Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay

Soooo comfortable

Our trip to Tampa was more business than pleasure and the Grand Hyatt was the perfect place to crash after a busy day. This was not a hotel where I would "hang out". It has a business atmosphere with beautiful amenities. However, the rooms are beyond comfortable and luxurious.

We will return!

From the moment we arrived the staff could not have been friendlier or more accomodating. The pool, restaurant and boardwalk to the gazebo were added bonuses. We will definitely come again.

My smokey, dirty little casita

I was really excited to stay at a quaint little casita after a local concert in Tampa. I had specifically requested a non-smoking room, and the first thing I saw when I entered the casita was a note on the side table saying that there would be an additional $250 cleaning charge for smoking in the room. Unfortunately, that must not have applied to the previous occupants, as the first thing we smelled was cigarette smoke, and not just a little bit either. I immediately called the front desk and of course they did not seem to believe me but their solution was to have the maintenance department drop off a de-ionizing machine. They did come fairly quickly and hooked up the machine (which was loud). Just what you want to listen to in your room, right? Well we left for a few hours and when we came back the air did smell slightly better. Imagine our disgust though when we got in bed and the linens smelled extremely smokey!! Great! I want to write more, but expedia won’t let me, so to summarize.. I will never go back.

Crazy High CLASS!

This hotel can be sumed up in one way "HIGH CLASS" The hotel has its own ocean front, its not near any other hotels at all. This was a hotel way above my pay grade, but expidea got me in for a good price. They bent over backwards for me.. gave me a microwave, extra fold out bed...anything i asked for. The only things i didnt like is internet wasn`t free...$9.95 a day and they didnt allow fast food deliveries to come up to my room i had to meet them down stairs. Another thing is its a buissenes hotel not a vaccation hotel so theres alot of people in suits going to convention meetings in the hotel, and i have my swim shorts and sandels on all the time...sorta makes you feel a little out of place.... Pool is very nice with a bar outside. nice nature walk to the water. and its 5 mins from downtown tampa.

Too far from the center (not good preliminary info), and we were not lucky - to have awful night there - all floor was so noisy because of some group of drunked people doing like hulligans. And securities had been engaged in long and loud negotiations with this band - I would call city police instead, but hotel didn’t, as I know. We did not sleep half a night. And our complaints did not help.

Great pool/beach at Casitas

The tower pool was not kept clean, there were always bugs and leaves. The outdoor jacuzzi was kept even dirtier!The pool outdoor bar was never open. The Casitas pool was kept low key but it was found--worth the nice boardwalk walk to clean pool, hammocks, and beach. The room did have a water view when you looked out at proper angle--not a true water view of Tampa Bay. The room also did not have flat screen tv as pic on website. I expected more technology from a upscale hotel. The staff was helpful and pleasant.

We had a great stay - highly recomend it - room was very nice - could not hear other rooms or ouside noise - niece view from the room - food a tad bit over priced but in nice to have it on location

Excellent Place to Stay

We were extremely happy with this hotel. The room was neat and clean. We ate at the bar, and the food was excellent. The service was good, and everyone was friendly and cheerful. We had four people in our room, so we needed extra towels. Towels were delivered immediately, and we were given extra in case we would need them. We had transportation from the hotel to the pier, and the front desk personnel happily arranged this for us.

Rooms were large enough to easily accomodate four adults, and would work well for a small family.

Wish we could have stayed longer!

This was a great hotel! Beautiful, comfortable, lots to do. I’d recommend it to everyone. Expedia’s special rate was a unbelievable value.

good at club floor

I and my wife stayed 11th floor with reasonable price. There is a ’club room’ serving variety of food and beverage. And the view from the club room is so beautiful! Unfortunately there is no beach, but we can take a good walk in seashore.We enjoyed comfortable stay in Grand Hyatt.

A drive to clear water bay is very beautiful.

Do not recommend.

Service unsatisfactory. Changed rooms because room booked was not what we had wanted. Rude regarding room change. Cleaning of rooms and supplying rooms with clean towels etc. mediocre at best. I will be visiting Tampa frequently in the future. Will not be staying at the Grand Hyatt- I will try other Hotels.

Grand Hyatt needs to redecorate, fix plumbing & train workers!

I’ve stayed at the Grand Hyatt in several cities including New York. This was the lowest on the list. Okay so, I stayed for a weekend. I got in late Friday night extremely tired, so I went to my room and looked around. It was clean but the furnishings were very dated including the curtains. I don’t know when the last time a fruit motif was in style? Maybe the 80’s! The leather chair was stained & old looking. Saturday morning while getting for the day, I noticed that they have very poor plumbing. Let’s just say you can’t flush a small wad toilet tissue more than twice within the day without the toilet clogging. Then the sink’s water pressure was extremely low. I could barely lather up my soap and wash cloth. The shower was okay. I think they need to upgrade the rooms instead of just focusing lobby’s atmosphere. I couldn’t see paying full price per night for any room there until those actions are completed. Although, the room service from the kitchen was great. I would eat food from there again. The valet workers were unfriendly. The front desk people were okay but still they rarely made you feel like they wanted your business. They were only interested in collecting payment.

Business Comfort

The the staff is very friendly and helpful - the room spacious and homey, and the bed quite comfortable. This modern high rise hotel has good Tampa Bay views and is also just a few minutes from downtown.

Traveler's tip

If you are driving from the airport, (the hotel is close) get a GPS system to help you get around a lot of highway construction in the area.

The bed was fantastic!

Hotel was convenient to Tampa Airport, location was easy to get to - we really just needed a good place to sleep on a whirlwind weekend trip. The bed was amazing, I intend on looking it up & possibly buying it for my home! Location was excellent, set by itself, probably would stay again!

Descent hotel. Seems to have its own exit from Causeway

Close to airport but yet, you will not hear the planes take off and land. Option bay view but I just settled on a great view of the parking lot. Has all the amenities needed for a hotel. Free parking!!!

Great place on Tampa Bay

A very nice place to stay. Easy to get to from all directions. Lovely nature walkway along Tampa Bay. Noise is an issue due to the hotels close proximity to the Tampa airport.

Excellent Place to Stay; Can’t wait to go back

The customer service was excellent. We were upgraded to a Casita Room and the view was extravagant! We also were close to the pool and across the small pond was our private parking lot. I couldn’t ask for anything more! This hotel was close to everywhere and we didn’t have to drive too far from anything. Loved it!

Nice Getaway

Stayed in a Casita so it wasn’t really a "hotel" experience. It was quite relaxing. Except for the occasional airplane noise(very close to the airport)and some late night revelers walking through the area on Friday night (1AM), it was really a mellow way to spend four days. The facilities that I used (gym, pool) were very good as well. The Casita I was in was comfortable, and the bed was great, but the room could have used a bit of Capital Expenditure (chair had a stain on the arm, there was some writing (small) on a door frame in the room as well- kind of shocking for a Hyatt. Nice touch was having an umbrella provided in the room’s closet.

Traveler's tip

You’ll need a car if you want to do almost anything away from the hotel. And bring an aircard if you want to check emails. They’ll charge $10 or $12 per day.

Excellent hotel very close to Tampa airport

The hotel was excellent. Getting there proved to be very difficult due to road construction. I’d recommend talking to the hotel in advance if you are driving to get VERY SPECIFIC directions on how to get there.

I found this hotel to be the perfect relaxation spot for a quick weekend getaway. The pool areas were great and loved the happy hour!

Well maintained hotel very near the airport. Small but pleasant pool. Nice gym open 24/7. Accomodating of late check out request.

This hotel was absolutely wonderful, the staff was very friendly, the pools were both really nice and the room was great! We will definitely go back to this hotel and would recommend it to anyone who loves to be treated great while away from home :)

This hotel was convienent to the Highway close to Clearwater and only an hour and 10 minutes to Orlando.
