Mixed feelings
The hotel itself and the staff were outstanding. This hotel was so clean you could eat off the floor. It’s right across from the train station which is very convenient, but at the same time, there are lots of odd characters who hang out in the area. There are lots of shops and little restaurants ( we found a superb one down the street), but we had to walk through some "gangs" of boys to get there. We were a bit insecure and we wouldn’t have done it if we didn’t have a few strong men in our group. Venice Island is only a trainride away so what we paid for the hotel was incredibly affordable for Mestre, but not everything was perfect. I would stay there again if they "cleaned up" the area.

Excellent location to stay outside venice
We stayed in Hotel Tritone in Mestre a bus ride away from the heart of Venice. Hotel is across from train station and bus stop into Venice. Excellent location. Bus stops at main terminal for buses in Venice. Buy your ticket in the sandwich shop on the street next to hotel prior to taking bus and get the vaparetto, taxi, pass. We took the 36 hr. pass and it was perfect for a day and a half in Venice. We took the taxis up and down the canals and the water taxi to Murano, a quaint, clean pleasant town with Murano glass in every window. Just a beautiful ride on the other sides of Venice and an experience to see how the natives live on the water. Hotel was perfect and worth the cost for a triple room. Hotel was 4 Star and well kept with excellent breakfast included in price of room.
Training thru Italy is easy. Always remember to validate your train ticket in those little yellow or red boxes before boarding the train. Most ticket personnel speak English and it was easy. We also bought our train tickets the day before especially if we were already in the station arriving. Made the stress of catching the train, validating...easy to forget....so much easier to get ticket before hand.

AMAZING FIND!
This was such a find if you are visiting Venice. 10 mins to Venice via train accross the street. Rooms were clean and had no bad smell whatsoever. Free Wireless!!! Amazing Free Breakfast Buffet!!! For the price you can’t beat it. It is the best 4 star hotel I have ever stayed at in Europe. I would rather stay there than in almost any hotel in Venice. Definately give it a try. I will definately stay there again. The other people also staying there had the same things to say.
