Nice stay
I enjoyed my stay at the Fairmont Southampton. It was the bright spot in my otherwise bleak trip where everything that could go wrong went wrong. The staff there was very nice and helpful with giving us information on places to visit and do some shopping (our luggage was lost). They also provided us with a care package with items like a comb, deodorant, and a toothbrush so that we didnt feel completely desolate due to not having any luggage. We were also upgraded to a Gold room on the 6th floor. My only complaint was that the people in the hot tub were so loud that I found it difficult to sleep on our last night, but other than that, I enjoyed staying at this hotel.
One thing that I did not know is that the climate in late October was a bit on the chilly side. Not cold, just not hot and humid like expected it would be.

Spectacular Hotel
The view across to Hamilton from our fifth floor room was unbelievable. The shuttle service to the beach, the ferry and two restaurants made getting around this hotel on a huge hill a pleasant experience as well. Leaving the hotel required a cab; not much you could walk to. The deluxe room we got was a very nice size with a large baclony to sit and have free our in-room coffee every morning. The many choices of on premises restaurants were all pricey (as all Bermuda restaurants are) but the service was very good. The food was good but weve had better in restaurants at home. The Wine Cellar night club was fun. It was situated outside the hotel in a huge cave. All things considered we cant wait for our next stay at this gorgeous hotel.

A great experience
The accommodations were great, staff treated us well and the room itself was very comfortable and pleasing to the eye. The view was good not great. We had to ask for room on a higher floor to avoid having the roof in our primary field of view. The view we had was described as a "partial view". It was on the golf course/ocean side. If you are below the 5th floor its more like roof/golf course/oecean. We were out of the room most of the time anyway. It does make it nicdewhen dining on the balcony to have a nice view. Overall it was a great stay.

Bermuda
The only issue is that when asking questions of the staff you received different inconsistant answers, in some cases it appeared as though they would rather answer than just say they did not know, otherwise the hotel was beautiful

Our first visit and will do it all again!
Service was exceptional---personal, friendly and attentive. We stayed on the 6th "gold" level which included a good continental breakfast and great afternoon tea and snacks---which helped make an expensive island more affordable. I would not do it any other way. The room was fresh with a great view. The TV was terrible. Onsite we ate at the Waterlot and Wickets--both good but not great. We had drinks at The Cellar Lounge, which was dissapointing and weird.. The beach is private and beautiful but a quick trolley ride away. The pool was nice but relatively small---not a problem in October but probably jammed in high season. The complimentary ferry service to Hamilton is great but you need to plan your departure and return times. Public buses with all day passes are a nice way to get around or rent a scooter if you are brave.
Off season, before or after the kids are out of school, seems to be the time to visit. Less crowds, less kids and warm weather make for a better trip.

Cant wait to go back
The Fairmont Southampton is one of the nicest hotels on the island. We found the trolley to the beach and to the Waterlot Inn (where you can catch a bus or the ferry) very convenient. The only downside is that you are far from Hamilton if that is where you want to spend some time. After a week, we got a little sick of the breakfast buffet but your breakfast options are limited. Unfortunately the Newport Room was closed but it should be reopening at Christmas. Overall, I would definitely stay here again.

wonderful hotel. Great staff and restaurants. The Waterlott Inn had great food and service. The hotel beach is next to horseshoe bay beach and a couple of little quaint beaches. This is a 30 minute ferry that takes you to town if you would like to shop.

Great stay
The hotel is beautiful and the gorunds are spectacular!! We loved the end of summer rate. That allowed us to visit. The Hotel is not yet where they should be in terms of Wifi or internet service. Also the price of food is astromonical, especially cocktails. I think if they jsut lowered the cost a bit it would do a world of good.. We intend to come back next year with more people. Just hope the end of summer rate is offered again!!

Service has gone down hill since my last visit 7 years ago. Very dissapointed
My visit 2 weeks ago was very dissapointing. I requested an ocean view which was written in my reservation but was told there were no more ocean rooms available. One of the sinks would not drain and fitted sheet would not stay on the matress. The restaurant service was below average and it was very difficult communicating to much of the staff who did not speak English very well. Considering the 17% gratuity that we had to pay, we did not feel they deserved it. I would not return to the Fairmont

Good resort - great Island!
Great family and couple friendly hotel, but please do be advised that it is very large/spread out and the hotel trolley (which does run regulary/every 15 minutes) must be used to get to the beach, Hamilton Ferry and some of the resort restaurants. This is coming from a person that likes to walk a lot!
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Use the free hotel ferry to Hamilton to avoid expensive cab rides and enjoy the scenery - just be advised that it only runs 4 times a day.

Paradise Found
Service was wonderful everywhere at this hotel. We got the meal plan (Call or email hotel to get meal plan details) We ate gourmet meals at three of the restaurants on site. (Off season they rotate days open)Oceanside bar fabulous oceanside table with fresh fish with asian fusion style. Waterlot bacon wrapped dates salad, Gratin potatoes and sticky toffee pudding were highlights, at Bacci/Italian with homemade pasta (spaghetti carbonara, mushroom risotto and osso bucco). The beach is private and the water pristine.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Bermuda is expensive, but so worth it. If you want to save $$ and get some exercise-You can walk to local town/grocery store and church by taking the nature path at the bottom of the hill behind the hotel.

Not impressed
For the class and the price of the hotel room, I was really disappointed with the service and maintenance -- the blocked bath drain was not fixed after repeated complaints, in-room breakfast service order was not delivered at all - without any apologies. Room cleaning and maintenance service was hit-or-miss -- towels, coffee, teabags etc. were not replaced properly every day.

Average looking on the outside, but beautiful inside. Staff is helpful and friendly. Restaurants are very good although the prices are quite high even by NY standards. Beach is nice.
Traveler's tip
We enjoyed riding the bus one day around the island, stopping wherever we felt like it, then catching the next one which runs frequently. We got to talk to some of the lovely residents of Bermuda and see the various parts of the island.

Great place to stay with TONS of Great restaurants
I saw other reviews of this hotel and was nervous about staying here. I found the room to be comfy and clean although the TV service was HORRIBLE. But, we didnt stay in the room to watch TV anyway. The indoor pool was awesome. The trolley service quick and the concierge was helpful. The beach did have a lot of seaweed which was disappointing. We went next door to Horseshoe Bay and did not see a shred of seaweed. We ate at the Waterlot, Jasmine and Windows on the sound. Never had a bad meal.
Traveler's tip on dining
Bring a ton of money if you are planning on eating out every night. Also, try the Fish Chowder or locally caught rock fish. If you are looking for a new drink try the Dark and Stormy or the Swizzle. Delicious!

Glad I stayed there, but didnt get wowed
Staff was either great, or didnt care to see another guest. Concierge personnel were fantastic. Front desk and some of the waitstaff - not so much. Avoid the Cabana at all costs - either walked to the lighthouse or took bus to Coconuts for lunch. Split time between the hotel beach and Horseshoe Beach next door. The hotel dive shop canceled the 2pm snorkeling trip every day. Next time I will go with a bigger outfit. Waterlot was a dining experience. $$$$ But worth it. I liked the location and the property, and was sorry I was not a golfer. Taking a trolley to the beach was not a problem, as wait time was short.
Traveler's tip on dining
Try the lighthouse for lunch. Half mile walk or so. Smart casual dress. Call first, as with everything else on the island - posted hours are just a guide.

Bermudas Best
This hotel had all you could ever have or need. We loved the complimentary ferry service to Hamilton. The private beach was very nice and never crowded. The service from the concierge to the bellman were top notch. Everyone was friendly and were able to help you out in any way. Cant wait to go back and without a doubt will be staying there again.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Everything was offered here. Private beach, scuba and other water activities, golf and complimentary ferry service to check out Hamilton.

Classic, elegant destination
We were impressed with the service and quality of the Fairmont South Hampton Princess. All staff was helpful and gracious. The "Gold" 6th floor was wonderful with all their complimetary meals and soft drinks presented so elegantly, fresh and delicious. Highly recommend this hotel, having traveled extensively in the Carribean, Mexico and other tropical destinations....This hotel ranks high on our list. Family friendly. Pool a little crowded.

Would love to come back next year the same time.
Hotel accommodations were fabulous. Room, staff and beach were first class. Only complaint is I thought the food prices were on the high side and rather expensive.

Good price, but have to be satisified with what you get
Initially we booked a room with a king size bed. When we got there they said they are out of those rooms and gave us a 2 twin bed room. We are a married couple and you know what is it like. The mattresses on the bed were horrible. But we got over it and the rest of the stay was wonderful.
A good family hangout with their private beach, golf course, swimming pool, and good restaurants.

Overall was good (but expected more of the Fairmont)
Check in was a bit confused (first gave us a room with a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the knob, we returned down to reception and they insisted it was a free room. It turns out it was a room that had not been cleaned, so back down we went again for another room). I was expecting more of the room - it was clean but a little run down (wall paper peeling off the wall in the bath). Maid service was spotty (failed to re-stock the mini-bar two out of our 3 days there, didn t replace wash-cloths, etc.). Shuttle service to the beach and ferry is frequent and nice considering the steep hills. Private beach was nice (although a bit small, a lot of seaweed). The beachs cafe didnt have much of a food selection (and was very expensive). Highly recommend the Wickets Inn restaurant.

Great hotel!
My husband and I went to Bermuda for the first time for a long weekend for our anniversary. We loved it! The Fairmont Southampton is a beautiful hotel. Unfortunately our rooms were not ready when we first arrived, but the bell man provided us with rooms to change our clothes, so we could hit the beach while we waited. The breakfasts are really expensive ($6 per glass of OJ!, etc), but otherwise we found the food to be really good, and the lunches and dinners were not as overpriced.
Traveler's tip on dining
Take a quick taxi ride from the hotel to the Rum Swizzle Inn for dinner. Its a fun place, and you cant beat the drinks! Also, the buses (public transportation) in Bermuda are very nice. We took the ferry from the Fairmont Southampton hotel over to Hamilton, but when we were ready to return, we realized the next ferry wasnt for several hours. So, we took the bus back to the hotel - and it was a great experience! Nice way to see some of the local streets, etc!

Wont Be Coming Back to this hotel or Bermuda Again
The cost of staying at the Fairmont was exhorbatant. I couldnt believe I was charged $18.00 for coffee and orange juice each morning! You have to be kidding me. $29.00 for the breakfast buffet was too much. Add to that, screaming children everywhere. The Fairmont seemed like the Holiday Inn to me not the place we remembered 34yrs ago when we were married and stayed at the Southmapton Princess. No night life, no entertainment provided at this hotel? What happened to the Bermuda I knew and loved so much that I wanted to come back to it 34 years later. It is a shame. After dinner, there is nothing to do. You can get a drink in the lobby but you have to listen to a music tape that played the same songs over and over again. You can only listen to, "String of Pearls" only so much! We will not be coming back to Bermuda or the Fairmont Hotel again.
