Care-Free Fun!

I loved every second of this vacation. People were nice all around the resort, everything was clean, service was great, and bartenders were very entertaining and were great at remembering faces and drinks - Daily activities, shows, and spa promotions. Food was great, and plenty - full five course meals that left you in a food coma. The longest we ever had to wait for a table was twenty mins or so, but it didn’t matter because there’s a bar right in the lobby with a nice outside club/lounge feel that made time pass quickly and it really easy to meet people. This was our first time to Punta Cana, and I would be afraid to try another resort when we come back because of how great of a time we had here. I don’t think it would compare! Stop by the pool for a free intro to scuba - the instructors are a blast :)

Make sure to walk down to the beach when it gets dark out. The view changes so much in the moonlight, and the steady breeze makes the moment sureal.

Loved it!

This was our best vacation yet. My husband and I paid a little extra for the Preferred Club, and it was completely worth it. Lots of extra perks, like having a better room, extra dining options, extra alcohol options, free internet use, etc. The beach was absolutely amazing, and the weather was perfect. The first couple of days there was quite a bit of seaweed in the water, but the last few days we were there the tide must have changed because it was crystal clear. We had a photo session with the resort’s photographers. Our pictures are wonderful and we are trying to figure out which one to include in this year’s Christmas card. Definitely worth it. The room was really nice. Sometimes services took awhile, but I think that’s just because in the Dominican Republic they aren’t as fast paced as we are in the US. Our only real complaint about the room was that our mini-fridge wasn’t very cold, and that wasn’t a very big deal. This was a wonderful place to relax. Just make sure to reapply the sunscreen because we sure did get burned! People scared us about going to the Dominican Republic, but we felt 100% safe the entire time. There were even police regularly patrolling the beach.

I know we risked a Hurricane going in late October, and thank goodness there wasn’t one, but the weather was perfect the entire time we were there. I spoke to someone who lived there, and she says in the summer it is very hot. While we were there it was 87 degrees every day. Perfect. Just keep this in mind if you decide to go in the summer.

Paradise

Dreams-Palm Beach was perfect for my boyfriend and me. The staff went out of their way to make sure our stay was nothing short of amazing. I would return here in a second. the buffets were ok, the restaurants were great.

Relaxing in Punta Cana

Dreams Palm Beach was a delightful experience. We went to do nothing & enjoyed every minute. The place was beautiful & well kept. The food in all of the restaurants was very good, much better that we had had in previous all-inclusive. The staff was always extremely friendly and very helpful. They wanted to make you happy. The shows were very entertaining & fun. Although not necessary, take lots $1 bills, the people make you want to tip them because they are so accomodating. We did not take advantage of any of the trips offered. They patroled the beach so there was no problem with vendors. There is so seaweed in the water, but not bad unless there has been a storm. Highly recommend.

Not impressed.

The rooms were ok. The bathroom had a shower without any door or curtain, so everytime you took a shower there was water all over the floor. The restaurants at this hotel were very slow and unaccomodating to people with children.

Great resort

No stress in reserve all dining restaurants. The French is the best and the Grill is good too. If you could afford, pay the preferred club, it’s worth.

If you need to withdraw, don’t go at front desk cashier. The rate to exchange currency is too expensive !!!.

It was nice

In general the hotel was nice and staff are very good.

Getting there was complicated, always arrange transportation before you leave, taxi are very expensive and are not reliable. We end up going to the wrong hotel and pay a lot just to get to the right place.

Honeymoon in paradise

My husband and I just had our honeymoon there, and when we arrived the room we reserved wasn’t available, but we got upgraded to a suite without even asking. We loved it and the room was beautiful! The staff was also very friendly and helpful. The food wasn’t bad. We decided to eat at the World Cafe most of the time which was a buffet, because the restaurants were not that great. One evening we we wanted to try the Japanese restaurant, and were seated with other young people at the grill where the chef would toss food into people’s mouths! This kind of thing isn’t for everyone and my husband and I felt uncomfortable. But if you’re looking for fun and let your hair down, this will definitely appeal to you. The beach was beautiful. Only thing is when we were there in October the water was full of twigs and felt dirty, so we prefered the pool.

Fabulous Time!

We were there Oct 6 for 10 wonderful, relaxing days. Everything went just great. The food was very good. The restaurants were awesome, Our favorite was the Japanese (hi Francisco!) and the Seaside Grill! The staff were outstanding! Always making sure we were taken care of. The entertainment staff work to make sure you have an enjoyable time. Will definately return.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

The staff work very hard to make sure your stay is enjoyable. They appreicate tips although there is no expectation from them. Make sure you bring singles and also lots of suntan oil and sunblock (in the shop suntain oil is about 20 bucks!) I got sun poison out there.

Outstanding visit and resort

We were at the resort from Sept 26 to Oct 3. Check In was very quick and easy, the staff greeted us and provided us drinks. Our room was very nice and clean, the AC worked great and had no issues with the room at all. The resort was very clean and they obviously take pride in upkeep of the grounds as they were immaculate. The world cafe ( buffet ) was good and the individual restaurants were very good especially the Japanese. Overall we had no issues during our stay, everyone was very friendly and the service was very good.

Dreamy vacation

The resort was nice. We went to relax for our birthdays and that’s exactly what this resort offers - all day, every day. You can do as much or as little as you want. We chose this resort for the premium drinks and the Preferred Club for the free Wi-fi. They only served "premium" at the lobby bar and Preferred Lounge and it consisted of Jack, Jim, Absolut, Johnny, Baileys, etc. The pool was excellent and the stretch of beach is plentiful. There is a Hard Rock Cafe, Tony Roma’s and a fashion mall, but it’s $46 round trip taxi ride. Definitely not walking distance. You really can’t leave the resort b/c there isn’t anything nearby. The food is good; it’s probably not the fine dining you are used to at home but there are definitely a lot of options. We have traveled to Aruba, Cancun, and visited several ports via cruises. Punta Cana definitely has a lot of untouched land, white sand, tons of palm trees, and natural beauty. Take singles to tip the bartenders and wait staff, they do a fantastic job yet do not expect anything. However, they make about $1/hour, so a tip goes a long way. It is very humid and the rooms do seem a bit damp. Most of the resort is open air (except some restaurants) so pack accordingly. There are daily activities, themes, etc. We never had an issue finding a pool chair. We only had to wait for dinner once and it was at the asian hibatchi grill (there were 6 of us that night).

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

If you are looking for a place that only speaks English, offers only American food, and doesn’t offer any diversity or insight into another culture then you should travel to Florida or some other destination within the US and not Dreams Palm Beach in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. If you’re open minded and ready to experience another culture, then this is the spot for you.

Great hotel if you would like late night enterntaintment

We recently stayed at the hotel’s Royal Club section. It was great however the two things we had issues with were the noise at night and the cleanliness of the beach. Every evening there was a show of some sort until 10:30pm and the music was so loud that even in the room with the doors closed you cannot help but listen to it. We have a baby and that was a problem. We asked to be moved, talked to a few managers including Expedia/Club Caribe representative, everyone was very nice and friendly, however nothing could be done since the music can be heard everywhere the same. I wish we knew about this before we choose this hotel. Reading the description did not lead me to believe that this is a party place. It looked much more like the perfect place for total relaxation and unfortunately for us it was not. The beach was also crowded with chairs. It is far from deserted and tranquil-there are hotels on either side with no space between, so you are sitting next to each other. We did not appreciate the way the management handled our complaint about the noise (did nothing!). Could have shown some understanding and could have try to help accommodate us better or send us a bottle of wine in the room (It is all inclusive, I realize, but it would have still been a good gesture) which would have been appreciated. Since they did nothing it left us with the impression that they don’t care! I don’t think we will be going back any time soon.

Traveler's tip on dining

The French Restaurant was choice number one (no children allowed). Second was the Italian, even though the service was too slow there. The Chinese/ Japaneese was way too loud, kind of like the Benehana’s if you are into that, if not don’t bother. The World Buffet was OK, nothing spectacular, but fresh and plenty of choices

Great resort! Will definitely go back!

The resort was very clean and staff was super friendly and service oriented. Mostly couples and families at the resort so singles didn’t have too many people to meet. Beach is not as clean as we hoped but still very nice. Food was decent and mostly very tasty but humidity would get to the buffet food quickly. The disco was great and the activities were fun. Had a really great time drinking the mama juana shots!

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

No need to leave the resort at all if you can fun at a not so packed disco. No need to get the preferred upgrade because you are treated the same as the regular hotel goers!

We loved Dreams Palm Beach in Punta Cana; we’ll be going back.

The whole family had tons of fun at Dreams Palm Beach in Punta Cana. We already wish we were back there. There were many activities. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. We enjoyed the shows. The food and drinks were fine and abundant. Our kids couldn’t wait to get to the teen activities every evening. I really enjoyed the casino. We went snorkling, scuba diving, ATV riding, horseback riding and parasailing (these were at extra cost but very affordable). I wasn’t sure what to expect as the reviews seem so hot and cold. Some people love it; some people seem to hate it. We’re in the "love it" category. I could nitpick some items that were less than perfect (you need to stake a claim to a lounge chair by the pool first thing in the morning, you need to arrive early to the specialty restaurants, you’re not going to see a real filet mignon or New York strip) but, overall, it was still excellent. There is so much food, you are bound to find something you like. There is always something going on: volleyball, water polo, water volleyball, dance lessons, Spanish lessons, aerobics. The resort has some very personable (and nutty) guys who go around organizing these activities and just creating all kinds of fun. This is probably my biggest reason for wanting to go back to Dreams Palm Beach versus other resorts.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Even if you have never done it before, you can take a 1 hour course and actually go scuba diving immediately afterward. The cost is $105 and it all takes place at or very near the resort. We did the ATV ride and it was awesome. You have to take a 1 hour ride north of the resort to get there but the ride is interesting and the ATV driving is very, very cool. It goes through lush farms, up a ridge (where you can stop and view the country for 10-20 miles away) and through a small town.

Would definitely go back.

We had a great time. You can’t beat what you get for the price. Hotel staff were very accomodating and friendly. Had to wait for the a la carte resturants, but it was really nice to have so many choices of places to go for dinner. Food was great. Room was spacious and very clean.

Nice stay, not sure if I would go back

The resort was very nice, the staff was extremely nice and very happy to serve you!The first night we got there we had no hot water in our building, they did repair the damaged pipe but it took a few hours. The room was nice but everything felt wet and humid the entire time not exactly the most comfortable. If you want alcohol in your drink, ask for extra then you might taste it.Overall not a bad trip if you are looking to enjoy just a relaxing few days on the beach. I probably wouldn’t go back to Punta Cana, once was enough.

Traveler's tip on dining

The buffet food was not that great, make sure you (men) bring pants so that you can eat in the ala cart restaurants for dinner they are way better than the buffet!! My boyfriend forgot to pack pants and we were forced to buy a pair of $40 pretty much pajama pants (one size fits all) so that we could go to dinner. That is all the shops carried as far as "mens clothing" goes.

Patience is a Virtue

I actually had a really great time and definitley would go back. Jesus (bellman) and AKA: A-Rod (mini bar/room service) B really made the stay worth it. Now the Concierge could use a couple of overall the staff were wonderful.

Traveler's tip

If anyone wants a hut out on the beach remember you can’t reserve them, You have to get one on your own and the earlier the better.

An Awesome, Upscale and Friendly Experience

The Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana was fantastic. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food quality and availablity was great. The grounds were very well kept and clean. The nightly entertainment was good.

Traveler's tip

For those who really care...the alcohol is top shelf. The other guess where nice as well. I would do this again. I was afraid to go because it was August 17-23 and I was afraid of the possibilities of a hurricane, but the weather was great.

Great Caribbean Experience

The Dreams, Punta Cana, was a wonderful experience from check-in to check-out. We have visited over twenty islands in the Caribbean, but we have rarely experienced the quality of service that we received in the Dominican Republic. The grounds are immaculate, the room was very nice, but the most outstanding characteristic is the friendly and constant service provided by the employees. There is enough entertainment provided with outdoor music and activites that there is no need to leave the grounds. We plan to return.

Traveler's tip on shopping

The hotel keeps vendors off their grounds (a policy we really appreciated), but allows some to set up a couple of times a week for "local" shopping. It provides an opportunity to support the local economy without having to constantly avoid the beach vendors.
