but adequate) and that it was time for the room to be refreshed. Still, I would be happy to stay there again and wish all my hotel experiences were as good.

Great Hotel

Upon arrival for a seven-night stay we were upgraded to a larger room with a balcony and a very large bathroom. The complimentary breakfast buffet was outstanding as was the service. My wife called the desk to ask for an electric coffeemaker and it arrived within minutes. The same happened when she requested an electrical adapter to charge her mp3 player. There was also a business center that provided free internet access and printers. All-in-all one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in and because of a favorable exchange rate very reasonable.

Traveler's tip

If possible when you need a taxi have the hotel call for one. When hailing a cab on the street make sure it is a "radio taxi." The only unpleasant experience was geeting ripped off by a taxi driver of a cab we had haile. Everything else about Buenos Aires was great.

Loccation was great!

Location was just off Florida St. and close to many key areas so that was the strongest point of the hotel to us. The room was very small and the built in hair dryer seemed to be such low power that it was worthless. One of the staff was very knowledgeable, but one did not seem to understand English very well or not be very helpful with information.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

We took a walking trip that was very informative and a great way to see the city. They met on the end of Florida street close to San Martin Square.

Home away from Home

This was our first visit to Buenos Aires. Staying at the Claridge was wonderful - the staff very helpful guiding us with where to go and what to see and then arranging all for us. After 10+ days, we felt like we were saying goodbye to family, but we so look forward to going back!

Location is properly the only reason I would go back.

No heat. Restaurant closed 2 nights with no advanced notce to guest. No smoking. $20.00 limit on money exchange. Toilet that ran all night. Terrible room service food and bar food in city known for great food. I ordered 2 soft boilded eggs 1 was perfect the other was hard. Next day I ordered 2 eggs over easy--both were hard.

A good value for the money

Overall the hotel was very nice and in a great location to visit all parts of the city. The common spaces, pool, lounge, gym, etc. were all very nice. The breakfast buffet was not great, but was still a nice way to start the day.

Excellent Hotel, Helpful Staff & Good Location

The Claridge Hotel turned out to be an excellent choice for our fist visit to Buenos Aires. The hotel facilities were very good, the included breakfast was fresh and extensive, the location was very good and in walking distance to many sites, and the wonderful staff most helpful in recommending restaurants and arranging airport transport.

Stay There

This was our 4th visit to the Claridge, a very well mainained english style hotel in the best location for visitors to BUE. The rooms are not big but comfortable and clean, so the bathrooms. Service is attentive, the free Internetaccess in the business center an asset. The nice bar invites for drinks and to spend waiting time on your way to the airport after checkout time, so the restaurant. A new set of TV sets in the rooms and the business center, a better offer from cable TV and some more international papers in the bar room would be aporeciated.

Claridge Hotel Stay

The location was great (a block from Floreda Street), the staff was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was wonderful (included in the stay). Besides the nice amenities, the Hotel offered a nice pool and exercise facility. Though the building is pretty old, with thin walls, it is maintained well and all rooms are equipped with modern safes. The only downfall is the small bathrooms but that’s how they made the rooms back then, it was all part of the Argentinian experience.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Floreda Street is the shopping capital of Argentina. Be prepared to buy a leather jacket even if you don’t want one (great prices and willing to bargain). There is a great steak house right around the corner from the Claridge with good prices. Take cabs, they are safe and a dime a dozen but hang on for dear life.

Came three times in two weeks, and was very pleased every time.

Excellent location close to theatre, culture, some good restaurants, and not to forget shops. Through Expedia the hotel is the right price, a substantial difference with the in-person booking.

Very decent hotel in central Buenos Aires

Hotel is centrally located. Area is very active during the day, but a bit edgy at night. Rooms and most services were very good. Concierge staff needs attitude adjustment and training. Good outdoor swimming pool and spa. Good value for the cost. Good breakfast buffet.

Traveler's tip on dining

Dining in BA is great. Many restaurants nearby including 1820 a few steps away and several others at Porto Moderno. Taxis are a great value

Great location

Although located on a busy st 1/2 block from Floridia St the Clairdge is very Quiet and peaceful inside. The room was clean, the service was good and I could not find one thing to complain about. We stayed 5 days and I felt I made a good choice.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Just stroll down Florida St and shop till you drop. There are some great leather shops and in the evenings locals will display their wares on the street.

Great value, very comfortable, excellent breakfast

The Claridge turned out to be an excellent value -- very clean and comfortable at a reasonable price. The buffet breakfast was included. The hotel was right next to the pedestrian-only shopping on Florida and within walking distance of much else. Taxis to La Boca, San Telmo and Recoleta Cemetery, etc. are cheap.

Traveler's tip on dining

La Posada de 1820 is an excellent and inexpensive traditional Argentine restaurant right by the hotel (exiting the hotel, turn left and walk a quarter block on Tucuman).
