efficient but impersonal

The hotel was in a fantastic location close to railway , shopping, restaurants and bars . It’s a large impersonal hotel where the staff are polite and helpful but it feels more efficient than friendly. The rooms are a good size and are clean and comfortable .We did however book a city view room and from the moment the porter left the room we no longer had a city view . Apparently in winter the windows fog up and that is how they remained with the staff saying nothing could be done . So there is no point in paying for a city view in winter. While the rate was reasonable we did have to pay a daily charge for internet and also to use the gym .The gym I thought was extremely expensive for not great equipment and no real help from staff .These two factors made me feel the hotel was on the mean side .However I would stay there again because of the location .

The Best Hotel in Shibuya area

Cerulean Tower Tokyo Hotel is one of the best hotel we stayed in our life. The quality of the hotel service in terms of the room, viwe, location and staff attendace quality level are excelletnt. Only item we did not like is the quality level of the waiting chairs at the lobby area. The eveniront of the loby is great but the waiting chairs seems to be cheap looking and unconfortable. I believe they set up those for the temporary event for the end of the year, busy time. Except those chairs, this is the one of the best hotel we stayed and we will use this hotel for the next travel to Tokyo. Thank you very much

WOW

This is a beautiful hotel with incredible views from almost every room. We have stayed here on several occasions and love the Shibuya/Daikanyama area and love this hotel. Easy walk to JR train. Lots to see and do in this area, or use it as a base to explore Japan. 5 star accommodation, really. And Expedia pricing is best rate you will get here. Top quality service and accommodation. Dont eat in the hotel tho, (too expensive) as you are so close to many little restaurants, be adventurous and take a walk. If you cant read the menu, you can always either order one of the daily set menus (A or B) which are always a treat, or point to the plastic food display in the front window that you want. Concierge is extremely helpful, just be specific in your request. Excellent linens and room comfort. Will stay here again and again!!

It couldn’t be better

Everything was excellent, the service, the room, the location, very close to the subway, many nice restaurant and stores. But there is only one thing that I don’t recommend at all, the restaurant in top of the hotel, the food was pricy, not good at all and the service terrible, the only thing good is the view. I would stay there next time for sure.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

You don’t have to spend a lot of money to eat well, most of the restaurant on the street are very good, if you like Japonese food, you are in haven. Just choose one and enjoy!

Cerulean great place to stay in Tokyo

This was my first time to Tokyo, but the Cerulean was in a great location, 5 minute walk to the amazing Shibuya crossing, very nice room (small, but awesome shower and fancy toilet). All staff were very helpful and nice. Really enjoyed staying here... room felt updated and modern. We stayed in the Tower Room floors (34th) which was great, free internet connection, morning paper under door, and breakfast in the Executive Salon on 35th floor... awesome views from the room and during breakfast. Everyone was very nice... will stay here again!

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Eating at the hotel is very expensive, go to the 7/11 in the building and buy your single brew coffees, 1/5th the price of the one in room, and get your sodas and munchies there as well. If you can afford it, upgrade to Tower Rooms, you get breakfast in the 35th floor salon which is awersome, great views while you have your coffee, bacon, and toast while planning your day. Worth the upgrade.

Very good, but not cheap

Stayed 3 nights on one of the higher floors with breakfast included. Very nice views of the city. The room was nicely appointed with a very comfortable bed and pillow, complimentary water bottle each day, and excellent shower/bath tub combo. Usual levels of Japanese service everywhere, disposable slippers, etc. The concierge(s) were excellent and fluent English-speakers as were the front desk personnel. The room was plenty large, even by American standards, but this may have been because we paid for the larger room with breakfast. Ethernet was also complimentary on this floor, but no WiFi in the room (when you first connect it sounds like you’ll be charged but it didn’t show up on the bill later). Highly recommend the slightly more expensive rooms with the breakfast plan, which is at the business lounge and consisted of both Western style and Japanese food. This was plenty hearty despite the description sounding like just continental breakfast. This plan also came with free evening drinks at the same lounge, where we enjoyed beer/wine/cocktails and snacks before heading out for dinner. The location is excellent, a short walk from the Shibuya subway/train station and with many restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk away, several that were excellent including hotel-recommended tempura house and small Italian place teeming with twenty-somethings.

Traveler's tip

From Narita to hotel: take the airport limousine bus, which is reasonable in price, doesn’t require a reservation, does take some time (about 1.5-2 hours) -this will also take you back to the airport-and drops off/picks up right at the hotel. The other choice is taking the JR train, which is slightly more expensive, faster, and drops you off at the train station. I would do this if you had only small bags as the walk is slightly uphill on busy sidewalk or up stairs on the pedestrian overpasses.

Formal, Attractive, Well located, but Sterile Hotel

Nicely located in popular Shibuya; No wi-fi. Daily fee for using your own computer with the cable connection. Very nicely appointed and clean rooms. High daily fee for indoor pool and workout facilities. Very tiny lobby (just several chairs lined up) in front of reception desk. Expensive restaurants (including one hooked onto tiny lobby) but there are a multitude of great restaurants outside the hotel within walking distance. There is a 7-11 with sandwiches, sodas and an ATM machine on second floor (just outside) of hotel. The quality of the room, greatly reduced Expedia price, the 7-11 ATM machine and the superb location made this hotel a good selection.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Make sure you reserve for all the days you need on Expedia before your trip if possible. The hotel will not give you the same deal if you want to extend your visit. In fact the price they quoted us was almost three times what we paid through Expedia. We found it hard to use the Expedia site in Japan because we kept getting the site in Japanese.

SUPERB Hotel!

I have stayed in this hotel twice and it will always be my first choice in Tokyo. The location is ideal, the rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean, the bathrooms are huge, the service is wonderful, and the hotel food is fantastic. I honestly can’t say enough about this hotel. What we find especially convenient is the 7-11 (which are wonderful in Japan!!) is right next door and open 24 hours so when you’re up early dealing with jet-lag, you can get something decent to eat and drink for cheap right next to the hotel. Also love that there is a bus directly to and from the airport to the Cerulean. Wonderful hotel in EVERY way!

Traveler's tip on shopping

Loft, Tokyu Hand and Parco are all MUSTS. Great shopping and even better people watching.

Excellent location

The Cerulean is an excellent hotel. Located in Shibuya near (3 minute walk) big metro station; very convenient. The hotel restaurants are expensive; as in all great hotels, but there are plenty of options near by.

Traveler's tip on dining

Dinning options at walking distance. Tokyu Departmente store (3 minute walk) has dinning options in the top floor and a food hall in the basement.

Superb Service

This is an excellent hotel to stay at if you are accustomed to top-notch service. The concierge is extremely helpful, as well as the front desk & porter services. We ate at the Caramelo restaurant in the lobby (9 of us) and the maitre’d & wait staff couldn’t have been nicer. Of course, this being Tokyo, the prices all round reflect the high level of service. Limo bus to Narita airport was v. convenient and takes about 1.5 hrs. Fitness room could be better though.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Walking around Shibuya is always an interesting experience, esp. if you enjoy people-watching. Lots to eat, plenty of good food at reasonable prices.

A very good experience; but, with or without breakfast?

When we checked in (after 6pm), the hotel had upgraded our double bed to king size. Thanks! When we learned the room didn’t come with breakfast, and showed a print out of the Expedia site listing the rate with breakfast, the hotel honored it. Thanks again. We’ve always had good experiences at Cerulean Tower Tokyu Hotel.

Excellent stay in Shibuya

The Cerulean hotel is one of my favorites around the world. Very convenient to the subway (less than 5 min. walk) and the famous Shibuya cross-walk. Also near shopping and restaurants alike. The hotel has clean, beautiful, spacious rooms. The staff is friendly, helpful and accommodating. I highly recommend this hotel to business and leisure travelers alike.

Very happy with this hotel choice

We stayed at this hotel solely based on the price available on the internet, the neighborhood, and the reviews. And if anything, it was better than we expected. Our rooms were "upgraded" to "tower rooms" which were very nice, and being on the 34th floor, the view was incredible. Neat shower/bath and comfy bed were a welcome relief from traveling. The Shibuya train station was a very short walk away, and the neighborhood featured an enormous number of restaurants and shops. Our stay was brief but it seems like a great, central location from which to explore Tokyo.

will be back

Staff was very helpful in assisting us with our questions -- directions, airport shuttle reservations, etc. Hotel location is centrally located in Shibuya, and you can easily access the rest of Tokyo from the JR station across the street. There is a 7-11 inside the hotel which we didn’t go; instead, we patronized the Lawson convenience store next to the hotel. You can stock up on water and snacks there. Great little restaurants in the back streets. All in all, we intend to return again!

1st Time in Tokyo - Hotel was Fantastic

Room was bigger than expected and bathroom was out of this world good and clean. Shower was particular good - strong and very hot. Concierge was extremely helpful. Provided detailed instructions for subway use. Great restaurant and tour recommendations. And everything done with a smile!
