Very, very nice hotel

The Villa La Estencia was a superb hotel, and the hotel staff was absolutely outstanding. No request went unanswered. The location is within convenient walking distance of Cabsos San Lucas, the Mexican resort town with many great restaurants and shops. Two minor issues precluded us from giving the hotel a five star rating. The first was low water pressure in the shower, water dribbled from the shower head and maintenance could not make it srtonger. The other issue was when it rained, the exit road from the hotel is a natural river/steam with water flowing several inches deep and you must wade thru it or take a cab to get to town. The hotel staff even requested that if we went into town, to let them know prior to leaving. Our visit was during tropical storm Rick, thus the cirucmstances were unusual. We wouldn’t hesitate to go back, but not during hurricane season.

Avoid hurricane season (Sep-Oct).

Best Vacation Ever

Stayed here for our 20th Anniv. August 8-15. Gorgeous property; great location, across the bay from the Arch and Lovers Beach, awesome view, even at night. Very elegant but not stuffy. Friendly & helpful staff. Advantages to staying here as compared to other "hotels"; Estancia is private residences rented by the owner so grounds are for exclusive use of guests. Never felt crowded and was quiet and peaceful at night. Part of the Villa group of 3 properties so you had a choice of pools and restaurants (they are all wonderful-try the Pizza at the Palmar). One night while we were having dinner at the Palmar a Turtle came up the beach to lay her eggs, truly a once in a lifetime experience. Don’t be afraid to attend their Ownership Tour, Luis was a doll and we had a great conversation. They are not pushy and it was well worth it for the "gold card" which saves you a ton of money on excursions and meals. I highly recommend the Snorkel Trip to Cabo Pulmo, about 2 hours north of Cabo on the Sea of Cortez, beautiful! Went fishing and saw hundreds of Porpoises and jumping fish; the sea is full of life here. Beach was very nice and clean, beautiful torquise water. Pool was great and never crowded, nice swim up bar with the best hamburger I have ever had. We absolutely loved Cabo. Nice town, very clean and safe. It was hot, but worth it to go this time of year if you can stand the heat; not crowded. I really can’t wait to go back.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Carry lots of $1 & $5 for the taxi back and forth to town which is $7. They never seem to have change and it gets frustrating after a while.

Nice hotel

The maintenance workers and housekeeping were in the elevators due to the service elevators being out. This made waits on the elevator too long.

Wonderful Place to Stay

This hotel meet all of our expectations, would stay there again. While the ground floor was nice, the view would have been better in upper floors. Hotel & pool was fairly quiet, with very few children. Pool restaurant was good, steak restaurant not so good, and over priced.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Plan to pay $7.00 cab fare each way to town & the marina. You can walk down the beach, sand is deep and hard to walk own, and you have to fight off vendors. Tabasco’s close by on the beach is a good place to eat & drink.

Lovely property, Very nice rooms, Relaxing atmosphere

We loved this place. It is very nice, clean, well maintained. The staff were very accomodating and anxious to get you what you need. Grounds were immaculate. Rooms were lovely. Beach was nice. My only complaint about the place was that the 1 mile walk to town was a little longer than I would like. Otherwise, this is a place for a very relaxing vacation. There is no ball playing around the pool, no loud music allowed, no organized activities. This is a place to sit in a lounger on the beach or by the pool, order cold drinks, read a book, take a name, go in for a dip, and just unwind. No party atmosphere here. We did not try the food on property as there are so many options in town. I is a $7-8 cab ride into town. Highly recommend this place.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Take the hour or two "ownership" presentation. You will get 15% off your food and bar bill for the week, 30-50% off tours, and other perks, plus a free bfast. It is very low pressure and if you don’t go over to the neighboring property for the time share piece, you will be done in about an hour and a half, including the leisurely bfast. You might be able to negociate for addtional perks but we didn’t. Down the beach you can get cash for doing time share presentations.

Second time there

My husband and I returned to Villa la Estancia, b/c we loved our stay the first time we went. Our stay this time was wonderful as well. We love the atmosphere (tranquil), food (market also on grounds), pool, pleasant staff, and close location to town (approx. 15min walk). Los Cabo is a wonderful, relaxing vacation spot and for our next visit we will be staying at La Estancia once again.

Great place to stay

Hotel was great! Very nice room with view of the ocean. Was not crowded at all at the end of 9/09. Service was good, grounds very well kept. We did take the tour of the time share model of which the sale pressure was not high. Actually, it was informative and we were taken to breakfast. It lasted about a hour. In addition, we got some great discounts on activities were were going to do anyway. The hotel was quieter with less children than the 2 ajoining properties which were part of the same hotel complex. That’s what we were looking for, so it turned out great for us. Would stay again

This is the place.

If you are looking for paradise, this is the place. Our room had a spectacular view of the pool right below us and the sea of Cortez about 75 yards away. You can here the ocean at night from your room and down town is a 20 minute walk on the beach. This place might seem a little pricy, but it’s worth every penny. The rooms are huge with a full kitchen and living room. The master bedroom and bath is as big as the kitchen and livingroom combined.

Absolute perfection

This hotel was chosen because the reviews mentioned that it was quiet and peaceful. It turned out to be just that and more. The service was amazing, rooms and premises immaculate and the pool was sparkling. We walked nextdoor for breakfast buffet, had the tour coordinator arrange things for us and enjoyed "Dirty Monkey" cocktails at the pool. Extremely recommend this hotel!

Traveler's tip on nightlife

If you don’t want wild and raunchy bars to visit, try the new Mandala club. The music was good and the facility was so nice. We stayed 2 hours and we don’t even dance. We also enjoyed relaxing with a cocktail on the rooftop of Fumari Hookah Bar.

Loved It

We took a long time to pick out hotel in Cabo, right location, price, food, comfort, etc. This was perfect for all. Not too far from town, on the beach, great rooms, the pool staff was amazing, decent food, and the little grocery store. It was perfect. We will go back.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Although the food at hotel is great, the local restaurants on the way to town are even better. Get out and try them.

clean , comfortable, quiet with an amazing view! Upscale all the way!

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Go deep sea fishing and whatever you catch you can have it prepared at one of the marina restaurants. It will be the best meal you’ll have in Cabo!

Restaurants are great, but Not for the guest room

Restaurants are great. nice dishes, cool atmosphere, but the room we stayed in was poorly managed. no hair dryer, no wine opener, no wine glasses, no chairs, no table, only one trash box in the bathroom not in living room. we called front desk few times, no answer or waited long time to be picked up.

absolutely wonderful

This hotel was absolutely beautiful. We had a 2 room suite that was gorgeous. We can’t say enough about how wonderful, courteous and helpful the staff was. We can’t wait to go back. The location for our family was the best, close to the marina and downtown night life.

Traveler's tip on dining

Down the beach from the hotel was a wonderful .resturant called the Office. During the day you could enjoy the wild and fun beach but at night it was so romantic and the entertainment was delightful. The food was fabulous. Our favorite place there.

Can’t wait to go back

We loved the location of Villa La Estancia. It had everything we wanted right there. Beach, pool, spa, restaurants, store, deli. We also liked the close proximity to town and golf courses. The staff were very friendly, especially the concierge staff. They went above and beyond and wowed us on several occasions. We will definitely return to Cabo and stay at Villa La Estancia!

Pampered in Paradise

This was our first time splurging on this type of luxury condo resort. La Estancia was amazing. The staff was attentive, helpful with local info, and of course the accomodations were fantastic. Beautiful beige marble and Mexican tile everywhere, and very spacious. The grounds were beautiful and the view of the water spectacular. I appreciated the quiet atmosphere of this complex compared to their sister facility, Villa Palmar next door, which was quite noisy with Spring Breakers. Hubby loved the fitness center which put our hometown gym to shame. Poolside service from the grill was great, the Villa’s location very close to downtown and the marina, and the beach was one of the most popular in the area. We will be back!

Traveler's tip on dining

Mi Casa is a great place with authentic Mexican food, and colorful traditional decor, all in semi open air. Our favorite dining spot in town!

Generally very nice, but NOT a hotel

Really enjoyed our stay here, but the arrival and check-in were a bit of a surprise. There is no front desk, so you just wait until somebody grabs you and sits you down. They made all sorts of pre-auth charges against my credit card that ended up blocking my card for part of my stay in Mexico, and they did not remove them even after we switched cards. Once we got past the initial hassle, however, the room and grounds were beautiful. I liked that the pools were not heated - they were very comfortable, although they could use some cleaning in some corners of the pool. The on-site market was a lifesaver and had a very extensive supply. We used the ice from there in a drink and did not get sick. The stench at night can be pretty overpowering. You don’t notice it during the day. One night it was VERY bad. They really need to do something about that. Other than the night stench and the check-in process, this resort is hard to beat.

Traveler's tip on dining

Mi casa was fantastic as always. You must go there and you must try the fruit margaritas (they’re HUGE and delicious). La Parilla (or room service) at the Estancia have fantastic nachos and quesadillas!

Absolutely can’t wait to go back!

We were upgraded for no apparent reason and with no pressure to buy a time share which was so wonderful. The chairs on the beach were uncomfortable and some broken so you couldn’t lay flat and it was difficult to get service on the beach but overall, that was a minor inconvenience. The hotel staff was polite, helpful and very attentive.

beautiful but got no sleep

everything was great EXCEPT that it was very noisy at night due to kids partying late at night and making lots of noise (the hotel did nothing about it), AND, our neighbors had a screaming like crazy- mental breakdown- all night long (during our last night) and 5 security guards were called to take them away. The hotel did nothing to accommodate us. All was great except it was nearly impossible to sleep!!I feel bad for people who spend a lot of money to buy a piece of the place as owners!

Would definitley go back and recommend Villa la Estancia to others!

Comfortable amenities...including the mattress! Helpful friendly staff. Great swim up pool bar. Large pool area, multiple hot tubs...lots of room! Restaurants on all three Villa Properties (Villa la Estancia is connected to Villa del Palmar and Villa del Arco). Beach access. Close to other resorts. Approx 30 minute walk to downtown/marina area via the beach. Villa del Palmar is very family friendly...kids activities, etc that can be used by guests of Estancia and del Arco. Estancia and del Arco (while still family friendly) are quieter/more relaxing.
