Budapest Fall 2009
Ok, I have marked everything extremely satisfied but ... if you are used to 5star hotels with all the comforts and amenities that come with them you will disagree. We booked the Carlton based on location, size, and other reviews and were not disappointed in any way. We found the staff to be very helpful in every way, and the desk staff was great. This is a small quaint hotel that worked well for us. The breakfast was well set out and we never left hungry for the day. The room was just as the photos displayed and accommodated us perfectly. We were on the 7th floor and in the evening looked across the rooftops at the lights on the Palace. It was very convenient for walking up Castle Hill - trails are right across the street, the walk across the Chain Bridge is fun, and the underground and trams are very convenient easily with in a 1/4 to 1/2 mile easy walk. If/when we return to Budapest this will be the hotel we look at first. It fit well with us since we didnt rent a car (they have parking underneath) and utilized the public transport or walked for the week we were there. Read the reviews, look at the pictures, and if it looks right for you, dont hesitate to book. This was a delightful place for us.
If you fly in, use the Shuttle to get to the hotel and back to the airport. Much cheaper. Use the ATMs to get local currency and not the Change makers, big difference. Avoid the airport in Paris if at all possible! A standing nightmare!

Convenient
There was a bar/restaurant right in front of the hotel. The noise was loud in the room at times. Close to castle area and Chain Bridge.

Small rooms, great location & good service
This was a nice, newly remodeled hotel that is well maintained and clean. The rooms are a tad small, but it was comfortable. Wifi and breakfast buffet were included and well done. Location is right near the Chain Bridge and was easy walking distance to our river cruise ship.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Shuttle from airport was 17 euros, much better than taxi.
