They need to train their staff better

It’s a Marriott, so fulfillment of all the usual hotel quality parameters can be taken as given. Locationwise, it’s excellent -- walking distance from the Zurich Hauptbahnhof. When the taxi took too long to arrive, I simply walked to Zurich HB ---with my three bags. No sweat! The view from my room was simply fantastic --- Zurich skyline with the Limmat riverbank along with the snow-covered hills in the distance! The executive lounge is a great place, too! What rankled, though, was that their staff have not been properly briefed on what is or isn’t included in the bookings made through expedia -- so, I ended up paying for things which I shouldn’t have. For example, my executive room entitled me to a breakfast in the executive lounge only --- not in the regular breakfast buffet. Their staff didn’t inform me and I ended up paying CHF 40 for a breakfast I had in the regular buffet. Further, even in the Exec Lunge, everything is not free....but without explaining this to me, their waitress in the Exec Lounge gave me the a la carte menu from which I ordered, thinking that it is part of the premium I paid for an exec room but was promptly presented with a CHF 56 bill after the meal. That’s almost CHF 100 in one day !! Apart from this irritant, my hotel stay was great. And, of course, Expedia got me a rate cheaper than even the Zurich Best Western Montana where I stayed for the first two days of my stay in Zurich before shifting to the Marriott. Wow !

Try booking through Expedia --- some great deals are available. Stay near the Zurich HB, esp. if you are a museum lover. ...most museums are in this area. Bahnhofstrasse and Niederdorf and the Zurichsee are at a walking distance, too. And do buy the Zurich card. It pays many times its value. Of course, if you are planning to travel to more than two cities in Switzerland, it’s a no-brainer to buy the Swiss Rail pass --- it gets you free entry to almost all museums, apart from freeing you from the hassle of queuing to buy tickets for local transport repeatedly. It can also let you indulge in trip to a nearby town on an impulse without having to worry about the cost. Have fun!

-Very expensive to eat (even the cheaper restaurants were even expensive) -limited parking and expensive -remember in Europe no stores are open on Sunday and close around 6 or 7 on the weekdays

Review

This hotel was very nice and comfortable. The thai resturant was also good. The hotel is located a few blocks north of the train station and about a 10 minute walk (or less) to the tourist areas. While it is not located in the center of the tourist area, is a easy walk. I would stay here again since it is hard to find a nice hotel like this in Europe at a good rate.

Zurich is a nice weekend trip worth a couple of days to visit and relax.

the location was perfect- if take in mind we were travelling in Switzerland by car. it was very easy to find it when we arrive in Zurich and it was very easy to go out to the airport -only 15 min MAX, and just 2-3 turns and you you are subway to airpot; car parking is easy. from the other side it is only 15 min by walk to the centre . rooms are not huge - but for sleeping only is more than enough! if you are going to spend main time not in the room but outside - it is fine and it is fully equiped with all small things you main ask - iron and iron desk, Tea/Coffee maker are already in the room - it is very convinient- when u do not need to call for it. So we, three guys, from Ukraine, recommend this hotel for biz travellers and for siteseeing as well.

great hotel, friendly staff and very clean. stopped in zurich on my way to basel. i travel frequently and this was a wonderful surprise.

*my only complaint* internet for the room was way too expensive make sure to include the breakfast buffet in your purchase. well worth it.

Very nice

My only complaint with this lovely hotel was that I booked four rooms: two for two people and two for three and the triples were not set up appropriately and we had to ask for roll-away beds after we saw the rooms. There really wasn’t room for roll-away beds in any of the rooms so this took away from the comfort of the stay. Otherwise, very nice.

Not a five minute walk from the train station...more like 15-20.

Unhappy Stay

Zurich Marriott was recently renovated and hence, the room was in very good condition and decor was chic. Breakfast was a chaos for two consecutive mornings due to insufficient staff. Breakfast buffet variety and quantity were limited. Pastries were not fresh. Over-dued mini pots of peach jam were offered on the buffet table. As the hotel is situated next to the ambulance station, we were woken up by the siren several times in the two consecutive nights of our stay and hence, no quality sleep.....not happy about it.
