Don’t believe the pictures -- this place is rundown
We were very disappointed in the quality of this hotel. The pictures must be about 30 years old, as our room was falling apart. Couldn’t use the sliding glass doors as they kept falling off the track. The AC didn’t work well--it took about 5 hours to cool down the room on the first night. The AC was only in 1/2 of the suite, so the other 1/2 was always uncomfortable. To make it worse, the management thought it was acceptable to shut down the AC during the day for maintenace--which meant that when you returned at night, your room was about 90 degrees. The fire alarm went off twice during the week we were there -- at 6:15am & 1:30 am. Nice. I can’t believe Expedia would have a desk at this hotel. It is definitely below par. Positives: close to town, nice pool (no saltwater pool though). IF you get a great deal, and don’t care about a run-down room, then this place might be okay just for the pool and the location.

Fantastic Stay
My wife and I celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary and her 51st birthday with an eight day stay at the hotel. When we arrive, I was pleasantly surprised that the hotel upgraded our room with the most beautiful room with an ocean view. Wonderful. We loved the fully equipped kitchen. KUDOS to Outrigger staff. Ps. Thank you for making our special occasion better than I/we had ever hoped.

Concierge: The concierge was somewhat knowledgeable of the attractions in the area. DO YOUR HOMEWORK! Most important - get a AAA map or route map of the island. Make sure the map has street names.

We Loved It
We had a 2 bedroom unit on the 7th floor with an ocean view. It was spacious, well appointed and clean with two outside decks facing the ocean. The concierge desk was very congenial and helpful- answering all of our questions and helping us with our planning. We would love to go back again and again.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
Don’t miss the opportunity to swim with the turtles at the state park just a few miles south on Alii Drive. Get there around 8 in the morning. I sat down on a rock to put my flippers on and almost stepped on one. Also recommend the night swim with the manta rays - awesome experience.
