Lake Tahoe Delight

From check-in to check -out every aspect of the stay was wonderful. I stayed in the Tower in a one bedroom suit. Everything from a wonderfully equipped kitchen to a very comfortable liviing room and bedroom was most satisfactory. The staff at The Ridge was great especially the housekeeping department. They were there to take care of any of my needs. Having the free bus service between the resort and town was wonderful. I didn’t have to drive at all for the entire length of my stay. One of the most important aspects of my stay was that I was there to do some hiking and having a trail head right on the property that connected to the Tahoe Rim Trail was most excellent. The wine tasting event made for a very enjoyable time as well. This is a first class resort with a first class staff and facilities. I cannot say enough about how much I enjoyed myself during this stay. Thnk you to all the staff and Expedia for offering such a good rate.

A Very Pleasant Surprise.

Three of us shared a one bedroom condo unit. We planned the trip rather hurriedly and selected The Ridge Tahoe online without any type of recommendations from anybody. We were more than pleasantly suprised with our accommodation. We towed a couple of jet skiis with us and were courteously advised that there was no parking at our facility but we were given a parking permit to park our trailer nearby. All personnel were friendly and helpful. We had a delightful visit to Lake Tahoe thanks to The Ridge Tahoe. We will definitely be back.

Bad Experience

There was no air conditioning available in the room. Just swamp cooler and fans. The room was always uncomfortably warm. Housekeeping called at 8:15AM on Saturday morning and woke us up to find out what time we wanted our room cleaned even with a do not disturb sign on the door. There were no toiletries or coffee provided until we asked for them 3 times. And no room service available.

No Gondola

The descriptions said it was ski in/ski out. However, they forgot to mention that the Gondola had been taken down. That meant we had to wait and ride a shuttle to the lifts. Not what I paid for.

Loved the view

The only thing we didn’t like was the Time Share seminar that we were asked to go to. They were very rude and made assumptions that were not correct. We felt like we were dealing the car salesman. I would recommend anyone to say No to this.

Here are some tips for staying here

It is a beauitful location. There is a breeze, which soon becomes a wind by afternoon. Make sure you get a room on the west side. The east side rooms do not get this breeze. Whoever designed this resort, did not put airconditioning in the rooms. There is air in the hallways however, go figure! But, if you open the window, which is very small, and your door to your room on the west side, you will get the most marvelous wind blowing through your room and you will soon cool off. The resort also has a sleep number bed, which we were not told about when we arrived, and if you can figure out what your sleep number is, you will sleep well. Good luck. Overall, I would rate thsi a good place to stay. Plenty of swimming and hot tubs with spectacular views.

Great spot

Loved the location. Thought the lay out of the room was great. Having a washer and dryer right in the room was very handy. Only complaint was from my husband saying the shower head was to low.

Not Impressed

We had a difficult time finding the hotel. There are many hotels on the Mountain that have "The Ridge" as part of their name. When we got there, the view was pretty amazing, and the room was satisfactory in cleanliness and decor. Our problem was the comfort level. There was no air conditioning, and we were on the 8th floor. The room was sweltering in the morning, and we couldn’t wait to get out of it for the day. The bed was also uncomfortable. They did not supply shampoos or conditioners either. When the clerk asked us how our stay was, we told her it was miserably hot in the room. She blamed it on the age of the hotel and said they didn’t need air conditioning back then because global warming hadn’t occured and Tahoe temperatures were much cooler then. Give me a break!

Great place for what we paid!

The hotel has a great view, great room and it’s not too far from the Heavenly Village. My husband and I had a great time celebrating our 1st year anniversary. We had parking issues though that security from the resort was not able to manage correctly. Instead, we were the one they woke up early morning to move our car instead of the people illegally parked.

Recommended as a hotel accomodation or an owner

The hotel stay was very nice. I stayed in a newly renovated room that was nice with a great view; in fact all rooms have a great view as the hotel is perched way on top of a mountain. The only suggestion to teh hotel is to repair teh jets on the hot tubs at the PLAZA

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Drink plenty of water as the hotel is at 7-8,000 feet. Plenty of shuttles to get you around and are very acommodating.

AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This had to be the absolute most romantic place we have ever stayed in!!! The view was breathtaking, service impeccable, beds comfortable. What elses could you ask for, oh yeah another bed and two bathrooms a full kitchen and living room. The view from every room was spetacular in May I wonder how beautiful it will be in December. This was an amazing place, I just wish we could have stayed longer. The staff was friendly and courteous we have nothing bad to say. Did I mention sleep number beds and a wonderful view of Carson Valley on one side and the mountain on the other?????

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Take the drive around the lake it is well worth stopping at Eagle Falls trailhead and climbing down. Vikingsholm is a hike to remember. I love Tahoe!!!

Decent place to stay

The location of the resort and the amenities at the resort are the plus points. The food and service at the deli are not up to the mark. I felt the check out time (10:00 a.m.) was early. It would have been more convenient, if the check out time was 11:00 a.m. I don’t think we would have stayed at this resort, at the regular rates.

Great Location

We enjoyed our stay at the Ridge. Our family of 5 had fun with the activities at the resort club house. We were able to ski in/ski out with the private Gondola to the stagecoach lodge and it was convenient to stop back for snacks and warmer clothes if the mountain was too cool. Kids enjoyed Heavenly Ski Resort, we enjoyed the casinos (about a 5 to 10 minute drive) from the ridge. We will go back!

Would Recommend

The room was very clean and nicely decorated. The staff was very helpful and went out of their way to help us out. The pool was nice and it was great that the gondola to the lifts was just a few feet from our room. I would recommend this hotel and look forward to going back next year.

Try to stay in the Tower. It’s right across the street from the main office where the pool, sauna, and store are located.

Isolated, but enjoyable

The Ridge is located at the top of the mountain. There are only a couple of places to eat nearby. That was a disappointment. The gondola is clse by and easy to access, as are the buses to the ski area. The unit we stayed in was nice and clean, but the thermostat to control the temperature was located on the other side of the unit. We were at the mercy of the people staying next dor to regulate the heat. That was NOT good. The front desk offered to send a maintenance man to adjust the heat when needed, But who wants to do that all the time? There is limited underground parking, so you could be doing some shoveling. The skiing was excellent; that’s why we went. Not sure that I would stay there again for the price. Not much to do there beside ski.

Traveler's tip on dining

Bring food and store it in your refrigerator. There is not a kitchenette in all units oor even a microwave.

Worn Out

After 30 minute wait in line we were put in a 1st floor unit, no view due to snow drifts, in fact the windows/doors were completely covered. We were then moved to a 5th floor room but still had no view due to the embankment to the street. Fireplace, range,TV remote, and Dishwasher were all broken. Sofa was worn out and not usable as a seat. For the price, there has to be nicer places in Tahoe.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Demand a room with a view. It is close to the lift and with a little TLC could be nice again.

I am looking forward to going back

There are a lot of things to do there. I t is like its own private community. The room was very nice and I was very impressed. I live in Tahoe and have seen alot of hotels up here, this is one of the nicer ones. I would definitely recommend getting one of there suites.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

indoor and outdoor swimming pools, sauna, skiing. They have there own store and lounge with happy hour from 4:00 to 6:00pm. They also have a veriety of misc. activities. Enjoy

Need to be updated!

This was our second stay at this resort, enjoyed it the first time years ago and wanted to go back. But it was a big mistake. They tried to put us in a smaller room than we booked and had to ask to be put into the correct room. The place is very dated now, worn rugs, chipped enamel, old fake gold fixtures, sagging mattress.

would go back

We stayed 3 nights in a 1 bedroom condo unit located in "The Towers" building on the tenth floor. The unit was very clean and decorated very nicely--upscale. We had a corner unit that had great views of the mountains as well as Lake Tahoe in the distance. Rooms on lower floors or in other buildings would not have the same great view. Possibly even rooms on the same floor but not a corner unit would not have the view of Lake Tahoe, but mountain views would still be good. Service was friendly and excellent. No complaints. Would definitely go back if we could get same corner unit or similar.

A very scenic place

The Ridge was as the name states, located nearly on the very top of the ridge. We had good views of part of Lake Tahoe. The hotel was very nice with a number of things to keep one occupied.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Be sure to take a boat tour of Lake Tahoe. We took one on the Safari Rose and it was wonderful. The captain pointed out historical points of interest, the history of the area and geology, etc.

Never AGAIN!!!

Check in at 4PM and check out at 10AM the next day... Unreasonable!! NO AC in any of the rooms and the window opened 6". The ceiling fan chain broke and we had to use a portable fan. Stuffy warm air throughout. Other guests left their front doors open for air circulation. Go somewhere else!!!

Nice room but staff is complacent

The hotel is very nice with spacious rooms. I was a little shocked at the staff and their treatment of me and my guest. We checked in and drove down to the Cascade wing to find someone was already booked into our room. When I called the desk they stated that I should be in a different room. The keys didn’ work in either room and when informed of that we were asked to come back up to the front desk. This was after unloading all of our luggage (with a bad back) which had to be put back in the car. New keys were issued and when I gave the manager an opportunity to make up for the inconvenience, she approached the situation with disgust even after acknowledging they hotel messed up and should have done differently.
