Hotel Les 13 Assiettes - Excellent Value and Location
My spouse and I spent one night at Hotel Les 13 Assiettes and enjoyed our stay very much. Our room was located on the top floor looking out over a large scenic pasture, with a few horses. Our room was very charming, very clean, and peaceful. We did not try the hotel’s pool, but it looked very clean. We had one dinner, which was outstanding, although the services was a little awkward, possibly due to cultural differences where food service appears to be a serial process. Multiplexing is a foreign term. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The town of Portobault was very charming and interesting, probably one of the most well kept, organized small villages that we saw during our two week auto tour of France. The hotel location is excellent too, facilitating visits to the Normandie Beach Invasion, American Cemetery, and other interesting places along the coast. If we could have stayed longer at this hotel, we would have done so. We think the value was excellent and recommend this to people that wish to enjoy a hotel that offers a quasi-bed and breakfast style service. We are not sure what each of the 13 "assiettes" were, per the hotel’s title, but at least one "assiette" must be "charm."
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Don’t waste your money paying for a gasoline fill-up when you rent a car from Hertz in France. You had better ensure the tank is empty when you drop it off as you will be charged the full amount for a refill, regardless of the amount of gasoline in the tank.
