Great value
My wife and I stayed there for a week and found the property very much as advertised. The room size was quite decent by European standards and kept clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was more than ample. The only minor downside was we found the neighborhood noisy some evenings. Not unsafe but lots of traffic quite close to the hotel. Being so near to the train station I guess this is to be expected. But the upside was being so close to Termini means many convenient transit options are available. Considering the price and the other qualities I would gladly recommend the Piemonte to others looking in that neighborhood. A great value.

Good value for the price
The room was quite small and not so up to date when it comes to the furniture and fixtures - the beds are small and so is the shower. So dont expect anything fancy here. But the housekeeper did a good job and the room was always clean when we got back from our daily trips. The location is excellent for those who want to discover the city of their own. Just outside the Termini terminal - yet located in a small and quiet street and off the station hassle. The staff was quite friendly on the whole, although they had no idea that theres a cheap shuttle bus to the airport just outside the station. It leaves every hour and weve found out that its a better option then the train. The free wireless internet is a very nice bonus - just beware of the phone charges which are outrageous and they charged us even though we used a phone card to make the calls. They claimed "not all phone cards are the same" - so its best to check with them first.

look around for a better place to stay
The hotel is older, and the room I stayed in was like a college dorm, cramped and in this case, airless. The hotel staff did little to make me feel welcome. I did appreciate the proximity to the Termini Station for making the transfer from the airport to Rome, but other than that, there is nothing to recommend this hotel. As a solo traveller on my first trip abroad, I would have appreciated a friendly, informative staff. Instead, despite the fact that I made a reservation weeks ahead of my trip, I felt as if I were placed in the last available room, a closet. Rome is a fabulous city with so much to offer. Dont stay in this hotel. It doesnt represent this city in any desirable way.
October is lovely because there are fewer tourists and the weather is warm. Try several websites to find hotel reviews, and compare before booking. What looks inexpensive may turn out to be unsuitable. Take a guided tour when visiting the Vatican, and use the open double decker buses to get an overview of the city. The famous piazzas , like Navona and di Spagna (the Spanish steps), and the Trevi fountain and the Pantheon can easily be found by walking around the historic center. Eat as much gelati as possible. Learn a little Italian before you go. Dont worry if you dont get it all right the first time. Youll want to return.
