good choice
Well maintained, stately hotel with an accommodating staff. Ask for a room facing the quiet interior courtyard. Located on the busy Nevsky Prospekt shopping district, about a 30 min. walk from the Hermitage. Restaurant and bar have excellent food and are priced accordingly. Reasonable exercise/weight lifting facility on site. Free wireless internet access in a comfortable room that has older character, but modern plumbing with radiant heat in bathroom floor. Declined ~$100/night upgrade to business class, which includes a larger room and breakfast. Bottled water provided by hotel. The hotel water is filtered, but as is true for most of Saint Petersburg, it is advised not to drink the water. Very happy with this choice.
