Excellent Hotel combining luxurious with honest price
I went to Penang Island on Holiday Vacations in Malaysia and besides the beautiful places I’ve seen in GeorgeTown I believe that it won’t be complete if I wasn’t in E&O Hotel. The place is wonderful, excellent rooms, staff and structure. The pool is a must everybody should go. Definitively you are inside Penang’s history when you check-in in E&O.

Amazing Period Hotel !
Staying at the E&O was like being transported back to the colonial era and gave one the feeling of how it would have been back in the day. This hotel is the place to stay especially in a place like Georgetown ! which is totally soaked in history and culture. On the beach and in the centre of the historical remnants . The hotel has been a part of the orient express travel path i’m told and i can certainly belive it.
Our 6 year old loved it mainly because of the pool, great breakfast and very large rooms ! The toilets are also very large so it is quite comfortable for families.

Beautiful Hotel in Penang
We spent 3 days at the E&O Hotel, the room was large and nicely furnished. The hotel was built in 1885 but has been refurbished and is just beautiful. The staff was marvelous, the selections of foods was amazing and delicious. No complaints at all and definitely will return.

I will definitely go back :)
My wife and I went to the Eastern and Oriental Hotel for our honeymoon. It was great! The staff were excellent; always kind, friendly and did their job well. The suite was really nice...high ceilings and great views. The food in the hotel was good, and the coffee was great :) We plan to return for an anniversary in a couple of years.

It’s located about 5-10 minutes walk from China town and Little India - great food and shopping.

Nice hotel in Georgetown
This hotel was originally built over 100 years ago. It has been modernized is in great condition and retains its colonial charm. There must have been 5-6 (expensive) weddings during our stay which says a lot about its local reputation. I recomend the sea view suite. It has beautiful teak hardwood floors, beautiful bath and a great view. The only weakness was the lack on a non-smoking room on check in (we insisted and they provided) and their lack of offering tourist information.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Take a taxi to the Gurney Plaza. It will make any American feel right at home.
