Finally found the perfect place in Mexico

We have been traveling to Mexico since our honeymoon in 1976. We have stayed in Cancun, Riveria Maya, Cabo San Lucas, Acapulco, and Puerto Vallarta, each many times, and finally found the perfect place in Puerto Vallarta at Dreams Resort and Spa. It’s much smaller then the new complexes that have been opening all over Mexico, and therefore more personalized attention. The food was the best we ever had in Mexico! The only thing we were disappointed in was there was no place to dance after dinner at the hotel. But this will not stop us from making this our place for all future vacations!

Best food ever in Mexico

Extremely Satisfied!! Definately will Return!!

My lovely lady and myself had a wonderful time. The staff is extremely great and the resort is outstanding. We travel at least 4 times a year and this has to be the best vacation and hotel/resort we have ever stayed at. The resort has everything you need, the food is outstanding, the staff goes above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and worry free. From the time you arrive they to the time you leave they treat you like royalty. We went downtown a couple times but after a few hours of shopping and enjoying the downtown scene we where ready to go back to the resort. I recommend to wake up early and enjoy the sunrise. It is a beautiful and breath taking scene. The alcoholic-drinks are magnificent. They are strong and potent just the way I enjoy them. Make sure you stay at least a week to enjoy all the resort has to offer and Puerto Vallarta. I am so pleased with the resort that we are making plans to go back in April. FYI make sure to tip your waiters well. I saw too many people not tip the staff..Don’t be cheap!!!

Stay away from the TIME SHARE people. And take the bus its easy cheap and fun.

The best all inclusive I have vacationed at

This place is unreal. We stayed in the preferred tower and I would highly recommend it. It was beautiful, the room was spacious, we had a jacuzzi on our balcony. The beach was clean and warm enough to enjoy. The FOOD IS AMAZING!!!! Eat at Portafino and The Seaside grill, DELICIOUS! We went off shore fishing and caught a Mahi Mahi, the hotel cooked it for us that night. Awesome service!! It was my birthday and they decorated our room with balloons and streamers! The drinks are very strong and the alcohol is premium. This is one of, if not the best all inclusive I have visited (I’ve been to 10+).

Taxi from the airport is about 20-25 dollars, on the way back 150 pesos (about $15), you don’t need to get a shuttle.

Awesome Hotel in Puerto Vallarta, Planning next trip

I’ve been to Puerto Vallarta 5 times and am a bit of an expert. I’ve stayed at hotels 3-5 stars. I truly enjoy everything about Dreams. Customer service was excellent, food extremely good (like I’ve said other inclusives offer free food but wouldn’t call it good). The mini coronas in the room were the icing on the cake. The pools were smaller than other hotels but you got to know the other guests and feels less cold than some of the bigger places. Room service was great, kids club was great. We went in October and got to release the baby turtles. Awesome. $5 taxi ride to downtown. I’m not a review writter I just wanted others to know what a find this place is.

October is turtle time!!

Going back in May!

The hotel was very nice, food was good and the drinks were strong. My son was married there and they did a good job of accomodating their needs. There was a breach of security however in their room on the night of the wedding that I dont feel was properly compensated for which is why when we go back, we will stay at another hotel.

Wow!

I can’t imagine a better place to stay in PV. Great beach, great service, good food, no dinner reservations, great rooms. We stayed in the preferred tower which seemed to be much nicer than the old one. If I was the kind of person who made repeat vacations, I would definitely return.

Do take a hundred or so one dollar bills for tipping. The staff greatly appreciate it and your service is even better.

Didn’t want to leave

We visited the Dreams Puerto Vallarta Resort and Spa for 5 days. It was unusually rainy during our stay, but that didn’t matter. We had a great time! The food, drinks, rooms, and service were amazing. The beach and resort areas were clean and beautiful and made for great pictures. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic Honeymooner’s Getaway

Super awesome everything. We recommend the preferred tower. There was a bar in the lobby and a special area on the beach for this tower. We couldn’t find one piece of food that wasn’t amazing. All of the staff was nice and helpful and always waiting to serve you. The jr. jacuzzi suite was perfect for us. All of the rooms face the ocean. Our’s was on the 10th floor and sitting on the balcony or in the jacuzzi on the balcony with beers from our mini fridge was just perfect. NICE

The fishing trip on the boat Cassandra was not worth the money.

Fantastic All-inclusive Resort

The bad: -Our bathroom smelled like sewer when we arrived but did air out by the 2nd day -Myself, my friend and her son went to the mexican restaurant, El Patio, and received very very very slow and not terribly friendly service The Good: -The food was amazing! I ate at every restaurant there and the food was fabulous at every one! In fact some of the best food was at El Patio even though they gave the worst service. -The hotel staff was very pleasant and aimed to please! Maintenance was very fast! -The pools were clean and very nice! The pool bar was awesome! -the beach was beautiful and well-kept! -There were a lot of activities available for free! We never got bored! Other thoughts: A couple differences between Dreams and other resorts 1) Some resorts try to appeal to the masses and thus serve bland food with little spice and little flavor. At Dreams the food is full of flavor and well-spiced! 2) At some resorts the staff is not allowed to accept individual tips. Instead you are asked at the end of your stay if you would like to tip the wait staff, maid service, etc. At Dreams the staff all accept tips and you do tend to get better service if you tip regularly. For what we paid for our vacation and the amount of food and drink we ordered, we were happy to tip! BRING LOTS OF $1 bills! All staff and hotel services accept American money. Over all this was a fabulous vacation spot! We will definitely return!

We went to the Flea Market area in Puerto Vallarta for shopping. We had a good time and got some good deals. You have to be careful because its rare their first price is their best price. Determine what the item is worth to you, offer a bit less than that. If they won’t barter or don’t accept your offer, walk away. Walking away is your best bartering tool. **#1 rule of economics: an item is worth only what someone is willing to pay for it, no more and no less. Don’t worry what the item is worth to the person who is selling it. Concern yourself only with what it is worth to YOU!** For me the flea market area was stressful because the shop keepers can be kind of aggressive. By the end of the day, my favorite phrase was "No, Gracias!" I definitely suggest going with a small group of people and sticking together when possible! Also don’t act intimidated. You have to be as confident as they are in order to not feel totally overwhelmed!

Wish I were still there!

This was our first experience with an all inclusive hotel and we loved it! The staff are all friendly and fun to be around. We went into PV to the flea market one day. Bought a few things, but be prepared to be pressured into buying! We also went on the "Outdoor Adventure" with Vallarta Adventures and I would definitely recommend. 4X4, mule ride, zip lines and rappelling through the jungle - so much fun!!! Capped with a tour of a tequila factory, it was a great time. The beach at the hotel is wonderful and the beach bar keeps you refreshed with drinks! I would also recommend the spa. We got aromatherapy massages and it was so relaxing!

A week of pure bliss

From the moment we arrived, our every need was taken care of by the hotel’s excellent staff. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. We loved each day there more and more. The turtle releases were an unexpected treat. The quality of the activities and the friendliness of the staff was unbelievable. The beach was beautiful and the closeness of the mountains made for a sepctacular backdrop. Our pictures are outstanding. We’d go back in a heartbeat.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

zip line canopy tour was fabulous. city and mountain tour gave tons of great information. Jungle Trek by hotel staff was really river walking and wonderful.

Nice resort, stay in newer building!

We stayed at Dreams for a wedding. It was a nice all inclusive resort. We stayed in the older building and I wish we had upgraded to the newer building. Considering the new building isn’t that much more expensive the accomodations are way better. They had an amazing seafood restaurant called Oceana that I would highly recommend too. The staff were all very friendly. I would recommend this place.

Great food, awesome location.

This was my first time to Puerto Vallarta, and my second time to a Dreams resort (first was in Cancun). I stayed in one of the rooms in the older tower, but I found the rooms larger here, and about the same level of quality as in Cancun. The food here was amazing, and the serving staff was great, although the main pool bar got so busy during the day it usually took five minutes to get a drink, if you went up to get it yourself. I got a massage at the spa during the stay, and I found it pretty average. The view was great and we even got to swim with a sea lion at the resort for free, although I think that was a limited thing.

We’re going again next year

From the minute we walked into our room to the moment we checked out we were delighted with the hotel, amenities, staff, everything. Maid service missed a day or two, but I suspect that something to do with us sleeping in a few times in our very comfortable king size bed. My wife is convinced that we got the same room that we saw on the internet. It was exactly as advertised and very well appointed. And the view of the ocean was incredible. Nothing like waking up in the morning to the sound of the surf outside your balcony. All the restaurants and food were very good, although we went to the Portofino once and were not too impressed with the food there. But the service was still impeccable, just as it was throughout the resort. Special thanks to Gabriella at the front desk and our two rock star bartenders, Enrigue and Gerardo. These folks went above and beyond to ensure that our experience at Dreams was above and beyond. If you’re looking for an all inclusive with great food, drinks and service and a terrific location close to classic Puerto Vallarta attractions, make sure and include Dreams as part of your vacation plans.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Swimming with the sea lions in Nueva Vallarta is a blast. We found great chilaquiles and a fantastic breakfast selection at Fredy’s Tucan and I would definitely recommend Cafe Roma down near the mercados at Rio Cuale. Good food, great drink prices and you can wave to your friends on their webcam near the bar and call them back in the U.S. from their free phone. And you might even get to meet the residen parrot, Pato.

Dreams Puerto Vallarta

This was the best trip to Mexico we have ever had. (We travel a lot) The hotel was fantastic. Try to get into the newest building on the south side. Rooms are spectacular. Clean, clean, clean which is important to us. The staff could not have been better. Food was excellent at all the restaurants. Service was top notch too. It’s very close to town for shopping or other entertainment. I know this sounds like a crazy over-the-top review, but we have already booked another stay for next year, it was that good! Best ’All Inclusive’ hotel we have found. Very highly recommended.

Tip your pool waiter in the morning and you will never have an empty drink. They will take excellent care of you and you won’t have to ever ask or look for service!

Fantastic!!

This hotel was fantastic!! The food and drinks were fabulous!! The ocean is beautiful and great for swimming/surfing. The beach is wonderful!! The upgrade to the Preferred Club is a great deal. Much nicer accommodations. Be sure to do that when you book or it may not be available when you arrive. Most of the restaurants are outdoors. Beautiful most of the year, I’m sure. Way too hot in September. Will not return in August or September, but would love to go back any other time!! We’re planning our next trip to DREAMS!!

Great last minute getaway

Booked this resort last minute and could not have been happier. The room was a little dated but the rest of the resort made up for it. Great location on the beach, the restuarants and food was amazing. They really paid attention to the details and you felt very spoiled. Wonderful wait staff, easy to get around. The ocean was very warm and the pools were very fun. Loved the rooftop tennis courts.

Loved every minute of it!

My husband and I stayed at Dreams for our 5 year anniversary in September. We had read lots of reviews of the hotel and had great expectations for our trip - we were not disappointed:) Everything was so wonderful. The food was probably the best we’d ever eaten (our favorite restaurant was Oceana). Most of the nightly entertainment was wonderful. The service was excellent. Housekeeping did a great job. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The private beach was great - and not too crowded, as I think this was the off season. We are already missing Dreams and talking of going again. We loved it!!!!! (The only complaint we had was the the air conditioning vent above our bed would gather condensation and drip on us during the night. A couple nights into our stay they tried to fix it, but it continued to drip. - Other than that, we had no compaints!)

Amazing, way beyond what we expected! No Regrets!

Amazing!!! Seriously everything was perfect. Food (I gained 10 pounds the food was so good), service-wow I don’t think you could do any better, their entertainment team was so great always had something to do. I took my 11 year old and they made his days so special. Private beach- very important detail if you are going to PV, they are the only one there that has a private beach. I can’t wait to go back.

Dreams Puerto Vallarta - AMAZING!

We stayed at the Dreams Puerto Vallarta All-Inclusive resort and Spa for our honeymoon and they didn’t disappoint! The hotel was very clean, staff was pleasant, and everything felt so luxurious, even though we booked a very inexpensive deal through Expedia! We stayed on the top level of the preferred tower, which had exquisite views! The maid service visited our room at least twice a day, so everything was always really clean and welcoming. The shows at the hotel were good for the most part, but the activities could have been better organized. That really wasn’t why we were there though. The beach this hotel is on is outside of the main town, so it’s nice and private, with very few vendors roaming the beach. You could easily take a taxi to town and do some shopping, or go to the clubs or restaurants, the taxi rides are about 120 pesos each way. Not too bad at all. We loved how we had the option of solitude and privacy or going to the busy downtown area. All in all it was an absolutely perfect trip and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Traveler's tip on shopping

The Flea Market downtown is where we did most of our shopping, but if you’re looking for pottery or ceramics like I was, there’s a beautiful shop called the glass factory on the southern edge of town before the highway to the hotel - great prices and excellent pieces!

Perfect Anniversary

My husband & I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary at Dreams between Sept.13th & Sept 19th. We loved our stay at Dreams. With a small upgrade, our room ended up in the "preferred tower". All rooms have a full view, clean, great service - such as new towels added in the morning & at turn down, daily stocked mini bar. The lobby of this tower had different snacks put out 3 times per day, along with serve yourself drinks (we took up to our room before dinner). We chose this hotel because of the beach, and were very pleased. Maybe it’s different depending on the season, but the beach was very nice. No rocks on the shore, clean, private, warm water, gentle waves. Perfect for using the kayaks provided by the hotel. During the day we preferred to hang-out on the lounges on the beach, rather than by the pool. (plenty of empty lounges all over the resort) Felipe provided great drink service all day around the pool & beach. We were never without a drink. We’ve stayed at more than a few all-inclusive hotels and thought this hotel had the best food. The great thing about this all-inclusive hotel (unlike others) is that you don’t need reservations for any meal. The dress code for restaurants is easy to understand and not "too much". For example: My husband brought one pair of long pants for the Portifino restaurant. The zip-line tour (with repelling) provided by Vallarta Adventures, was a blast. Scary FUN ! We would definitely go back to this hotel.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

After arriving at the airport, use a taxi for transportation to your hotel. Look for the booth near the exit of the airport - "TAXI". Cost: Approx. $20.00. This hotel also has taxi service waiting on-site.

Loved it! We will def go back and bring the kids next time!!

We loved this resort! Awesome locataion, very romantic!! The private beach was very nice and there was so many activies to do on site. Lots of options for couples as well as options for families and kid friendly activities too. Although, I do have to say that even though there are a few different restaurants to dine, the portions are very small and overall taste was poor-mediocre. However, room service was excellent and offered great food! Also, the day spa was very small and very hard to schedule an appointment at. (Don’t waste your money on it.)On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the Best) I rate this resort 8.5!!!

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Tips for couples or adults... do the Dune Buggy Aventure... it was Awesome!! Also, the Rhythms of the Night dinner was Amazing and had the best food ever... authentic Mexican food!! There is so much to do... don’t go unless you can stay for at least 5 days.
