Williamsburg Woodlands Hotel & Suites

AN OFFICIAL COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG HOTELPrefer to go back in time, and back to nature, too? Then the Woodlands Hotel & Suites, our newest hotel, is just the place. Nestled on the edge of a secluded pine grove, this moderately priced, official, onsite Colonial Williamsburg hotel is a family haven. And no other similarly-priced Williamsburg hotel is as conveniently located -- the Woodlands Hotel & Suites is right at the starting point of the 18th-century, at the Visitor Center for Colonial Williamsburg. You can follow the Nature Trail to the Historic Area, or just hop on a shuttle. The Bridge to the Past and recreational facilities at the Woodlands Hotel & Suites make it a great vacation destination for any family. The kids can enjoy the pool, and all can relax among the deep shade and gentle silence of the pines, miles apart and 200 years away from the cares of daily life. A daily continental breakfast buffet is included in the room rate and for additional dining, Huzzah! is next door to the Woodlands and serves up all-American favorites. Groups also enjoy the value and location of the Woodlands Hotel & Suites. Conveniently located on the same grounds is the Woodlands Conference Center with 13,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space. From Interstate 64, take exit 238 onto Route 143 East. Follow Route 143 to the second traffic light and bear right onto Route 132. Continue on Route 132 following signs to the Visitor Center. At second left, turn onto concrete aggregate road, Route 132Y. Turn at the first left; the Woodlands Hotel & Suites is at the top of the hill.

Would stay again
Our family stayed at the Woodlands for 2 nights and would definately stay again. The rooms were comfortable, the pool large and the visitor center to Williamsburg is right across the parking lot. Very convienent to Williamsburg and in a beautiful wooded area.

Family Friendly
We visited Colonial Williamsburg and decided to stay at the Woodlands for its convenient location. I can highly recommend it. We got a 2 room suite, well worth it for travelling with our 8 and 11 year olds. They had the sofa bed, which was fine for them, plus their own tv. The king size bed in our room was fine, not 5 star linens, but not saggy in the middle as mentioned in other reviews. The only minor problem was the air conditioner is a wall unit that keeps the bedroom cool, the living area not so cool. The continental breakfast was fine, busy because of spring break, but staff was restocking and tidying up when we were there. Id stay away from the waffle maker and toaster, that is the only place there were lines. The best part of the hotel was having breakfast at hand and being able to walk over to the visitor center and pick up our tickets, maps, go to the gift shop and then walk on the pathway to the colonial area. We also used the free buses from the visitors center to go to Colonial Williamsburg. We did go out to eat up Hwy 60 and saw a ton of chain hotels, but I felt very connected to the colonial area and it added to the experience. The hotel grounds are nicely landscaped and there is a nice playground, tetherball, mini-golf, table tennis area in a shaded area behind the fitness center, that was a hit with the kids.
Traveler's tip on dining
If you want to eat at a Colonial Williamsburg tavern, make your reservations in advance before your trip, they were totally booked. Same for evening activities like the ghost tour, totally booked. The palace gardens with a maze were a big hit, as was the carriage ride.
