Not very impressed

The hotel is beautiful. Pool was way too cold to enjoy. I asked for a late check out time so we could enjoy the park on the last day, and was told no. However they would hold our bags and keep the car in valet. Wow, thanks for going out of your way! I was also told by someone when we came home that they have pool food service. I knew nothing about it. There was no way of knowing it when your at the pool. There were no signs or waiters, so how are you supposed to know about it.

Great Hotel

According to my wife anytime we’re going to Disneyland we’re coming back and staying at this hotel. Make sure to go on a day when you can take advantage of early admission to the parks.

Location, Location, Location!

If you have young children this is the place to stay. The location is perfect to run back to your room for a quick nap or if you have forgotten anything. As all parents know, this is very important. When we visit Disneyland or California Adventure we always stay here.

Best place to stay in Anaheim

Best place to stay in Anaheim. The room was so clean and beautiful. I can’t say enough about how great this hotel is. Very helpful and made us feel important though we were just one in a million visiting the place. Felt like we were at a lodge in the mountains but had easy access to Disney park.

Best hotel for families with small kids to visit the theme parks

It is a pleasant hotel to stay. It has its own entrance to the Adventure Land and a short walk to Disneyland. Since it is so convenient, I do not need to carry along a lot of stuff for kids. It is very relaxing to visit the parks this way. Restaurants in the hotels are quite good. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet with the characters in the Storyteller Cafe. Will definitely consider to stay here again next time visiting the parks if the price is right. The hotel is little old, but upkeep is OK. Although I think they could use some renovations especially the bathroom. I do have one thing to complaint about is the bathroom hot water. The water temperature control is bad which can be frustrating trying to take showers for the little ones.

Didn’t want to leave

Staying at Grand Calfornia Hotel was a true Disney experience, a dream. Not just the pleasant surrondings and the rustic atmosphere, but the staff were very kind and accommodating. The convience of staying in the park was a luxury in itself. This is a beautiful hotel, but one that the average person doesn’t get to experience due to the cost. My group was only able to go there because of Expedia.

Can’t wait to go back!

This is the second time we have stayed here. I love this resort and the easy access to the park. It is great if you have kids because you can take a break in the middle of the day and just hang out by the pool and relax if you want. The first time I stayed I paid for a room with the view, but because you are never in the room it was a waste of money. This time I just did the standard view and it was just as nice overlooking a courtyard. Once you stay here you will never want to stay anywhere else!

Best place to stay for Disneyland

This is a large hotel, with ~1000 rooms. Given the amount of things they have to provide hospitality for hundreds of families with kids, it is impressive. The location is very close (there’s not another real hotel that is closer). If you want the Four Seasons, you will not be satisfied, but this is as good as it gets for Disneyland, and it is acceptable.

Awesome Experience

This hotel was outstanding. The service was fantastic. My kids loved every part of our stay here. The staff was just amazing. We will definately look forward to visiting again and staying at the Disney’s Grand Californian!!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

If you don’t have a car, use grayline to book your theme park tickets. The prices are about the same at the gate, but grayline prices include the bus ride. You also don’t have to wait in line at the parks because the bus driver takes you right in. Grayline was outstanding and I would use them again.

Feels like Home

Place is clean, comfortable. View is great. Next to Disney, great convenience. My 2 daughters (2 and 5 yr old)needs afternoon nap and going in/out of Disney is very convenient. Restaurants are great. Like the gym. Weather a bit cold for me, so no chance to try out the pool. It is pricier but worth the money. I will definitely stay in Grand Califonia if I visit Disney again

Not worth the money

The hotel is extremely expensive, and I expected better service from the employees. We purchased Disneyland tickets from the front desk, were given info on the park stating hours were 8AM to midnight - never once mentioned that for the day we were going the hours were 10 to 8. Never told us that one section required an "early visit" pass before 11, and it was too late to get it after we arrived (finally) at the park.

Loved It!

The Grand Californian Hotel in Disneyland is wonderful. My family and I love staying in this hotel for the overall conditions and the convenient location to the parks. From the time you step foot into this fine establishment, you feel so good. I have stayed at this hotel 4 times now, and if given the choice I would choose to stay no where else. I recommend that everyone, at least once, experience this fine establishment.

We will definitely stay here again

Even though the grounds were under construction, the hotel was clean and very accomodating. We can’t wait to go back. We liked the closeness of Downtown Disney & the special entrance to California Adventure. We ate at the Storyteller’s Cafe twice for breakfast. Very good & reasonably priced.

Hotel is so comfortable that we spent more time here than the park

We have very comfortable room even though it’s a little aged. It’s big enough and the balcony look down to the pools. The pools are life saver, we spent a few afternoon there and we all loved it. My son is on GFCF diet, the hotel staff provided a list of all restaurants that offers GFCF foods, which is extraordinary. We can order GFCF pancake and pasta from the hotel room. it’s connected to all the shops of Disney downtown so it’s very convenient to shop. Monorail is within 5 mins walk, which makes it super easy to go back and forth. We think it was a very smart choice for us to stay there with a 4 years old with special needs.

Stay at the hotel, go to the park in the morning when it’s less crowded. Then go to the pool or beach (Huntington beach is 20 mins drive) in the afternoon. If you still have energy, go back to the park in the evening.

Overrated

I will start with the one good thing about staying at the California Grand very close access to California Adventure. Yep that’s it. The hotel is over priced and overrated. I have stayed at other hotels in the area which I felt you get what you pay for. I will never stay there again. I will save my money.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Don’t stay at the Grand

Very convenient and beautiful hotel

Very convenient and beautiful hotel, walking distance to both parks. Overall great palce but Restaurants on the first floor acted as if they never had seen people who do not eat pork products. That was very troubling to seen Any food with bacon or had been difficult to substitute with out meat.

Stay at Disney

The "magic morning" where you can access the park 1 hour before opening is worth pauying extra for an on property hotel!

Enjoyed the stay, but get ready to pay for the luxury!

Very nice hotel. You could walk right out of the hotel and straight into downtown disney. You can valet for a fee per day, but you will need to tip as well. If you don’t want to valet, you can park across the street and walk. Our room was not ready when we arrived, but they will hold your things, while you enjoy the parks. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

Eat at Denny’s down the road for breakfast if you don’t want to pay alot of money everyday.

Ideal location

The only issue we had was that the room we requested was not available. We had 3 adults and 2 kids in our room and they did not have a room with a pull-out available. One of the kids had to sleep in a sleeping bag on the floor which was not comfortable causing him to wake up several times in the night.
