Cheap, clean, friendly

Second time I’ve stayed a the Suites Bahia. The room was clean. The people that work at the hotel are always friendly and helpful. Price is cheap! I’m a single diver and I don’t need much from a hotel. I wouldn’t stay here if I was bringing a girlfriend but if traveling on a budget or alone this is a great place. Great location!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The Suites Bahia is right on the water. Only a few blocks from the square. If you want to avoid the crowds, walk a few blocks in from the water.

It gets the job done

This hotel is OK if you need an inexpensive place to stay in Cozumel, but the bedspread on our bed was disgusting.

Clean, affordable hotel in the heart of downtown Cozumel

Our stay at the Suites Bahia was very pleasant. The staff was very friendly and spoke English well. The hotel is not luxurious, but then again, you definitely aren’t paying luxury prices to stay there. Two potential problems that you might encounter are the fact that the beds are VERY firm and the very low water pressure in the shower. Otherwise, the hotel is very convenient to everything downtown and a good value for what you get.

Great Stay at Bahia

This hotel was great. It has a great location in the center of town. Only 2 blocks from the Plaza. The room was clean, and comfortable! The only bummer was that we had to use the AC, I would have perfered some kind of fan in the room. I would recommend staying here, the staff could communicate in English and were very helpful.

Traveler's tip on dining

You must eat at La Choza. Its only around the corner from Bahia and is great.

10 Nights great buffet breakfast and perfect rate

The bed is a little hard and the water needs to run about 5min to get warm, but these minuses are offset by the perfect downtown location within walking to everything and low rate. Also, cant forget the breakfast buffet every morning with a cook that will make what you like and fast wifi.

Budget Hotel Great Value for Divers

I have stayed here at least 6 different 1-wk vacations over the years. A new improvement is in-room safes. Elevator works, great continental breakfast, TV and in-room phones work perfectly. Free Wi-Fi. You might want to consider upgrading to a balcony room, but we prefer the cheaper rooms that face the building next door cuts down the heat, light, and noise, helps with afternoon naps. Not luxurious, but I am there for the diving and eating and sleeping, I don’t need extra fanciness and other frills I don’t need. This way, I can go to Cozumel twice a year. You won’t go wrong staying at the Suites Bahia.

Traveler's tip on dining

By staying near downtown, you can easily walk to many different restaurants all within 4 blocks.

Convenient and inexpensive option

For me this hotel was an easy choice based on other reviews, it’s centrally located and they have a breakfast buffet deal with the Vista Del Mar hotel a block or two away which is well worth it. Suites Bahia is also only a block away from Aqua Safari dive shop which is where I ended up doing all my dives. The bed was a bit stiff but tolerable for the price. I had a fridge in my room which was nice for beer and water, which I got at the convenience store a half block away.

Aqua Safari dive shop, only a block away

Nice, no frills hotel

Everything was great excpet the hotel is very stingy regarding towels. We stayed in the largest type room with the ocean view balcony and liked the room; it also has a kitchen with full size fridge. The hotel does not provide towels for the beach and they do not provide hand towels or wash cloth towels in the room...only two bath size towels per day and the towels are old, thin and worn out. Bring or buy you own towels and then this is a great place to stay!!!

Hard Beds

Beds were hard as concrete, shower was loosing it’s trim on the door and the desk clerk’s were no help unless you insisted that they take care of the problem. I would suggest that unless you don’t care about where you stay it was fine but for me I am a little picky about confort. The rooms need updating which is fine but the beds are AWFUL..

Good stay

This hotel worked out great for my travels. I spent 8 night there in December. The rooms are clean and big. The staff is friendly and helpful. Wireless internet!!! This hotel is simple! Good location!

Traveler's tip on dining

Stay away from the first 3 streets from the water when the cruise ships are in. Ask locals where they eat. Better prices and food! Go into the town! Don’t be a tourist!

Nice, inexpensive downtown hotel

Hotel location is convenient for diver. Pretty good breakfast included in a hotel next block, clean room, free internet. Negative: noisy air conditioner, no kitchen utensils, no chest (limited storage space though rooms are pretty large).

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Bring/buy cooking pan/pot if you want to utilize kitchen

Great stay at Suites Bahia once again

Check in was very fast. Bags were taken up to room right away. TV and AC had remotes that worked. Maid always had room cool for our return from diving. Close 2-4 block walk to many restaurants. Phone calls cost minimal amount per call. No purified water provided, but very cheap to buy within 1 block. Location on waterfront. A few toiletries provided in room. No washcloths. (same everywhere in Cozumel). Close to everything. Super service, good AC, less than adequate shower water pressure.(again same as in most of Cozumel) Clean room, good AC, functional elevator, excellent front desk, perfect for budget minded divers/tourists. Would stay here again and again.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

visit Cozumel but don’t expect it to be luxurious unless you pay the bucks for it. Cozumel and locals are wonderful. Get to know them.

Decent hotel

This was a nice hotel at a good price. There is no parking, but that is normal on Cozumel. The hotel was clean and the staff helpful. It was easy walking to shopping and food.

Suites Bahia excellent low price choice

Nice features of the hotel: continental breakfast with fresh fruit and pastries, functional elevator, friendly front desk staff, large rooms, kitchenettes, relatively quiet, close to downtown, easy for divers to catch a boat. Problem: in October 2007 the street in front of hotel and many downtown streets are torn up for reconstruction. Very difficult getting in and out of hotel, and impossible to keep dirt and sand off feet. But that is a temporary problem. I would guess that by Thanksgiving all the reconstruction will be close to finished. Also, there isn’t a safe lock-box for hotel guests. All they have is a manila envelope with masking tape. Leave expensive items at home.

Traveler's tip on dining

Be sure to try the Tropical Fish Fillet at La Choza restaurant just a few blocks away. Their avocado pie is also great, not to mention their coffee. Watch out for the orange-colored salsa...it’s addictive!!

Enjoyed It

Hotel is located about two blocks from the central market and one block from the ferry which is very convenient. Great beach view. The continental breakfast is awesome! Room service came in daily and cleaned room, changed sheets and towels.

Perfect if in a pinch

The best part of this hotel was its location and its price. We missed our cruise so we had to catch up with it in Cozumel and this was the perfect option for us. It is directly in the heart of the downtown area and we even walked to the Cruiseship dock from our hotel within 5 minutes. The shops are surrounding this hotel in all directions and so are places to eat. The hotel itself was interesting and the rooms were very large. We had a king bed, a kitchen a bathroom and another double bed behind our king bed. It isn’t new by any means and I don’t think that I’d want to stay here for more than a few nights, but we felt safe and had a bed. It was 10 bucks from the airport to the hotel by taxi and was a short 5 minute drive. As with all of Cozumel it is very rocky on most of the shoreline so it is about a 15 dollar taxi ride to the nearest beach and we had a great time there (Playa Mia). One GREAT perk is that they have high speed internet that you can use for free. He even let us use the internet to inform our family that we had actually made it on the ship after we had checked out of the hotel. It was easy booking through expedia.
