Great Hotel for Low Price!
After reading previous reviews of the property I decided to book this hotel due to the low price of the room (as compared to other properties) and the close proximity to a two-day meeting I was to attend. The property was exactly as others described: very (very) small rooms but also clean and comfortable. I chose a private bath. The bathroom was clean and newly updated. The television is tiny and only receives certain chanels but you cannot beat the location. I walked to my meetings in this very safe neighborhood (and very quiet at night)-- getting to Macy’s Herald Square and its surrounding shopping was an easy walk! The only negative was lack of light in the room (although my room was at the back of the hotel so I had a window that looked out to a courtyard) and I was glad to be traveling alone as I couldn’t imagine a second person in the room!

Affordable, clean and convenient
I stayed with a friend at Hotel 31 for three nights. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and the staff even offered, without having to be asked, to let us leave our luggage with them the last day after checking out. I forgot a pair of shoes which they found and saved for my son to pick up. Bathrooms down the hall, but for this price it’s worth it. We even realized we had a view of the Empire State Building from our room. Subway literally a block away. I had no complaints.

good location for city sighseeing
When we arrived we found we had been upgraded to a room with its own bathroom which was great but the room was very tiny and had a bad musty shut-in smell we had to get rid of and we needed to plug our ears to cut out the noise of the airconditioner so we could sleep. However the staff were very helpful and we enjoyed the hotel’s close proximity (easy walking distance) to the city centre.
