Great location, friendly staff, super beach & decent food.
We stayed at Manly Pacific in late January and would stay there again. We chose a non-view room and others in our group had views of Manly Beach. The rooms are very different because the view rooms were recently remodeled. Our AC did not work the first night and we found out later that there are controls between the beds that only the maintenance people seemed to understand. After that, it was great. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The food in the hotel dinning room was OK at best. But, there are great restaurants everywhere and the beach location was very nice. Manly Beach is great, but it also turns into "the place" to go for young people on weekends. We had not problems, but Friday night at Manly is intense. We would stay there again and would stay at Manly if we every go back to Sydney. We stayed at Manly Pacific on the front end of a 2 week cruise that started in Sydney and ended in Auckland, New Zealand. Our group (Americans and Canadians) wanted to see Sydney before the cruise started, so we picked this hotel and stayed 3 nights. The only disappointment we had was the charges for Internet service in the rooms. Maybe Im spoiled by the free wireless Internet offered in the US by most hotels. Anyway, they charge for Internet access.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
There is a passenger ferry between Manly Beach and downtown Sydney. It is cheap and easy to use. The ferry is a 10 minute walk from the Manly Pacific hotel to the ferry. We got a van to take us to the hotel from the airport, but after that we used the ferry to go into the City.
