Great place for families
The location is a little odd and if you are expecting an exotic and inviting entrance this isnt it. 8 days was plenty. The buffet food gets to be a bit monotonous but was pretty good. The restaurants have to be booked the day before - and the french restaurant only allows older kids. The rooms were spotlessly clean. We are a family of 6 so always have to have two rooms and this was one of the first hotels that actually gave us two rooms that were adjoining and not just next door to each other. The beach bar was great. The water slides look much larger in the pictures than they actually are but the kids still enjoyed them. The kids club seems to cater more for the younger kids - my youngest two are 7 and 9 and didnt like the kids club so we didnt get to use it. The shows are held every night in a nightclub across from the hotel. Some of the shows were a lot of fun and kid friendly. We were a little disappointed to have not been told part of the hotel had burned down so the kids disco and another restaurant was being rebuilt. The amount of people trying to sell you stuff on the beach is crazy. You are constantly pestered with t-shirts, sunglasses, necklaces etc. The people are nice and just walk away if you say "no" but still it gets to be a bit much after a while. The Pirate Ship was awesome! Expensive but a lot of fun and the private beach they take you to is wonderful. Overall for the money, I thought it was good value and a great place to go with kids.
Dont pay for the shuttle service offered when booking this - the hotel is about a 10 minute drive and much cheaper but make sure you go straight out of the airport and get a taxi from there - other people will try to talk to you to get you interested in timeshares.

Awesome for kids!
We had a great time at Crown Paradise, we took our 6/8 yr old girls. They had a blast. Food was good, drinks were awesome, and hotel personnel were fabulous! Our room was comfortable, the beds were hard(that wasnt a surprise, all beds in Mexico seem to be this way)we had an awesome view of the ocean and pool from our room. No bugs was a bonus too!! Pools were well taken care of, no cocktail servers around pools most of time which wasnt a big deal since there were bars at every pool! Overall had a GREAT time and would definitely go back! Thanks to all at Crown Paradise you were great!

Feels like home
We have been to PVR many time an this was our second stay at the Crown Paradise Club. First and foremost, the staff bends over backwards to make you feel at home. While it is not the newest hotel , it is well maintained and very clean. It is safe, as security is ever present while at the same time never intrusive. The food is good and the bar service first-rate. And personally, I like the location...on the beach, walking distance to the marina, market, and shopping, and only 55 pesos (less than 50 cents) to hop on the city bus for a short ride into the city center). Two things, above all, make this hotel a destination for us. One: it is totally family friendly with outstanding activities for the kids and an exemplary chilcare staff (I appreciate this as a parent and a teacher). And two: the hotel, on both occasions, has seemed to be popular with Mexican tourists. You have the feel of being in Mexico rather than a few acres of south Florida relocated. Very fun, family oriented INTERNATIONAL travel. One complaint...the mattresses are a bit firm.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Really, forget the cabs and live like a local for a week. The busses are cheap, they run constantly, and can get you wherever you need to go in town
