Showboat
We love the Showboat it is our favorite hotel to stay at. The House of Blues restaurant is fantastic and since it is the Mardi Gras casino, there is always a party going on day or night!

Not exactly top-notch, but okay for the price
Overall, the Showboat was well maintained and room was in good shape. However, there was a intermittent musky odor in the room that I thought emanated from the couch, but then determined that it was actually coming from the vent above the couch. The sink and counter was suprisingly small. Luckily there were shelves next to the sink where I could put some of my toiletries and avoid crowding the sink. Walls and ceilings appear to be awfully thin -- I was startled several times by the occupants above me as they dropped the toilet seat and flushed the toilet, and I could clearly hear my next door neighbors watching tv, as well as people moving through the hallway. Room service was slightly flaky. I was placed on hold for ten minutes as they were checking on the availaibilty of a food item that was prominently advertised in the room (Fat Tuesday Menu Special). And there was a number of times that I encountered a busy signal and several attempts dialing Room Service before finally reaching a Room Service rep. And there was no room safe available. This left me with an uneasy feeling any time I left the room (as I had a laptop) and I had to make sure I had all my cash on me. Other the above issues, it was a comfortable and pleasant stay. The price is certainly right, and the location isnt too bad. I would most likely plan another stay at the Showboat before rendering a final verdict.
