Movenpick Petra
We chose this hotel because of all the good reviews and its great location in front of the entrance to Petra site. The hotel is beautiful on the inside, especially the inner courtyard. It is set up like a Mogul Palace. Upon arrival, the king bedroom we booked was not ready. So they upgraded us to a 2 double bed suite. This was a larger room but with a smaller bed; even trade in my opinion. Not a big deal since we were only going to be there for one night. We ate most of our meals at the outside neighboring resteraunts because the hotel was alot more pricey. The price for lunch buffet was around $28 (crazy). On our last day after visiting the Petra site in the morning, cleaning up and checking out. We just hung out in the hotel courtyard and had drinks and some food while we waited for our taxi to take us to Amman airport. We had run out of Jordanian cash (just enough for the taxi) so we stayed in to hotel to pay with credit cards. Overall, the hotel is very nice, the staff was very curteous, and the location is unbeatable.

Three reasons for staying here: location, location and location
Møvenpick Petra Resort is an OK hotel. But the location is absolutely perfect. Maybe that is one of the reasons for it not being so perfect. People will come anyway. We plan to go back to Petra many times, bringing guests, but honestly I don not think we will stay at Møvenpick very often. The bar is the most beautiful bar you will find around. The rooftop restaurant is lovely. But it is all too high priced for what you get. It is even OK to pay a high price to stay at an excellent hotel. But when the stars are faded, and all extras are extremely expensive in addition, then it is not worth it. Only reasons to recommend this hotel are again; location, location and location.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Find the Ammarin Bedouin Camp. That is a lot more exiting.
