Sofitel Athens Airport

Perfect airport location

My husband and I chose to stay at Hotel Sofitel because of its convenient location to the airport. You walk across the street from the airport, to the hotel. Staff was very good-responsive and helpful. The room was beautiful-two double beds together in the European style, with a beautiful headboard. The spacious shower was amazing, with a large head in the ceiling as well as separate handheld nozzles. The room was not overly clean-dust on the baseboards, and the carpet was worn and the room surfaces had only a cursery wipe. The fitness area was small-only a couple of cardio machines, and no sanitizers to clean the equipment between users. The steam room was great and the small pool was nice. There were several restaurants to chose from but they were very, very expensive and the only alternative was to eat across at the airport (which we did!). This is a very pricey hotel, but the convenience was wonderful, and the staff expediated the boarding pass procedure, which allowed us to sleep an extra hour-much appreciated for the 6am flight!

Off season was wonderful-second week of October. Great weather and no crowds. Do not rush to see the Acropolis first thing, like most travel books say to do. All the other tourists do that, and then no one is there in the afternoon off-season.

Very convenient if you have an early flight.

The hotel was very comfortable and quiet considering we were so close to the airport. It was a very short walk to check in to our flight. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Wonderful Retreat

Prior to flying home from a wonderful vacation in Greece, we stayed at the Sofitel Athens Airport. We were able to arrive at the airport for our morning flight fresh and rested without any of the hassels associated with getting to the airport. I would definitely recommend this for "a final night in Greece."

Close to Airport

Hotel met all the expected standards of a medium/high-end hotel in Europe. Best of all was proximity to Athens airport. Relaxing with the confort of knowldge that I was only 100 m from the check-in counter and no early AM taxi ride was worth it.

Sofitel, Athens Greece

This hotel is located at the Athens airport and that is the only reason one might stay there. There are no other hotels near by. It is over priced and not very nice.

Convenient but expensive

Can’t beat the convenience of staying at a hotel which is only a short walk to the terminal. Among airport hotels, the Sofitel was much above average in terms of quality and comfort. However, the convenience comes at a high price.

Excellent choice for airport stay

Great location right across the road from the terminal. Spacious room with all comforts (we were upgraded to Exec Floor). Luxury bathroom - the best of all hotels we staid at on the trip (they were all the same star rating). Restaurants onsite are so-so (both food and service) and very overpriced - would suggest eating somewhere else if possible.

Convenience

Hotel is so easy to get to from the airport, just crossing the street. The hotel was nice, room was clean and very quiet & dark. Airport runways are far from the hotel and I never heard any plane noise. Was able to make the room completely dark, so easy to sleep even when you’re off-time.

Other travelers’ tips about breakfast being expensive are correct. I skipped it at the hotel.

Nice retreat

This money was worth the price to have a quiet, excellent night sleep before flying home to US. The up-scale bathroom was fabulous and the down-filled mattress, blanket and pillows were like heaven. Being a few steps from check-in the next morning, it was worth the $ to have our last night in Athens be stress-free.

A bit overpriced, but worth it if you have early flight out in morning

Lovely hotel, rooms very clean and comfortable, service very good....a little pricey, and i recommend it only for very short stays , as it is too far from downtown athens..literally a 1 minute walk from main terminal of airport, so excellent if you have an early morning flight..the best coffee and continental breakfast ive had in a hotel, but, that too is overpriced a little..18 euros...

Convenient for early or late flights

After a very long flight from Los Angeles (via Paris) with a late-night arrival, it was a relief to be able to walk just a few steps outside the airport terminal to the hotel. Rooms are surprisingly quiet, especially with the airport runway so nearby. While I wouldn’t stay here for more than 1 night (if you’re staying longer in Athens, you certainly should be in the center), it’s great for recovery from jet-lag.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

The metro leaves the airport every 30 minutes for central Athens. It costs much less than a cab and avoids all the crazy traffic.

this Hotel is exyremely confortable and has excellent service. The airport is a three minute walk away!!!!

Perfect for an Early Escape

I selected this hotel because of proximity to the Athens airport. We had a very early morning flight. The room was large and very comfortable. There was a maintenance problem with the AC, but it was resolved to my satisfaction. The bath was fabulous! The bed was comfy, except that it used a down comforter instead of bedsheets and blankets, which I found to be too warm. Price was comparable to what I was paying in town. The terminal was right across the street.

RIght there!

I picked the hotel because I had an early morning flight from the Athens Airport. This hotel is super convenient. It is right across the street from the arrivals hall. I walked off my flight from morthern Greece and was almost at the doorstep of the hotel. The next morning at 5 am they suggested I go across the street, check in for my flight, and then return for breakfast - they start serving at 4 am. Hotel was elegant, quiet, and very comfortable. Large bed, large room, and enormous bathroom! Will stay there again if I need an early morning flight

Very convenient

We checked in the night before an early flight the following morning. The hallways are a little dingy, but the room was comfortable. The hotel is literally a 60 second walk to the airport and we didn’t hear any plane noise in our room or lobby!

The restaurant (not the bar) in the lobby was excellent with friendly and efficient service. The one on the top floor was very expensive, especially for an airport hotel.

Excellent conditions!

Great rooms, best location, wonderful people. A little bit expensive, but very convenient location close to the airport. On the downside: internet service very expensive.

It is a beautiful hotel - unfortunately I use it only when travelling and do not get to spend as much time there as I would like to.

Good hotel with poor service.

This hotel has a lot to offer, its location, its room, etc. It is right across from the airport terminal, and the rooms were recently refurbished. What leaves a lot to be desired is the service. I purchased an internet card that was meant to provide me internet access in the lobby. First, the adjustments needed on one’s computer before one can use the card was mind-goggling. After struggling with it for half an hour, my computer-savvy friend and I could not get the connection to work. I then approached the manager and asked for refund. He flat out refused. He said it is my computer’s problem, not his. After arguing with him for another half an hour, he still refused to relent. So I spent ten euros on an internet access card I cannot use. On the next day, when I checked out from the hotel, I want to leave my luggage at the hotel for one night--I was going to Mykonos--I was refused. The hotel does not let its guests leave luggage there for more than the same day. This is after I paid quite a lot of money for one night’s stay. I ended up having to spend more than 30 euros to leave my luggage at the airport. In short, a hotel with good physical facilities but extremely poor service. I would not stay there if I had a choice.

Convenience

Besides impeccable rooms and service, this hotel is the most convenient I have ever experienced with relation to airport access. I mean, you literally only have to walk across the street to get to departures and arrivals.

they have a monopoly

the hotel itself was very good, very convenient but is one of the few that does not have free wi-fi. restaurant prices are extreamly high. we read a review about it that suggested we eat across the street in the airport. the restaurant there was excellent with moderate prices.

Very convenient for an early flight & excellent concierge

This hotel is definitly geared to the traveler. Very convenient for an early am flight. The concierge helped to confirm flight and even printed our boarding pass.

A good airport hotel

This is so conveniently located...litereally a 2 minute walk across the street. If you have a wait between flights it’s also a great place to grab lunch, relax, or a drink!

Short layover in Athens

Sofitel Athens Airport is pretty pricey, but it was the only viable option for a flight arriving late evening and another departing early morning. Extremely comfortable beds, great showers, and many amenities.

Excellent for an Airport Hotel

The Sofitel is very much an airport hotel (it is directly across from one of the terminals at Athens Airport), so it is not a good place to stay if one’s goal is to see Athens. However, it is a fine hotel, if you must spend the night in Athens, and have an early flight the next day.
