Nice looks, but the rooms are not that nice

Nice looking hotel at the heart of Berlin. The lobby and front of the building suggest more than you’ll get. The rooms are old fashioned, not 4 star material as they promote. Breakfast was okay, you’d better go eat out.

Great Place in Berlin

This is an excellent hotel. The location on Ku’Damm is perfect. Savigny Platz is just around the corner as is the Am Zoo train station from which many walking tours depart. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. My room was very spacious and comfortable. I look forward to returning.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

The X9 bus from Tegel stops in front of the hotel; a ticket is only 2.10 euros. Laundromat and internet cafe 3 blocks from hotel.

Great location - Great Staff

I would stay there again. Front desk staff was very helpful. Room was spacious - bathroom was small, but sufficient. Close to train stations and lots of shopping and cafes within walking distance.

Traveler's tip on dining

Go to the biergarten just past the Zoo train station - cheap and good! Our favorite place to eat was one stop from the Zoo station @ the Tiergarten station - underneath the tracks - FABULOUS.

great location, tasty breakfast, but all te rest is ..disaster

Located on KU’DAMM, so this is great.BUT room stinks, there are stains on the floor,no toiletries in the bathroom, only hair-hands-body wash ,(3 in one, you can imagine the quality),so bring your own. Looks like the last repairs were ages ago.Breakfast was tasty, but you had to struggle to get, first, the table, then the plate, the glass, the napkins. And they wouldn’t even clean up the table between the clients.all this is strange for the FOUR stars.

Traveler's tip on dining

Go to the the Eastern part of Berlin. You’’ll have more fun

Hotel am Zoo, Berlin

We had a very pleasant stay in a quiet, clean room. Breakfast, discounted to 11 Euros if payed up front on the first day, was more than ample and excellent. Location could not be better.

Centric Hotel

The Hotel is very well placed on the main street of Berlin, close to many shops (especially, KaDeWe department store)and restaurants. The rooms are small and the furnuture is very old (although well-kept), no real cable-TV, and in order to access the Internet, you need to pay a surcharge and go to the reception area or the bar. The personnel are very friendly and helpful, speak reasonably well English. The breakfast is OK. All right for Leisure trips, so you dont spend a lot of time in the room.

Are you kidding me?

I stayed at the hotel for 7 nights. Two of those nights the hallway carpet had been removed but not replaced. The shower temperature ranged from frigid to boiling without changing the faucet. The same can be said about the TV, the channel would just magically change. Additionally, the ’wi-fi’ was not very reliable and was in the lobby only. Plus, the carpet in the room was thread-bare and stained. Overall, spend the extra money and get a nicer place to stay.

superb hotel in outstanding location

Berlin is spread out, so one making a first visit there does not know where to stay. Being on the Ku’damm is great, a busy street, but the hotel is quiet, and the location could not be better. bus 109 from tegel stops steps from hotel, which is steps from the U1 train, 0.3 km from S-bahn Zoo. Room not large, but had everything needed for comfort. only criticism is that internet access is a bit pricey, but there is 24-hr internet next to the S-bahn station. lots of good restaurants in area, superb shopping, many cultural attractions nearby. friendly desk staff, helpful. spent a week there, absolutely would go back. did not try the hotel breakfast, as there are numerous cheaper places nearby, including fastfood types at train station, starbucks, and restaurants. Expecially enjoyed Reinhard’s nearby, with great food. only quibble is that rooms have body wash, so if you need regular soap, shampoo, and conditioner, bring your own. The people of Berlin are sophisticated, and the majority speak multiple languages. They are friendly, helpful, and great hosts for visitors.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

great museums in berlin, so save money by using 3-day pass. Nefertiti at the Altes Gallerie is amazing. for transit, use multi-day passes, and you can add fares for extended trips. many excellent restaurants with fine German food, and not too expensive. Potsdam is a must-see, get the extended visit ticket to see everything, and be certain to walk the town, which is charming. And the beer is.....great!

Great Location!

Hotel Zoo Berlin is in a great location for a pleasure trip to Berlin: close to transportation, bus and train, in addition to sightseeing busses; full range of restaurants within walking distance; wonderful shopping spots in the same block and beyond; across the street from Hagen Daz ice cream store! Hotel’s staff is extremely friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable and clean, and they had the best bed and linens of all the hotels on our trip.

Great location and service

We stayed at the Hotel Zoo over the Christmas holidays. The rooms were well designed, clean, and larger than we expected in Europe. The location was excellent - easy to make bus, train, and subway connections and close to important sites and the best shopping in Berlin. We needed help in getting dinner reservations on Christmas Eve, since so many restaurants were closed. The staff found us a perfect place for dinner, close by. The breakfasts at the hotel are outstanding.

Not confortable

The Hotel is very well situated. Close to the metro stations and a train station makes it very easy to get there and to move around. The staff is friendly and helpfull. The problem with the hotel are the rooms. If you have the blues for your army cot and you do not suffer claustrophobia this is the place for you. The single rooms with a double bed are small, really small and the bed is really unconfortable. For business travelers that need constant wireless communication this can be a problem also. The internet connection are not good.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Breakfast in Europe can be expensive. Is better to book the hotel with the breakfast included. If you don’t, there are several cafes in the vicinity and the known fast food places where you can get a decent breakfast for a few bucks.

great place

berlin zoo was great, the staff is very friendly and helpful. transportation is at the corner and you can connect to everywhere from there. the rooms were large and very clean, the only problem was that there is no a/c which wasnt a problem since the weather was cool. I would think it would be a problem if someoone was to stay there in the middle of heat wave. btw, starbucks is located right on the corner

Traveler's tip on shopping

huge differences in prices for souvenirs, you might want to walk the extra block or two to get a better price.

Very convenient location

I just returned from a weeklong stay in Berlin and I couldn’t have been happier with this hotel. The location was great; very close to public transportation so that you can get to other neighborhoods in no time. And a piece of advice: explore the neighborhood around the hotel. It might seem like one big shopping strip with nothing else, but if you walk a few blocks you’ll find cute places along the side streets, and nice quiet cafes to grab a good cup of coffee. The hotel staff was helpful with all of our questions and was able to provide directions whenever we asked. We never had breakfast in the hotel, but there are so many places once you step outside where you can grab something for a few euros. I would definitely stay here again if I were to return to Berlin.
