Lancaster Host

I had stayed at this facility many years ago and thought it to be a top of the line accomodation. Although it is still clean it was like the same place as 20 years ago. Nothing has been modernized! We stayed on a Friday night and there was a lot of activity in the halls and we heard a good bit of it through the walls so it wasn’t the best night for sleep. I will probably pay the extra money next time to stay somewhere else!

Nothing Special

This hotel was a place to stay overnight. Nothing much distinguished it. The elevator ride to the 2nd floor was truly creepy. A facelift is in order for this place.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Very close to outlet malls.

Not one of the best

My recent stay at the Lacaster Host Inn was rather disappointing. Front desk people were very aloof, and not very welcoming. When I entered my room I wasn’t sure it had been cleaned--there was a half empty cup of coffee sitting on the dresser. Also trash cans in front of the hotel were full to over-flowing and there was trash on the ground around them. These were not emptied the whole time we were there.

Don’t bother--for the price of the stay per nite I expected much nicer accomodations.

not impressed

Most of the hotel smells like mildew. First room I checked in the smell was overwhelming. Second room was tolerable. The lobby reminded me of the one in the movie The Shining.

Very dissatisfied

The check in staff was not friendly at all. They acted like it was a bother for them to check us in to the room. We were awakened at 6:00 a.m. by the alarm clock (which we never touched). Then later we were awakened again by dogs barking in the hall from the room across from ours. I am an animal lover, but I do not want to share my vacation with them. This will be the last time we stay at this hotel!

Go Some Place Else!

I am not one to write reviews, but I had to with this hotel. The Lancaster Host Resort was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at and I travel alot. The room was DIRTY, sheets did not fit the bed and the reception staff was unfriendly. If my husband and I were not so tired and had not been traveling all day we would have found another hotel. We left at 6am, just to get out of the hotel room.

A few small things ruin what could be a good hotel

My biggest complaints with this hotel? 1) The door to the room! I never in a million years thought I’d complain about a hotel door, but these are very thin (letting all of the hallway sound in), and too short (letting all of the hallway light in). 2) The bathroom is small, even for a hotel bathroom. Normally I could deal with this, but on top of that, there is absolutely no room in the shower. I’m a 150lb guy, and I had to stand sideways to avoid hitting the disgusting shower curtain, and even then it was a challenge. Maybe a curved shower rod would have helped, who knows. It’s a shame to see these easily fixable flaws in a hotel that has a lot of character.

Well...

The hotel is very nice, the rooms are well appointed, beds are very comfortable ... but I do not like the little courtesy of the girls at the hotel reception, I think there should be people with charisma and a good smile, we are paying for good service. Nor am I happy to have been denied the use of the pool outside in the evening, I think is one of the hotel sites that can be used when required by the host ...

Lancaster Host and Resort don’t get drawn in by the big fancy sign in front of the hotel

The desk staff is appallingly rude. There are no elevators or access to some of the floors which was a problem. We did not think a big hotel would not have elevators to all the floors. The rooms are a disaster. TV reception was bad in 1 of our rooms, the AC did not work, bathrooms were nasty. Pools OK. Restaurant breakfast a waste of time. Go elsewhere

Traveler's tip on shopping

Rockvale Square- Go to the office to get updated information and a Rockvale Square card for additional savings at some stores. Tanger Outlet- Same, go to the office. For $5.00 you get a nice coupon book which is free for AAA members.

Not impressed

This hotel was adequate at best. Not worth the money charged for a room there. Unfortunately, the choice is there or a one or two star motel.

Must have been nice when the openend it

Very disapointed at the Hotel and would not recommend it. Our bedroom door was hard to close properly the carpet was dirty. The room was by the entrance doors which are very loud. The pool looks run down. There are many other places around don’t stay at this place.

Great Upgrade But Needs Updating

We got a wonderful upgrade to a suite - IT IS HUGE! Unfortunately, it rained while in Lancaster and the ceiling leaks - they must have quite a bit of this - there were buckets all around the lobby. We let maintenance know but I am not sure what they did to fix it. Great lounge and the pool bar is nice- though they need better service there. They said that the pool was recently upgraded but not as far as I could tell. Nice shuffleboard court and ping pong table. It is time they put some money back into the resort.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Outlet malls as great though you really need to look for bargains now. Texas Roadhouse is awesome - you can call ahead for seating.

Would go again

Overall we had a nice time at the hotel. The staff was very friendly. It’s close to Dutch Wonderland which was the main reason we picked it. The rooms were clean but ours did have a strong smoke odor. The rooms could use a little update. We tried to use the indoor pool one night but it was freezing cold even though the sign states that it’s set at 80 degrees. They had an outdoor Disney movie each nice which was a really nice way to relax with our son before bed. We thought it was a good deal for the price.

The True Story

Read all the reviews before i went and was worried. They all turned out to be based in truth. Not the greatest hotel, but served its purpose. Was older, but was clean. Needed updated, but was servicable. Staff wasn’t overly friendly, but werent jerks either. Took my 3yoa grandson and he LOVED it. Put-Put was rundown, but he loves Put-Put and played the corse many times, and he spent everynight in the playroom with the other kids wearing himself out. Hotel was close to everything and within walking distance to some. Very good location. If your looking for a luxury, go elsewhere. But if you just want a nice place to stay after seeing the sights, then this place is perfect.

Traveler's tip on dining

Didnt think it was possible to screw up breakfast, but it is. The buffet was horrible!!! But definately go to the Texas Roadhouse across the street. Not a fan of Buffets, but Millers was OK if your into them.

Would stay there again, but beds not very comfortable.

Overall we were satisfied and would stay here again. We loved the fact that is was a pet friendly hotel. A couple issues were the beds were a little hard and not very comfortable. The indoor pool was pretty cold and the game room was like a sauna. Our kids loved the ping pong table and the shuffle board. We also really enjoyed the breakfast buffet. :)

Excellent value for the money

This hotel is a little "long in the tooth," but it is being maintained and updated and provides an excellent value for the money. My only complaint would be that it is very expensive to use their breakfast facility for a family. They also charge $25 for the use of a $50 mini refrigerator which is way too much. It should be $1.00 per day.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

They are centrally located to enjoy the area’s best attractions.

Not toddler friendly......

This is a review coming from a family who is use to the comfort and amenities of vacations in Disney hotels. The hotel seemed to cater more to business people and golfers. I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you have kids. The kidzone playroom was unsupervised and usually full of kids who didn’t belong in there running around with no parent in sight yet you needed a room key to enter. Even though there are 2 floors there were no elevators and we had a toddler in a stroller. Pool is not heated but they had a volleyball court, shuffleboard and a ping pong table. Location was great. The bartenders at Good Spirits were good. We did not eat there so no comment on the food. Most of all our stay was decent and the rooms were clean. Overall not a bad hotel, just not for families with young children.

Location was right across the street from Dutch Wonderland. Good hotel if you are just planning on sleeping there.

Good place to stay

Loved the Golf course at the hotel (very reasonable and a beautiful course) as well as the fact that it is centrally located to all attractions in the area. The room was cold and although the staff was quick to try and fix it it stayed a bit cold. Also the coin operated Washing machine near our room was not working and there was no indication of it...Again staff was helpful...For the price I would stay there. Light Fare at the Bar was excellent.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Very centrally located to all attractions in Pa Dutch Country.

Hotel staff not friendly

The overall conditions of the hotel was adequate & the location was conveinent. The floor plan of the hotel was not user friendly. However, what made me decide not to use this place again for another upcoming trip to Lancaster was the unfriendliness of the reservations desk. The arrival the clerk was disinterested in my arrival & showed a poor sttitude. The morning clerk displated the same unfriendly attitude. Can not recommend this hotel.

All in all, not too bad

Although parts may need some updating, overall it was a pleasant stay while there on business. The room and bathroom were decent-sized, restaurant was good - just ask if you don’t want to be seated near families with lots of kids!

Nice Place

Hotel and room were very nice, everything you could want was near by even though it is several miles out of town and if you have kids or are a kid at heart, Dutch Wonderland is across the highway.
