Great price - good location if you like midtown
Nice place with a professional atmosphere. The room was tiny but had everything i needed. The carpet in the room was dirty but the room overall was clean and had excellent bedding. The bathroom was the nicest part of the room- it was large, clean and elegant. The TV was behind a two way mirror - which made it very difficult to watch and caused more aggravation than entertainment. Overall for the price a great bargain a few tiny tweaks would make it a stellar value.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Very nice place for the price, not much more money than a best western chain type of a hotel.Much nicer.

Perfect for our trip.
We received a ee upgrade to the Queen size room - it was relatively small-ish, but as we were looking for a clean room with a bed, its more than we couldve asked for. Its location is a short walk to about anywhere youd want to go, and a subway is about two blocks away as well. GREAT location, great staff, great room. Tried the bistro and wasnt a fan. The hallways and the room was *extremely* dark at night, but we loved that.

Small Boutique Hotel in a good location to see any part of the city
The hotel was good- we had a king luxe room and the space was good for the two of us. Our biggest complaint was the lighting was very poor in the rooms. We were located at the back of the building looking out at a brick wall. The staff was very accomadating on anything that we needed during our stay.
Traveler's tip on dining
Had dinner in the hotel Restaurant DB Bistro Moderne and it was very good. There are also several small restaurants on the same street that are excellent and if you are hungry for breakfast you have to try the Red Flame Coffee Shop.

Excellent hotel, great price
I couldnt be happier with this hotel. With the given of NYC + midtown = tiny, this hotel makes the most out of every inch. You feel like you are in a luxury hotel: down comforters & pillows; large, soft towels & robes; chocolate chip cookies with turn-down service. I highly recommend it: the quality and the location could not be better.

Hidden Jewel, But Noisy at Night
You cannot beat the central location, the Michelin rated restaurant with an affordable pre-theater fixed priced menu, but because it is a boutique hotel you will hear noise from the corridor late at night, especially the clanging of the doors closing to the guest rooms and the chatter in the corridor. Not recommended for light sleepers.
Traveler's tip on dining
DB Bistro in the lobby offers affordable pre-theater fixed priced menu and the hotel concierge booked us a table for two with only several hours notice, exceptional for a popular NYC restaurant.

Great room without a view
First, there was a brick wall outside my window, but it didnt really matter. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom was a good size and looked very modern. The tv behind the mirror is a clever way to create more space. The guest services and front desk personnel were very professional and courteous and attentive. The location is perfect for theatre goers and yet quiet because it is not right on Times Square. I had a great experience. Just dont expect a view.

Great for Families!
We loved this hotel. The staff was great and my children loved to stop at the front desk to chat with them. Unlike many urban hotels, the City Club can accomodate a family of 5 with two doubles and a built-in day bed for our third child. Even full scale resorts we have tried to stay in require two rooms for a family of 5. The rooms are clean, the bathrooms modern and well appointed, the cookies are great and the location was perfect for shopping and shows. We will definitely return.
If you want to go to Serendipity make reservations 2-3 weeks in advance. We had no idea and had to skip this. There is a food court at Rockefeller Center that has nice resturants. The food was reasonable but refills on soda added up to a significant portion of our bill. Surprise! Les Halles on Park Avenue was laid back but the food was fabulous. We would definitely eat there again.

Excellent for the $$$
The service was excellent and the room was clean, comfortable and quite. The decor was chic and stylish without trying too hard to be cool. I also ate at the on-site restaurant (Bistro Modern??) It was excellent as well. Great location, great service and great value!

Very Nice Hotel
The reason I chose the City Club was that it was convenient to the New York Public Library. Also for the location and New York City the rate was reasonable. The staff was very nice and helpful. I was even allowed to check in at 8:00 AM; which allowed me to get up to Columbia University by 9:00 AM. However I have two issues: 1. the temperature in the room was extremely uncomfortable. I had constantly had to change the thermostat from cool to off to heat in order try to make the room comfortable. I am not sure what could be done to fix the problem. Even in the early mornings when the outside temperature was in the low sixties it was still extremely hot in the room. My second issue was that I essentially had no windows. Without my radio (the hotels radio did not work) I could not tell if it was sunny or raining outside. Overall I liked the people who worked at the hotel and the room other than the issues I raised was very nice.
Traveler's tip on nightlife
If you are interested in Broadway shows and the glitz of 5th Avenue this is a great place to stay.

Comfortable and Convenient
This hotel was extremely well kept and housed an exceptional staff. It is conveniently located two blocks from Times Square and was located just across the street from what we found to be the most reasonably priced parking garage. Our room was upgraded from a Petite to a Queen Suite at no charge so that was a plus and the cookies brought to us in the evening were just the icing on the cake. All in all a really nice place to stay if you are ever in NY. We will be returning.

a gem in midtown
Our 3 nights at City Club were great! Upgraded us at no charge. The rooms were clean, simple, yet elegant. Dont need excess, but we did miss not having coffee to make in the room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Excellent location. Quiet. Cant wait to get back there!

Great service, ideal location
If you are looking to stay in midtown and want the intimacy of a small hotel City Club is for you. Within easy 2 block walk of central station or Bryant Park and 3-4 blocks to theaters with none of the Vegas feel (or noise) of Times Square. Service was great we even got hot coffee at 6:00 AM the day of our departure despite the usual 7:00 start of room service. Room was small and dark (we looked out on a wall) but weve never had any other view in NYC. Once we moved the table into the bathroom for our toiletries the room was fine for 2 (although we do suggest a mirror in the main room). Computer in the second floor atrium was INVALUABLE! Will definitely return.

Friendly, intimate hotel in the middle of Manhatten
Hotel is in a wonderful location; staff is very helpful and friendly. Its all a bit dark but modern, clean and attractive. The room lighting could have been better for reading.

Elegant and clean
This hotel was really nice. They automatically upgraded us to a room with a King bed instead of a Queen. The employees were all very pleasant and willing to please. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom was really modern, probably the nicest I have ever experienced. I had forgotten a brush, so I asked the front desk if they had anything and they came right up with a comb and some hairspray. The location is great, really close to times square. I have nothing bad to say about this hotel! It is definately the best NYC hotel that I have ever stayed in!

With Just a Little More Forethought
The room though small was exceptionally clean and the bed extremely comfortable. However, there were two of us and only one chair in the room. When we orders breakfast via room service we did identify it was for two people. A second chair (even a folding one) would have been great and removed the need for one of us to picnic on that comfy bed. In addition tea was served in a carafe that smelled (and looked) heavily of coffee. Neither of these points would keep me from staying there again in the near future.

Well-located midtown gem
A peaceful respite in midtown, easy walking distance to everything but quiet enough for a good nights sleep. Very chic and stylish, sometimes to the point of silliness: elevator and halls so "atmospheric" you cant read the numbers for floors or doors...TV so cleverly concealed you need instructions to activate it...a closet so inconspicuous you really have to search -- but are rewarded with a very well-equipped minibar when you find it...beautiful dark marble bathroom without enough task light to put on makeup. But yes, Id stay again -- now that I know the deal!

Great location and friendly place to stay in New York.
The City Club was a great small boutique hotel. The location was great. I cant say anything bad about the hotel other than that the rooms are very small. They are very nicely decorated and made up for the size by sending two big chocolate chip cookies warm to our room every night. The staff couldnt have been nicer. I would definately go back to this hotel. I would also add that this is not a hotel for kids, adult friendly only. There would not have been rnough room to have kids in the room.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
We were withon walking distance of the theaters, Times Square, Rockafella Center Radio City Music Hall and so much more. The walking was great exercise and helped because we were eating much later than usual.

Great staff/great location
Loved the location. Staff was kind and helpful. Very quiet comfortable room. No view though, (you are in the middle of the city).

Nice, but smaller than a NY city closet
The rooms are clean and modern, but the size is unbelievably small. And I supposedly had the "Queen Upgrade." I literally touched one wall with my foot, and the opposite wall with my hand. The desk was a joke. My 3 year old has a bigger desk for painting. The staff is great though...but really, claustrophobia will start kicking in after about 5 minutes.

Pleasing Rooms and Friendly Staff
We stayed for three nights in March while on a business trip. The room was very pleasantly decorated, a cut above most. The bath was luxurious. The location is great. The staff was very friendly. This was one of our more pleasing stays in New York.
Traveler's tip on dining
There is a terrific "diner" a couple of doors down if you want an alternative to high cost dining and just get a full breakfast or quick burger.
