Royal Treatment
The Hotel staff were all friendly and welcomed you when you arrived. A refreshment was offered at checkin which was nice after 23 hours in travel. Very impressive and would stay there again.
Traveler's tip for business travelers
When leaving the airport for a short trip to the Orchid, get a prepaid Taxi. This was very quick and the luggage was handled for you after the long journey to India from the USA.

Orchid = Expensive Mistake
Warning: very poor management at this hotel, limited facilities and dodgy plumbing. Definitely not a 5-star! Not as advertised: I chose the Orchid because the hotel description said it included a spa, health centre, and multiple restaurants (as is pretty standard for a 5-star hotel), plus nice gardens. A bit out of the way of the Delhi city centre, but that is ok. When I got to the hotel, having reserved 4 nights, I found that it was undergoing renovation, so the health centre and spa were closed, and there was only one restaurant, which was ok, but had a pretty limited menu. Immediately, I decided to cancel 2 nights and shift to another hotel, as those facilities were the main reason I booked. They told me although they recognized their concerns, they "could not" refund any portion of my reservation, although they added that other people had been in the same position. No hot water: The 2 days and 3 nights that I was there, every time I tried to take a shower, the hot water either was off, or came out in a lukewarm yellow dribble. Wasted time and money: Management gave me a very hard time, I spent hours trying to work through the management system to get someone I could reason with: no success, they were all like robots. I gave up, left, and they kept my money! Since this has happened to numerous people, be warned! Overpriced and unprofessional.
