What you pay is what you get
We went during peak season (in June) so airfare and accomodations were through the roof. This place was reasonably priced and appeared decent. Upon arrival, the place looked better than we imagined. The rooms are a little small but while in Paris, who wants to stay in the hotel room all the time? The person working at the front desk in the evening is what totally ruined my mood and stay at the hotel. We got back at 1am and the front door was locked for security reasons and I knocked to get his attention. To my surprise I was yelled at because he felt I was rushing him because I had my hand on the door handle. I am a paying customer and dont deserve to be treated like that. So if you stay here be wary of the cranky and rude employees. Other cons: no mini safe to store your valuables in the room, hairdryer in the room is horrible, TV in room is very small. Pros: close to the Metro, next door to a market. Like I said, what you pay is what you get. We had 4 people in our room so the price per night per person was close to nothing. But if you will be like us and only use the hotel as a place to sleep and shower, then who cares...most of the time you will be out on the town anyways. Oh yeah, the neighborhood: in the daytime you are down the block from a busy area so it is safe. In the evening, the walk back to the hotel from the Metro (5 min walk)...the streets are quiet but not scary.
Traveler's tip
Like in any big city, be wary of pickpockets. We have seen our share of incidents in our 7 days in Paris. If anyone suspicious speaks to you, say NO FRANCES and they get deterred and back off.

A Great Place to Stay
My wife and I stayed at this hotel in early April, so the weather was neither too hot or too cold. This hotel had firm beds was very clean, and was a great value. The only drawback was that although the location is on a quite street, sometimes you could hear street noise from the Boulevard Magenta half a block away. But if you get a room in the back this should not be a problem.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
This hotel is just a few block away from both Gare du Nord (easy access to Charles De Gaule Airport by express Train) and Gare dlest a major subway hub. So its easy to get to other areas in Paris.
