Good hotel for the cost
The Best Western Plantation Hale Condominium Resort is an older resort, you can tell by the decor. The rooms are big, two nice big flat screen televisions, fairly comfortable furniture. Aside from the the bed, there were valleys in the mattress that you rolled into during your sleep, maybe not really that bad. We ended up sleeping diagonally and that was comfortable since it was a big bed. That was my only complaint on the room. Since the hotel is one of the cheapest in the area, it was well worth the price we paid. They have three pools with a small jacuzzi, we never saw anyone in the pool. We did go into the pool that was near our room and it was nice, jacuzzi was great. For the price we paid I have no complaints, If you want to pay $50-100 more a night for a room you can go to a nicer resort, but how much time do you plan on spending in your room? If I go back to Kauai I would stay here again
If you have your own GPS, bring it! They charge $11.95 a day to rent a GPS and it wasn’t even a great one

Peaceful Place to Stay
I’ve been going to Plantation Hale since I was a kid. It’s awesome. The rooms are great, the grounds are beautiful, it’s great to have that beautiful open area in between the rooms and the beach, to go running or walking through. Staff are very friendly. I love it.
Traveler's tip on dining
Take the highway a short distance north to Kapaa and have a Caramel Mac at Java Kai, a wonderful local coffee place. They have some awesome food there too. Right next door is a kind of hole-in-the-wall eatery, Mermaids, that serves some amazing wraps and sandwiches.
