Great hotel, great location.

We stayed in the old building in the two bedroom suite. It was a beautiful room and the location is wonderful. The rooms were comfortable, well furnished and quiet. Highly reccomend it for a stay as you step out right into the heart of everything.

Would return to this ideally located Hotel with all required amenities. Lovely restaurant.

We booked 2 rooms as my parents were coming with us. Both rooms were lovely but my parents had the addedd extra of a kitchinette whcih was good. The evening meal we had in the hotel was lovely. Ideally located in the heart of Christchurch and a perfect base to explore the surrounding areas from. The rooms were also good value.

Spring is lovel as very green. Must see as above, Alps and Akoroa.

Very large rooms in central location

We upgraded to a suite which was very spacious and great for our two kids. It comes with a kitchen but I have to say that that was a little ’used’ and the insinkerator was blocked. Not a great view either. Good central location however, and we were able to walk everywhere.

Fadi

The suite is good, but the water heater is only enough for one person only.

PERFECT Location!

We had a fablulous visit to Christchurch and enjoyed our stay at The Heritage. It was a great location with easy access to shops, restaurants and the trolley. Thanks for a great stay!

Outstanding location and service!!

My wife and I stayed 4 days in February. We didn’t know what to expect initially, but looking back we definatly will come back. The location is perfect, right in the middle of Christchurch, within walking distance of many main attractions, but more importantly near the busses and trams and tour booking area. The staff was friendly and helpful with whatever we needed. Couldn’t have had a better time. We can’t wait to return.

Traveler's tip on dining

Make sure to go to Annie’s in the Arts section of the old college. It’s kind of hidden, but the best time is after lunch and before dinner. We sat for about 2 hours conversing with the very knowledgable staff about wine, and ended up tasting (a lot!) prior to dinner. They were even able to get us a table for dinner service that night. Guys - if you love sports, hit the Holy Grail - best sports bar in the world.

Centrally Located

The Heritage was quite nice. On our first stay we were upgraded to a two room suite with an upper bedroom and lower living room and bathroom. On the second stay we had a regular king room on a lower floor. Ther was some street noise outside that bothered me, I am a light sleeper, so a higher room would help.

Traveler's tip on dining

The Raj Mahal is a great Indian place just 1.5 bllocks away and you can’t find a better breakfast place than Drexels, only 3 blocks away.

Centrally located. No restaurant in hotel but good one next door that also provides room service.

Great if you don’t need A/C

We stayed in the suites in the old goverment building and they were impeccable. The only thing that caught us off guard was that there was no air conditioning and it was very warm in the rooms when we arrived. However, the windows open so as long as it’s cool outside, it’s fine.

One of the best in New Zealand

This hotel is beautiful and centrally located on the square within walking distance to shopping, etc. The staff were extremely cordial and welcoming and the buffet breakfast was great! We were in New Zealand for 14 nights at various hotels. This was the best and we would definitely stay here again in the future.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Check out the breakfast buffet! It’s excellent.

What A Treat!

After staying in motels and lodges throughout the North and South Islands, it was a pleasure to end my trip in the comfort of the Heritage Christchurch. The staff was welcoming, personable, and professional on all shifts. My room was ready when I got there, check-in was quick, and the staff was patient with all of my several tourist questions. The room was clean and spacious. The location is convenient to just about everything, including transportation to go elsewhere, "The Strip" (the restaurant area), shopping, and of course Christchurch Cathedral and the square and all its activities. The city bus stop to the airport is just right on the other side of Cathedral Square from the hotel and costs NZ$7 (one-way) versus taking a shuttle (NZ$20) or taxi (approx. NZ$40). My only complaint would be the noise of rolling carts in the alley side that my room was on. The gym and pool are located in the Old Government Bldg, which was a separate building next to the main hotel tower.

Great location. Excellent hotel.

Located just off Cathedral Square in Christchurch, this is in an ideal tourist location, with the tourist office, the Christchurch tram and tour starting points just across the square. The hotel is very comfortable with all the facilities one would expect from a five star hotel. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Beautiful rooms and great location!

We loved out two night at the Heritage Hotel Christchurch. It is located across from the Cathedral and Cathedral Square. It’s an easy walk to shopping, restaurants, Museum and Botanical Gardens. The rooms are very well done. Ask for a Cathedral view is possible.

Would go back any day

This was such a nice place to stay - great room, valet parking, close to everything we wanted to do downtown - that we came back and cancelled a different hotel to stay here again.

Traveler's tip on dining

Go to Annies restaurant - excellent food and wine.

Extremely Satisfied with this hotel

We only stayed at this hotel for one night but when we arrived they had upgraded us to a one bedroom penthouse suite which was very luxurious. We had a beautiful city view and the staff was very friendly and kind to us. The location is right in the center of town and just off Cathedral Square. We have no idea what a regular room would be like in this hotel but we enjoyed our stay in the penthouse!

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

From the airport there are $5 taxi’s that take one right to Cathedral Square and then it is an easy walk with luggage to this hotel. If you are leaving this hotel for the train station, there is a free bus that leaves from nearby this hotel. Ask about it at the Visitors Centre.
