Great hotel, reasonably priced

We were pleased with thr Park South from the speed with which the bellman took care of our luggage to the quick checkout. The staff was very pleasant and helpful, the location, about 4 blocks from the Empire State Building, was good and the price was reasonable.

good location, small but comfortable rooms

i really like the hotel although the room was smaller than i thought, it is well located, so you can go anywhere in NY, a subway is just in the corner, it is a clean hotel, this is a really important thing, and you can grab an apple just in case you are hungry after walking all over manhattan

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

use the subway! it is really useful and you can save time, have a good breakfast and take something for later. Make a schedule and leave early the hotel, there are a lot of things and places to see around the city.

Little jewell-hotel in the Gramercy area

South Park Hotel is a little jewell in the Gramercy district, on the beautiful Park Avenue South and close to the subway. Interesting: a continental breakfast was included (most of NYC hotels do not include any breakfast) and if it is cold outside or you are too tired, you can dine downstairs at its fancy and cozy restaurant "Black Duck". Rooms are small (NYC stardard) but extremely comfortable, clean and well furnished. In a word: a little jewell.

Too small and far away

This hotel was a big disappointment. The pictures online make the rooms seem large and unique when in actuality the room is only big enough to accommodate a bed. We had to open our suitcases on our bed because of the small space. The location was far from everything NYC has to offer. We felt like we should have stayed in our previous large hotel room for the same price in Times Square.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Go somwhere else.

Good Location

This was a great location for my visit to NYC. I did not see any valet parking but there was a lot directly across the street. Morning breakfast was great. Ask that your room not be next to the service closet!

great place tio stay

The hotel was very clean and the front desk was very informative with places to go and things to do that were not tourist attractions. The rooms were smaller than we were used to but larger than most international hotels in Europe. The continental breakfast had a large variety and good staff. There is a subway hub on the far corner from the hotel which was convienient or walking was also safe. There are good restaurants within a couple of streets and this hotel is slightly out of the tourist hub which was nice.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Ask the front desk their opinions on better places to eat and visit that aren’t frequented by tourist and prices are normally lower. The subway is safe, clean, cheaper and easy to use or hop on and off of the city bus tours.

Very nice hotel

I loved this hotel - good location to see all of Manhatten - very close to subway - friendly staff - clean, comfortable rooms. I would definitely go back if I had the opportunity and I would recommend it to my friends.

Rooms were very small. That was the only drawback.

A Pretty Little Hotel off Park Avenue

Park South was a very well appointed boutique hotel located close to the subway just off Park Avenue in Murray Hill. I was even impressed with the quality of soaps and shampoos that were provided in the bathroom - much higher quality than the cheap junk hotels usually provide. The room and the bed linens were pretty (although my view was of a brick wall and there was no light - but no matter - you don’t go to New York to admire the view from your hotel room!) The staff was extremely courteous and friendly, the rooms were clean and nicely furnished....and as a single woman traveler I felt perfectly safe. A lot of the other guests appeared to be families or business travelers. I would happily stay there again and felt I got exceptional quality for my money.

Great location, would certainly return.

We loved the location and because the subway was only half a block away, we were able to easily get back and forth to a show without having to stay in the hectic Times Square area. The neighborhood had lots of reasonably priced food choices, especially Indian. Our room was small, but very clean with a comfortable bed and extra pillows.

Adequate

The room was very small. Staff at the front desk were very helpful. The bathroom drinking glasses were not replaced during our three day stay. The complimentary breakfasts were nice.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Many sights to see were within walking distance such as: Radio City Music Hall, Rockerfeller Center, Time Square, etc.

Not impressed

Location is not very optimal, rooms are pretty small and very "standard" - not worth the price, I would say, even though we all know that NYC is expensive ...

Would stay here again

Clean rooms and friendly staff. Reasonable price for NYC.......room was smaller than average hotel room but that is to be expected in NYC, besides, how much time is really spent in the room. Only complaint is that Facebook was blocked on their wifi.

Quaint Charm

This hotel is a small hotel in Manhattan that is equiped with a business center, continental buffet breakfast, kind staff, and comfortable rooms. The room we stayed in was extremely small, but we went to New York to tour the city, not stay in the room. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. A subway stop is on the same block as the hotel, and there was a delicious Indian Cuisine restaurant across the street.

A great place to stay in New York

The Park South is a small hotel, catering mainly to tourists, many from overseas. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and well maintained. Our room was adequate in size and comfortable. The hotel is very close to the subway and bus routes. It is in a quiet neighbourhood. I will definitely stay there again for my next visit to New York.

Great little find

A nice "boutiquey" hotel in a great location. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Free breakfast is a plus with a nice changeover to dining and music in the evening.

A very nice, comfortable, and friendly hotel in the heart of New York

This is a lovely boutique hotel that is close to everything, with the nicest staff. It’s small with a culturally diverse group of guests. The rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. Small by non-New York standards but very well set up. We had two adults and a child and didn’t feel too crowded. And who goes to New York to stay in a hotel room anyway? The restaurant is nice and has live jazz on weekends. The only objection I had was that they don’t have coffee pots in the rooms and don’t have morning room service. So, if you like you’re coffee first thing in the morning, you have to get dressed and hike downstairs to get a cup. But they do have a nice continental breakfast to make up for it. We got this at a wonderful Expedia special rate that was lower than we’d have found in most major cities. We’ll definitely stay here again!

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

One note of caution...the clerk offered to call a cab to take us back to our airport and we happily accepted. It was a private car, not a cab and was about $20 more than a cab would have been. More comfortable, yes, but if you’re on a budget you’d be better off hailing a cab on the street.

Great place - would go back

Went on the strength of Expedia reviews. Room is not large but that is to be expected in NYC. Was a great location at an awesome value. Good complimentary continental breakfast buffet. Adjacent to great Indian restaurants and subway. Close to Times Square and Empire State bldg.

Traveler's tip on dining

Best Indian food in the City
