Quiet, Away from Noisy City

We were very pleased with room, staff and info on taking Metro into Amsterdam. One drawbeck we thought breakfast was included with room, it was not. Was charged $13.50 each for breakfast for three days. I do not eat a big breakfast so thought this was a real rip-off. The room rate was lower than downtown.

If you stay here be prepared to walk to Metro. It is not a place for walkers or wheelchairs. If you rent a car, this place is ideal.

Great Hotel for the $$

Very happy with my stay there. The hotel was clean, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The hotel was nicely away from the busy city center and only a short walk from tram 17. The tram was easy to figure out and 72hr pass was only 15 euros. From Airport take the train to Lelyllan(3.40 euros)(make sure it will stop at Lelyllan - ours was an express and went straight to center station) pick up GVB tram pass at Lelyllan and then take tram 17 and get off at Hoekenes. Short walk to hotel.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Go to see the Stolen Windmill. A personal tour was offered to explain how they work very interesting...Take Tram 2 to the end of the line Towards Stolen. Then a short walk. Best exchange rate is debit or getting cash directly from the bank atm’s.

Tulip Inn Amsterdam City West: Nice Stay for the Price

My daughter and I stayed here for 4 days on our way back from Nairobi. The hotel is easily accessible from the airport, take the bus, it drops you off about .5mi away. The hotel staff were all great, extremely comfortable beds! I noticed our maid did not wipe down our tables a couple of nights, but the overall cleanliness of the hotel made up for that. The hotel staff were excellent about giving tips for travelling around the city, even provided tram and bus map. Buy the 2-3 day pass, its cheaper, and the transportation is easily accessible. The closest tram stop was a brisk 10-12 minute walk, maybe .5 a mile or so, but very safe neighborhood! The hotel is about 12 tram stops away from the city center. There is a small grocery store around the corner on the way to the tram,"Spar" we bought bread rolls, cheese and sliced cold cuts and ate for around 2Euros each and it kept our costs down. Watch your belongings, my daughter almost got mugged on the tram stop, but was quick to keep her items on her.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

buy some fresh groceries at the Spar around the corner, it is less expensive than eating out, and we got to eat what we wanted. Also, take your own grocery bag that is cloth/reusable, it will help carry your groceries and your souvenirs.
