Convenient location and very helpful staff
The rooms are the ones "up the hill" from the beach. No big deal walking down the hill. The staff is very helpful and always have smiles. Back to the hotel... nothing very fancy but the rooms are clean there are stoves, coffe maker, microwave utensils and pots and pans but nothing fancy. Sort of seventies era but once again, very clean. I reccommend the village if you are looking for a bargain vacation that is clean and convenient. The beach is also very decent. It was a bummer having to pay for the lounge chairs though. seven dollars a day for as long as you are using them (but then again, you could just place your towel on the sand...I suggest that you rent a car to get around although everything is not far but cab fare could add up. Definitely take a day trip or two to St. Johns on a ferry. Three dollar port fee (be careful the lady who works there tends to rib you off if you give her a high bill, count your change before you leave the windo (I was ripped off for ten dollars!) You can even take your car if you like. Check out Chanteel Beach on St. Johns (15 mi ferry ride, not sure if I spelled the name of the beach correctly). It is beautiful and very calm. The bays on the other side of St. Johns are just that, beautiful bays but no beach, dont waste your time. Back in Red Hook, there is a local market. The market also has better quality meats and produce than the large grocery stores in the opposite direction of Villages (about four miles away).
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
GOlf enthusiast should definitely go to Mahogany Run (about 5.5 miles away from Villages). It is a bit pricey with a cart ($125.00) but the golf course is very well maintained and it is regulation length. The devils Triangle, hole 13, 14, 15, are stunning. Take your clubs with you it is well worth it! Lastly, your cell phone should work fine and there are no roaming charges because you are officially still in the USA! Enjoy.

Clean, Inexpensive
We had a late night flight into St. Thomas, and missed the last ferry over to Tortola. We easily got to Sapphire Bay Resort, which is quite close to the ferry we were taking the next morning. Our studio apartment was very clean and neat, and had all the amenities we needed. The chef/owner of the restaurant, which was 1 minute from our door, was officially closed...however, he opened the kitchen and made us a delicious dinner. I thank the city of Boston for sending their son down to St. Thomas!

Satisfactory stay
At first, hotel couldnt find our reservation. They werent a very friendly lot. Didnt give us any info about their services. We had to ask everything if we wanted answers. We werent allowed to have any of their breakfast because we werent on their list. The taxi drivers had more info then they did. The grounds were well kept and the beach was beautiful. The room was more than we expected.
Dont rent a vehicle unless you are familiar with St Thomas. Taxi service is the way to go. Even in the off season, things are expensive.
