A fellow traveller arrived to check-in after room service and all restaurants had shut down. 10 minutes later, the front desk staff managed to bring him some fruit and a sandwich, without his even asking!

I have stayed at this hotel multiple times a year in the past several years and generally very happy with the experience. Occasionally there may be a minor problem with the room but this is generally promptly handled. I have never stayed in a standard room so I do not know what these are like. But, I can say it is worth the cost to book a suite here. Also try to get a room on the original non smoking floors. In my last stay I was in a suite on two and that still had some what of an odor. Another minor annoyance is the lack of free internet access and occasional problems with the t-moible hot spot I usually order room service multiple times during my stay and it is curious that the same item can very greatly in quality so this is always some what of a gamble. The room service menu also is somewhat lacking in variety especially if you have any dietary restrictions. Additionally, I have also tried multiple times to order something from the menu at the two dining rooms during their operating hours and have always been told this is impossible despite what they may say at the front desk. However room service staff is always very professional and helpful. Also the service here is much better than that at the local hyatt or W. Another plus is the no hassle close to door self parking (I hate valet and the feeling I do not have immediate access to my car- though that is available here) and easy access to highways, shopping and airport.

A week at Sofitel MPLS

I stayed a week so my perspective may be a bit different than some. Overall, while I found the staff very polite and helpful, I thought that the food, the room noise and the overall room experience did not add up to the cost. Perhaps Sofitel had its day, but I think the rooms are a bit outdated, small and noisy and they were not worth the cost. It is not a bad place, just not worth what they want you to pay.

The best ’doggie friendly’ hotel in the world

We stayed with our 2 small dogs for the weekend. There were so many little well behaved pets on leashes that we were asked if the hotel was having a dog show there. We were greeted with all natural doggie biscuits, there was a great walking trail alongside the parking lot complete with lots of grass and sidewalk. Coffee and French pastries were free for the early birds in the morning. The restaurant food is to die for and although we arrived very late the first night we enjoyed a salmon, caper, and cream cheese pizza at 10:30pm in the bar. Check out the wine list then go to your room and sleep on real feather mattress pads. Next the staff....amazingly friendly and professional from the greeters at the door to the wait staff and maids that were always smiling and greeting us. What more can you ask for!

Problems handled promptly

Room was large and well appointed. The beds were amazing!!! The weekend of our stay there were several large wedding receptions that took place at the hotel. Some of the guests were in a room next two us and had a party in the room. After lying awake until 2am I decided to have the hotel staff intervene. The party was over within five minutes of my call to the front desk. The staff was professional and efficent. I would definately stay again.

the Galleria on France Ave. is great! also Grand Ave. in St. Paul is awesome not your tipical Mall shopping, it’s more like neihgborhood feel very nice!

Still as good as I remember

This is the second time we have stayed at the Sofitel in Minn. The room was spacious and the bed is to die for. After our first stay we tried to recreate the room in our own home. The bed is the most comfotable one you will ever sleep in. Great restaurant for breakfast and nice bakery if you are one the run. We arrived later at night and had cocktails at the bar, great service and nice complementary olives and crackers. I would recommend this place to anyone.

The Absolute BEST!

The hotel and staff were second to none. They made us feel as if we were the most important people in hotel, and there were plenty of other guests. In one word; WOW!

A favorite hotel!

The Sofitel is a clean, comfortable hotel with great restaurants. It is also in a great location making it easy to access highways and freeways to drive anywhere in the Twin Cities.

Great stay

We took a girl’s trip and absolutely loved the hotel. We thought it had great atmosphere and service. The food was amazing! :) You usually don’t expect hotel food to be good. We ate there 3 times rather than trying to find restaurants in the city. I would definitely recommend this to any of my friends.

Luxury

This was my first time ever in a 4 STAR hotel. It was totally awsome. Will definitely try to go again. The rate was quite reasonable as well. Beyond my expectations.

We did not get two beds as reserved, It was crucial we had them.

The hotel, after we fussed and protested, upgraded us to a suite, but we still didn’t have 2 beds, just a cot. Also, the design of the hotel makes it very noisy as the room is above the lobby, and all the lobby sounds. This also means there is no window to the outside, providing natural light.

Incredible service!

I stayed at this hotel once before - probably 30 years ago. This trip, I could not believe that this was not a less-than-two-years-old establishment. From the room decor, to the halls, to the lobby, everything was as new! Customer service was everything you could ask - from Valet Parking to Maid Service to Front Desk, everyone treated me wonderfully!

Don’t judge a book by its cover

It looks dated from the outside, but the interior is much nicer. Well located near several major highways (I494, I35, HWY62) for easy travel around the twin cities and suburbs. The room was decent sized, well designed, and most important the bed was quite comfortable. The bathroom shower had a rainfall showerhead, an alway welcome feature. The staff was very nice and accomodating. Certainly a hotel we would stay at again.
