Great Scenery

The rooms spacious enough, but pretty simple. The real attraction is the views of Mt. McKinnley from the Hotel. They are magnificient. A good place to stop for a night on the way to Denali.

It’s fine except for A.M. coffee. See below

Come on--no in room coffee. Can’t get coffee before 6:00 A.M.in the coffee shop. Never heard of such a thing in the USA.

HIking Paths mapped out for guests

The grounds were very well maintained. The staff is exceptional and professional. The location is semi-remote being an hours drive into Talkeetna. Although the view of Mt. McKinley is exceptional. And, you are given many opportunities for a front row seat from which to enjoy the view and Mt. McKinley’s majesty throughout the Lodge.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Our teenagers enjoyed Mahay’s Devils Canyon Jet boat tour with Captain Israel, and K 2 Aviation Glacier Flightseeing, both based in Talkeetna.

Improvement needed

Due to the late tours via Denali the resort should have at least one open of a late night food venue. At least until 12:30-1 am

Please note the location

I thought this hotel would be close to the entrance to Denali National Park. Well, it’s a 100 mile drive to get to the entrance. There is really nothing around it but some hiking trails. Otherwise than that the hotel is great.....

Great Choice

Our reservations were made as a last minute decision, and after the first few hours there, we wished we had booked for more than the one night. Beautiful setting, great food and service was exceptional

There Are TWO Princess Hotels in the Denali area

We were originally booked at the McKinley Princess but nobody with the AK Railroad in Anchorage knew about THAT facility. Our luggage was sent (along with us) to the Princess Denali resort. Our reservations were moved there and the cost was the same. Nice place, overall. would recommend.

Traveler's tip

Be sure baggage handlers and others know that there are TWO Princess resorts in the Denali area.
