Infinity pool

The National’s lobby is filled with Art Deco antiques, and the hotel has a fitness room, but the highlight here is the impressive, 205-foot-long pool that extends to the heated lounging pool behind it.

Past its Zenith

The National must have been a nice hotel 30 years ago. Now, its overly small rooms (we have a Cabana room overlooking the pool) are not much bigger than many closets. The bed was in poor shape or just too cheap to offer any comfort. And the prices for everything from the mini bar to the restaurant were far too extravagant for the quality and service (breakfast at the hotel took almost 70 minutes to receive food). Try one of the many other places for the same dollars per night and you will certainly not be disappointed.

City View???

I was offered a room with a supposed City View but instead I was given a room with a view of the roof of the National Hotel. I was very dissatisfied with the room I was given. When I had the option of an ocean view I opted for a city view hoping I could get a view of the Miami Beach city lights and a look at Collins Ave. How deceptive and misleading!! Just for this reason I will not be staying at the National again. When I tried to upgrade my room I was told I would be unable to b/c the hotel was fully booked. I travel frequently to Miami both for pleasure and to visit family. Unfortunately for National I will not be giving them my business again.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Beware! City View may not be a city view at all!
