General Information
What to expect: Offering day and night activities, a casino, an air-conditioned children's club, and a spacious beach, this resort attracts travelers from North America and Europe.
Amenity highlights: Large enough to hold up to 18 guests, a cool-water spa tub rises on a terrace above the main pool complex. The complex includes a large activities pool with a swim-up bar, and three smaller pools, including one for children. Isolated away from main-pool activities, a large, freeform "relaxation pool" offers the chance for tranquil sunbathing and shade under thatched-roof palapas. |

Open to blue sky, green grounds, and tropically soft air, this Mediterranean-style Puerto Plata resort contains 501 rooms in five white buildings three stories high, with red-tile roofs (no elevators). Activities include a supervised children's club and nightly shows in an open-air theater. The resort purifies its water.

This hotel offers a range of water and land sports, from snorkeling, kayaking, and windsurfing, to tennis, volleyball, and archery. Up to one hour of horseback riding per guest per week is offered and golfers can practice on a putting green.
For the full 18 holes, golfers need go only about 100 meters (109 yards) to the Playa Dorada Golf Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. Golf incurs surcharges for greens fees and all equipment rental.
