What to expect: Colony Cove Beach Resort is part of a strip of condominium resorts. It has no lobby or public spaces but consists entirely of lodging buildings, tennis courts, a pool, and a lunch/dinner restaurant. Guests check in at a counter in front of a small office structure and take their own luggage to suites. Families favor the resort for tranquility, beach access, and cooking convenience. |
Amenity highlights: Bordered by a rocky shore, a sand sunbathing terrace extends the width of the resort. A 42-foot freeform pool is surrounded by a sundeck with lounge chairs, umbrella tables, and two barbecue grills—one gas and the other charcoal. A calm-water beach abuts the resort, and guests enjoy complimentary use of snorkeling gear.
Insider tip: Budding botanists should look for signs identifying the tropical plants around the buildings.

Colony Cove Beach Resort offers 60 two-bedroom, two-bathroom suites that are rented out in condominium owners' absences. Suites are in four three-story, pale-peach buildings (no elevators). Balconies or ground-floor terraces furnished with lounge chairs and dining sets face the gardens or Caribbean Sea. (Sea view not guaranteed.)
Fully equipped kitchens include four-burner ranges, microwave ovens, full-size refrigerators, dishwashers, blenders, and toasters. Suites also include washer/dryers. While suites are decorated according to owners' tastes, all living/dining rooms have cushioned seating, four-chair dining sets, and TVs with VCRs or DVD player/VCR combinations. Bedrooms include both ceiling fans and air conditioners. Living/dining rooms have ceiling fans only. Housekeeping is available on request.

Colony Cove offers a 42-foot freeform pool with a sundeck. A 300-yard beach washed by calm Caribbean waters adjoins the resort.
Complimentary snorkeling gear is available at the resort's office. On request, complimentary kayaks will be delivered to guests by a nearby partner resort. Use of two lighted tennis courts is complimentary.
Boat trips to Buck Island Reef National Monument, which features an underwater snorkeling trail, depart from Christiansted, one mile east of the resort. Dive centers in Christiansted offer scuba excursions. Kayak tours of Salt River Bay National Park & Ecological Preserve, seven miles away, are another popular pastime.
