What to expect: This condominium complex is situated on the slopes of Mt. Werner in Storm Meadows amid other condos, townhouses, and vacation homes overlooking Ski Time Square. Location and amenities draw small families as well as couples looking for a romantic getaway.

Amenity highlights: Guests ski or snowboard to the mountain base area via an access trail that winds alongside the property. Guests also have access (during limited hours) to a complimentary shuttle that stops every 20 minutes outside each building (winter only). In the evening, the shuttle offers grocery store and downtown service. A centrally located recreation facility features an outdoor heated pool, spa tub, sundeck, tennis courts, and fitness room.

The complex does not have its own restaurant, but there are several dining options within the surrounding area.

On-site amenities include an exercise room, sauna, spa tub, ski lockers, year-round outdoor heated lap pool, and an outdoor tennis court (open in summer).

A variety of seasonal recreational opportunities are available to guests. Winter activities include downhill and cross-country skiing; night-time ski jumping and snow tubing; snowmobile tours, ice climbing, sleigh rides, dog sledding, shoe shoeing, ice fishing, bi-plane rides and glider rides, and mineral hot baths.

Located three miles away in downtown Steamboat Springs, Steamboat Health and Recreation offers a hot springs facility, lap pool, water slide, exercise room, massage therapy, fitness classes, and more (daily memberships available).

Also downtown, Howelson Hill Recreation Area features alpine skiing along with 20- to 90-meter jumps; an ice rink, snow rafting, and (during summer) an alpine slide. The facility is located on the south side of the Yampa River, alongside which a paved hiking and biking trail runs from Old Town to the mountain village.

Summer activities include golf at four area courses; hiking, rock climbing, tennis, four-wheel-drive tours, photography tours, hot-air balloon rides, fishing, miniature golf, horseback riding, kayaking, biking, river rafting, llama treks, gondola rides, guided nature walks, mineral hot baths, and cattle drives.

The property is located halfway up 10,568-foot Mt. Werner in Storm Meadows, a secluded residential area overlooking Ski Time Square. There is a 3,668-foot vertical drop and 2,939 skiable acres with 142 trails: 13 percent beginner, 56 percent intermediate, and 31 percent advanced. These are accessible by 25 lifts, including a gondola and four high-speed quads.

The average snowfall is 337 inches (in January, an average of 95 inches is champagne powder) thanks to the property's location on the windward side of the Park Range, right before the Continental Divide.
