If you’re looking for something cheap...
If you’re looking for something cheap this place will do. The neighbourhood isnt great though and it is a fair distance away from the centre of San Diego. We had a car which we would drive into the centre of town (which is expensive / difficult to find spaces for evenings) or you can get a cab there which is just over $10 each way. The rooms in themselves are clean and comfortable but i would only use this place for its price. A central location in the gaslamp district or just outside is a lot more practical. Being our first time there we didnt know where all the action was so hopefully this will help others.
If you go out in the evening and you are from outside the US, you will need to take your passport to get in some bars/clubs as they dont accept driving licences (as they say they do not see enough to tell if forgeries etc) This is the only place i’ve travelled to on the west coast that asks this.

A bad location
A middle-low quality hotel in a location far from downtown and not very welcoming
