Comfortable accomodations in a great location
This was our 2nd time staying here and we look forward to coming back again. We stayed in a standard studio, which met our needs just fine. It had everything we needed to feel like home for a week! We enjoyed having breakfast on our patio each morning and experiencing the diversity of many fine restaurants at night. One not to be missed is the Old Man and The Sea for both its food and ambiance. We rented a car for 3 days to do grocery shopping, some touring around the island and visiting some of the off the main road restaurants. We always came back to the beach right across the street, Eagle Beach, our favorite. It was great having it so close and never had problems getting a spot in the shade no matter what time we went out on the beach. Can’t wait to come back!!!

Nothing Special
This place was just OK. Others have given this place rave reviews. I just don’t see it. Comparing it to other resorts I’ve been to this place is average. Pros:Kitchenets in Rooms, Hotel Property/Room/Beach kept very clean, Very close to beach, Staff wansn’t in your face, The lady in the convience store was friendly, Hotel and Property Small and quiet, Far from City/Casinos Cons:Far from City/Casinos, Bed hard as a brick, Construction going on across the street from room (looks like they’ve been there a long time, expect a.m. noise), Traffic noise,No Gardens & few Trees/lushness, lots of concrete, Broken A/C untit (Stuck on max cold, room was freezind all of the time, Which if I had to choose a broken A/C unit I would choose the one stuck on cold than the one unable to cool), Periods of time during the day that food was unavailable (closed resturants etc), furnishings dated (you can tell this place has been around awhile)

Exactly what we hoped it would be!
I originally booked the Amsterdam Manor as a couples getaway, so I chose Eagle Beach for a more laid back romantic-type environment. When trip had to change to a "girls" trip, I was afraid it would be too quiet, but it ended up being exactly what we all hoped it would be. It was a perfect blend of laid-back, with special moments of "fun" mixed in at the Thur. mgr. reception with $1 drinks and at the Sun. evening cocktail party at the beach bar. Janeen really knows how to get a party started! . I can’t say enough great things about the staff here. Very attentive and always with a smile -- they do their best to learn your name, which I haven’t experienced before. The food at Mango’s was delicious, and the best part: we walked out our front door directly onto the path across the quaint little road to the BEST beach around! Always had a palapa and lounge chairs, and steps to the beach bar. All this, and perfectly located between downtown and Palm Beach, so all the action you could want is a 5 min. car ride away. We rented a car so that we could explore, which was easy to do and we enjoyed the flexibility. As much as I enjoy trying new places, I fell in love with the AMBR and the people there, so I can’t imagine staying anywhere else! Oh, and 4 nights isn’t long enough!
