Just right for me.

The food was good and the room was very clean. I’d stay there again.

cute room

It was clean which is one of the most important aspects I care about. The room was small but comfortable. It was pretty close to all the important plazas and turistics places which made it easy for me to get around.

Great location; Bed was not so comfortable

Hotel was easy walk to Gran Via (shopping, restaurants), Palacio Real, Opera, etc. Also, Metro is just across the street. Great location. However,I did not sleep well because I found the bed was too hard. Overall, hotel was fine.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Save 25 Euros taxi fare - get to the hotel by Metro, it’s easy. Take pink line to NUEVOS MINISTERIOS then transfer to blue line (dir of Puerta del Sur) get off at PLAZA ESPANA. Walk up Leganitos Street, at top of hill is hotel. (Note that the Metro stop in front of hotel is called Santo Domingo, but to get to that stop requires more transfers.)

A great deal!!!

The hotel was right across the street from the Metro, in a great location. We were able to walk to Palace Real and Puerta del Sol. I absolutely loved it. The staff was extremely helpful and cordial. The hotel is very comfortable, room are very tiny, but when you are in Madrid, you hardly spend that much time in the room, so who cares! Spaniards are very clean, so it was not a problem within the hotel.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

They have free internet downstairs, use it!!!! Also, breakfast at Cafe Oriente (about 5 mins walk away from the hotel), is worth it with the scrumptious cafe de leche and the view of the palace!

Lovely Hotel

Cozy hotel across the street from the Santo Domingo Metro station. Great location near the palace and easy walk to Plaza Mayor. Courteous English speaking staff who are happy to provide local information. Good value.

Hotel was ok, Would rate as a 3 star hotel.

Very good location, Booked a small room, Got a very small room. Food was fair. Location was worth the discomfort. If I ever go back to Spain I would stay there.

Traveler's tip on dining

Food in Spain is quite different from what I like, and very expensive. All day trip to Toledo, Spain was best part of trip. Got lost walking around Madrid often, Need a good map if you walk around.

Madrid good hotel to stay

Very good location and underground just out of the hotel. Be sure to book a superior room, the Standard room is extremly unconfortable and mattress in not good condition, we asked for an upgrade and we were moved to a superior room very clean, big and with a lot of space for luggage and bags.

Small Room but very nice - centrally located

The hotel was centrally located and within walking distance (around the block) of tour busses and main street. Staff was very helpful and friendly.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Good shopping and theater district just 1 block away

Rooms are matchbox sized

The rooms are far too small. We could only fit one suitcase on the floor. Everything else was piled on top due to lack of space. In addition, the hotel is located in a very noisy area. At one point, it sounded like bombs were going off. But it was just a bunch of drunk people throwing glass bottles around. Not a great place to stay at all, especially for a romantic holiday, no way.

Don’t Stay Here if You Care to Sleep

The room was small and uncomfortable (even considering we had a queen bed). Our balcony was right next to a disco, so we were not able to get any sleep. The food downstairs was sub par. I would give this hotel 2 1/2 stars, but nowhere near the 4 stars that Expedia gives it. The staff is top notch, but thats about the only positive thing that I got from this hotel.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Learn how to ride the metro! Its less expensive than a taxi and much more convenient than the buses.

Comfortable Place to Stay

The Best Western Premier Hotel Santo Domingo is in an ideal location! There is a subway stop right across the street from the hotel entrance. There is a major bank with ATM right across the street. There was a little grocery store next door perfect for buying snacks, fresh fruit, or the toiletries you may have left at home. The neighborhood had an Arabic flavor. My wife and I walked from the hotel to the Prado Museum, and also walked to the Palacio Real. The only shortcoming was the restaurant inside the hotel. It was expensive and the menu did not suite my wife’s vegetarian diet. And, the hotel only offered one computer with access to the internet. But, the rooms, the decor, the bathroom, the comfortable bed, and helpful staff all made our stay a good one.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Be sure to go for a walk in the City Park.

Great stay! Central location

I was just spending a night in Madrid in my way to another city and I decided to make a reservation at the Santo Domingo, since I already knew the area and liked it. I was coming from overseas after a night flight and the hotel staff were kind enough to let me check in a bit earlier, so I could have a nap. Room was a bit small, however, comfortable, clean, and a bargain (taking in consideration the rate and the location). In general I had a great stay, very helpful and kind staff.

Travelers in Madrid

We enjoyed the hotle. It is in a good location. The staff was very good and helpful. The only problem we had was extreme noise outside the hotel two of the five nights we were there.

Good location

This hotel is located in the Plaza of Santo Domingo which is about a minute’s walking distance from the Gran Via where all the stores, restaurants, movie theaters are located. There is a subway station right across the street from the hotel, which made traveling around Madrid very easy, especially with the 3 day metro/bus I purchased through Expedia. Although my room was tiny, it was cleaned every day. The receptionist showed me some of the other rooms and suites and I was impressed. If you need a single or bigger, I highly recommend it. You can’t beat the location especially for the price.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Within minutes you can find all the stores, the mall (El Cortes Ingles), the movie theaters, and restaurants. One minute away from the Gran Via where all these spots are located.

I would go back to this hotel. It is well situated, one block of Gran Via

It is well situated, one block from Gran Via and subway is across the Hotel. Good breakfast buffet, not included but there if you care for it. Coffee without charge, also. Personal is very helpful.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Safe place, centric and you are able to move on the subway or bus.

Good Business-Class Hotel Near City Center

We stayed here 6 nights while we toured Madrid, Segovia and Toledo. The rooms and common areas were quite clean and attractive, if a little small. The staff were helpful, gracious and efficient. The location was pretty good -- northwest corner of the central city, not in any tourist hot spots, but close enough, especially to the palace and theater, and with a metro stop half a block away.

Traveler's tip on dining

Don’t over-tip at Madrid restaurants and cafes: The staff do not like the suggestion that they are for sale. Maximums: 10% at tables is substantial, and nothing is welcome when seated at the bar.
